The madness continues ...

HWInfo broke my system, had to reinstall the drivers and to apply mods again.
How are we supposed to do any monitoring with these s*** drivers? Any click anywhere outside the console breaks things, random timed out session of Team Viewer breaks things. This is very very f** up.
I really want to see how the hot card is working, but can't really do that with XMR STAK, as everything breaks too easy.

Anyway, I've seen ppl having issues with HBCC. I seem to have one too. Two of the cards are hashing at ~700 & 650. They had HBCC enabled before, now after the driver reinstall I can't even enable the thing.
But even enabled, I still had these 650-700 H/s on these threads, so I don't think it was actually working.
Rest seems to be OK (right now all of that is at 1800/1600). The change from 1600/1600 was a cosmetic +50-100 H/s total, so I see no point in pushing it more.

Can anyone help me solving that issue?
I have 8GB Ram, 64GB Virtual Memory, 6x RX VEGA 64 (Air).
Is 16 GB RAM going to solve this? My HBCC Slider says ~ 11666 MB. Is that the same number for you guys?
https://prnt.sc/gqyzlr

I managed to only get 4 cards with HBCC actually working. They sliders show up for the other 2 cards but changing any settings has no effect on the slider and the hashrate reflects HBCC is not working. I even added other AMD cards like an R9 290 and RX 570 later on and it dropped it to only 3 cards with HBCC working

The SSD is 128 only, so there's not enough space for 96 virtual I think.  Maybe I can swap it with the 256 in my desktop pc over the weekend. But thats interesting idea. Any others Smiley ?

Can you try 96gb virtual memory?
Your (64+8)/6 = ~12Gb per card can be to low for HBCC to work correctly

Guess we need some tool (utility) for reg-modding or this thread will be flooded with regfiles ))

And yes - putting random clock-values to P2-P5 states is not a good idea ))

Sir, you are absolutely correct.
I have actually created a simple xls to make it more comfy for myself.

Added bits & pieces to make it safe for usage.
Maybe you'll get a dedicated program sometime soon Cheesy

Not sure if it works in OpenOffice, will have a check on this tomorrow.

https://mega.nz/#!EKgHDI6S!b4OjeKGATtb6ct19e2MBwPRDpd2TLXCfzqqKdmXnfpU

Please follow the steps as per below:

Attention:  Please read existing guidelines very carefully how to adequately setup Vega64 BIOS.
I don't take any responsibility in hardware fault or system damage(!).

Credits for SoftPowerPlayTable go to hellm on Overclock.net for documenting everything.
Thanks to rednoW for highlighting this stuff to me

Very simple steps to be performed:
1. Enter graphics card you want to adjust
2. Enter desired voltage in mV  per  P State
3. Enter desired Clocks per State
4. Enter MEM Clock Rate
5. Hit "Generate reg file"
6. Run .reg file
7. Reboot
8. Go to Wattman, reset settings
9. (Some say to put voltage to manual control - for me it works without)
10. ...Mine & Profit Smiley

It seems that it needs a password to alter any values???

HWInfo is used by AMD rep afaik so its probably fine
Does HBCC run on cards connected to 1xPCIe 2.0 ports with risers or do you need PCIe 3.0 and/or 8x? Does it matter if they are going through the chipset or directly to the CPU?

HBCC I dont think is restricted by risers and its a minor benefit anyway but it'd be interesting to know if theres any difference

I am actually trying basically everything I can to see what different settings do. Half of the fun is tinkering!

However, I am a bit reluctant to flash a liquid bios on an air card without some more information, it seems like it would perhaps not work because of difference in cooling, so thats why i asked you for more information.

Without having to type alot, are you saying using a 64 watercooled bios on a 56 card is ok? Im on a stock 56 cooler.
/J

The liquid bios has higher voltage counts then the air bios.   If the 64 air bios is working ok  then liquid is largely just that difference afaik.   The point might be not to use it without some heavy duty cooling, nobody wants gpu temp in the 70's as it will lower hash rates.

