Thanks Rich.... I have an S5 that needs a BBB, of which I can pick up locally.

And Aarons6, I actually forgot about that... I'll have to look into changing that. Thanks for the reminder

Has anyone had a BeableBoneBlack (the controller/logic board on the S5's and S7's) go bad and you stuck a full featured, retail version of the BBB on the miner? Did it work?

People have definitely run a Retail BBB on an S5, so would expect it to work on the S7 but have not see this reported.

Does anyone know if the Ethernet port on the S7 is 10/100 or 10/100/1000 ?

and second

You can buy retail BBB from Bitmain so yes. But you're assuming the daughter/IO board would be in perfect working condition to do so.

I think its 10/100 but it doesnt really matter.

No, from what I saw, the bitmain BBB is a stripped version. The retail version has all kinds of nifty things including HDMI output.... and the Bitmain version costs more.  The Bitmain Tech way .... costs more, get less.

I'm kind of thinking, digging through the way back past recollections ... that the BBB is 10/100/1000.

I'm re-configuring my network.... I'm tired of my wifes Nook (which runs only dynamic IP addressing, no way to give it a static IP), signing on to the network when she comes home and causing an IP conflict, essentially forcing one of my miners offline even though the miner has a static IP address. I dont know what kind of hack and crap fork those Barns and Noble bookworms made, but its utter shizzle. DHCP is suppose to "pick a free IP address" where as a static ip address is forced to use the specified address.

Now that I think of it.... my internet is 60 MEGAbit down 4 MEGAbit up .... a 10/100 MEGAbit interface is a lot bigger pipe than my internet connection.... sooo, I know where to put my GIGAbit network devices now.... Derrr.... sometimes ya just need to talk it out to get the A-HA! moment.

Kilobit is slower than Megabit, Megabit is slower than Gigabit

the NOOK is wireless.. you know you can go into your router and set a "reserved" ip for wireless devices.. that is if your router was made in the last few years.. if not its time to upgrade anyway.

also its a good idea to not overlap the DHCP and static IPs.. make DHCP 2-50 and keep statics 100+ and you will never have an issue.

also, the 100/1000 doesnt do any good for the s5.. at most you will transfer a few k a second.. most of the time its a lot less.

I am an infrequent, cheap coinbase user, and I think it's usually 3-4 days before the BTC shows as available to transfer or spend. I think if you are willing to incur higher costs, you can speed up that process.

i just pushed the wire transfer through.. it was only 40$.

i checked on localbitcoins and the cheapest one selling bitcoin was over market value.. it would have costed way more then 40$  and coinbase only lets you do 200$ instant and the rest takes a week.

so hopefully the transfer will go through this week and i get it next week.

I put in an order but when I went to pay my bank said the swift number was incomplete. They need 11 digits. Anyone have an idea what it is?
https://www.google.com/search?q=swift+number&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8

Hmm looks like the lady at the bank was just stupid and she just needed to add XXX to the number they gave me.

yeah, wiring money is a rare thing now. When I bought my first batch of S7's I had to wire funds because I just was not producing enough BTC with 4 S2's to get in on the S7's not knowing that Bitmain would carry them so long. I've seen them run out quick before.

When I wired the funds at a bank with branches nationally (USA) , I was being helped by the branch manager. She NEVER in her entire career in banking had to wire money for a customer. 3 cups of coffee and hour later, after the manager was on the phone to the banks corporate help line, finally the funds were sent and within 2 weeks, I had my S7's.

That last few purchases have been with BTC.... so much easier, so much CHEAPER ( the bank raked me over the coals for $55 to wire money internationally )

yeah id do it with bitcoin but i dont have that much..

ive never bought it before lol.. im not sure i can change it anyway i already checked out with usd?

if i buy bitcoin with coinbase how long does it take to go through?

its only 4pm in china, the stupid sales people should be online but they are not :/

I'm impressed...
Aside from the delay caused by CNY, Bitmain replaced my dead s7b8 hasboard exactly 7 days after they got it. I waited until the 18th to send it, UPS shows it received on Feb 22 and I just got the replacement today. Different board, slightly older rev but what the hay, that's what is expected for warranty replacements. It works fine and now that s7 is up to full speed for the 1st time.

Also have to add that after I sent the dead board I got no further word from Bitmain about it's status much less the replacement being on its way...
According to the RMA information it can take up to 1 month so needless to say,Congrats on the fast service.