More then higher volts I think lower volts works best, Vega has its main problem in throttling its own performance and they never mastered this perfectly.  It was a problem mention back at the start of the year, remember how we saw it running Doom just fine and then nothing further for months I guess they hit a brick wall and just released it as it is.
You dont want to mine with this card using 400w do you, the hash rate would need to get into 3 digits to make it worthwhile.  If its games for an hour or so then fine I hope you set some records

Does anyone know how accurate HWinfo is with vega56?
This is what I belive I am doing now.

https://imgur.com/a/dpBEw

You need to update to the latest beta version of HWInfo to see VEGA stats correctly.
The correct version is 5.57-3250

Edit: 5.58-3255 is now out as of today

Edit2: Still getting incorrect reporting of total chip power for a 56 flashed to 64, other than that the stats appear correct

However what I find disturbing, as soon as I am setting individual maximum clock speeds for P1-P7, in some cases my windows won't boot, sometimes P7 disappears entirely(!) from Wattman or checking in OverdriveNTool. Anyone experiencing the same issues?

I had this behavior, if a lower P-State had a higher value in clock or voltage than a higher one.

If I apply the morepowervega64 registry edit by hellm on OC.  I'm good, but if I try to apply oldcomer's modified version I get a black screen and the gpu fan at 100% when I try to restart.  I reboot in safe mode and DDU and reinstall blockchain driver.  Please help me obi wan.  Which do a modify to what to reduce my power usage?

nanopool works fine for me, but yeah im seeing about 2-3% discrepancy.  For people who dont have a lot of hash, maybe nicehash is a better option.  Last time I tried it though the cryptonight servers kept restarting/disconnecting though.

@DonBit, I managed to make things stable and work. Thanks for the tips.

Can you or someone else share if there are tools to better interpret the little endian values for the purposes of the registry? Maybe you have tried to tweak to voltage/amperage further... if so, can you please share values outside of the table DonBit shared... like 120W, 130W, 140W, etc.?

Thanks, everyone!

Also, has  anyone tried setting 56 memory voltage to 1350mv, does it work  without  bios mod? Would be nice to be able to run mem at 1100mhz  as I can do with 64 bios, but without voiding the warranty  by swapping bios (though I think  in the eu you can basically change software in your electronics without voiding warranty by law, it seems)

Im talking about changing 0xE42  (1250mv) to 0x546 (1350mv)
Only bios flash currently ... And don't mess with air-Vega64 bios ... go for Liquid one ))

Why liquid one? What are the pros of using that instead of the air bios?
/J
Don't want to type a lot ... just take your time and try different settings for your cards. Nobody has to do this work for you.

And yes ... this thread will be buried with this stupid big tables from newbies ... time to leave ...

Ok, after debating with myself I'm not going to try out the power tables mod at regedit.
If a V64 can do 1990, I'm damn happy with my V56s doing 1830 each on a stable setup.

Yes, Wattman UI is asinine but it's now over 1 week that I hadn't the need to touch on the machine.

The calculator says I should make 0.10 XMR / day, 0.30 payout on 3rd day.
https://www.cryptocompare.com/mining/calculator/xmr?HashingPower=5500&HashingUnit=H%2Fs&PowerConsumption=570&CostPerkWh=0.22

And at Nanopool, with their fixed difficulty I'm noticing 4% expired shares, but still doing 0.097XMR / day
https://i.imgur.com/1DURxbu.jpg

Those 4% expired shares is what I have to fix now.... by finding a better pool.

---

Other thing that I don't understand is: why so many are still mining Ethereum with Vega?!
Here's my profit math, with my power cost (0.22 $USD) accounted...

ETH is 114MH/s @ 450W = $ 76.65 / month
XMR is 5400H/s @ 570W = $ 207.65 / month

Even if each Vega56 was able to do 70MH/s in ETH (will never gonna happen) XMR was still more profitable ($ 201.22 / month in ETH)

Finally, looking at the future XMR appears to have a lot more room to grow.

---

As for my config, it's simple to achieve it and is fully explained at page 26 on this thread.

I guess I'll follow rednoW's suggestion and leave the thread till new drivers for block chain come up.
You can always find me on reddit at /u/hellae.
