Hey everyone !

I'm facing a problem with a, ASUS Z270-P mobo, and a SAPPHIRE VEGA 64 graphic card. I've been following closely this tutorial : http://vega.miningguides.com/ and yet, after 2 days of countless installs, BIOS settings, DDU abusing, I just can't get it working. Like not even got close to it.

I read somewhere that these particular mobos are pretty difficult to get running. I've only used H81, so far, and as all seems to point to this very part of the machine, I was wondering if anyone had troubles with it, and could share his experience [and eventually the solution]

+ Mobo BIOS up-to-date [but read somewhere, once, it had to be downgraded to earlier versions]

+ BIOS Setup :

-----DMI Max Link Speed -> Gen2/Gen3
-----PCIEX16_1 link speed -> Gen 2/Gen3
-----PCI Express Configuration -> Gen 2/Gen3
-----Enabled(above 4G)

+ Fresh W10 install [UEFI]

+ Blockchain driver - Inevitably fails with BSOD atikmpag.sys issue [both W7 and W10] before finishing

Any help ?

Please send me your card. I will take a look at it.
That's a good one!

Hi Guys,

At every reboot of my rig i need to apply settings in Wattman, i just want to know if i can apply automatically by overdriventool, or i need something more?

Thx

Follow this http://vega.miningguides.com/ guide.

Wattman is nothing but trouble....

It depends.  I have a rig just using wattman and since it never goes down or loses power, it never restarts and just hashes away.  rock stable.  of course its better to NOT use wattman but whatcanyoudo.

I have the same motherboard running 4x vega64s and 2 Vega 56. Had a few problems to start off. In the end I had to reset the CMOS jumper and start again. Don't know if it makes a difference but I updated and changed the's the settings in bios before adding any GPUs second time round. First time I had the GPUs installed and had problems installing drivers

For some reason I cannot set up Gandalphs 3000 XMR Stack v0.7 to mine

This is not a support thread for a specific miner software. Please move this discussion into the appropriate thread.

New drivers dont allow PowerPlayMods either so we are are stuck with the Blockchain one anyway if you care about power consumption  Wink

Sad news. They fix something, but then introduce new problems. In that case, we must keep using the current blockchain driver.

Have you more details for the pixel patcher, version? How to use?
Gents, I'm having a problem adding a second PSU to run card #5(and eventually 5-8). I have 4 64s powered by a corsair 1200i, getting 8k hashes total. I'm using an add2PSU to connect two corsair 1200s. Whenever I add my 5th card using my secondary PSU, it goes unrecognized in windows. The 'Radeon' lights up, but there is no red light near the power cables.

To troubleshoot, I changed all connections to my second PSU so it acts as primary and it powers 4 cards fine. I've also added 5 cards to each PSU and they all hash fine - however it's far too close to the max watts. One time I switched two cards to the secondary psu - one card had all red lights on, the other just a green light but neither were recognized. The fans don't spin.

The problem lies with trying to get any cards in attached to the secondary psu to be recognized in windows. I'm using s Biostar Tb-250 pro. Anyone have any suggestions?

You have to DDU and reinstall drivers every time you add a new card (:

Make sure Windows automatic device driver install is turned off.   You will still probably have to run pixel patcher when you add or move cards but that's a lot easier than driver cleaning/reinstall.

Anybody tested the new drivers and compute mode? Is it finally time to dump the blockchain drivers?

I'd of course be interested to see if anyone has tried them. Everything I've read doesn't seem to indicate much change for Vega

https://www.anandtech.com/show/12147/amd-releases-radeon-software-adrenalin-edition

"So in short, Adrenalin details nothing Vega-specific and there was no information disclosed on what Vega optimizations are coming when. The focus is on interaction and availability of the features within."

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/radeon-software-adrenalin-edition,5384.html

"Vega owners won't see the Graphics/Compute switch in AMD's driver. According to company representatives, all of the features that benefit compute workloads are already enabled by default in Vega's architecture, so the switch isn't necessary."

Are there any people mining electroneum here, it is way more profitable than monero. If so can you tell me what is your hashrate. For some reason I cannot set up Gandalphs 3000 XMR Stack v0.7 to mine electroneum. The regular XMR stack miner gives me meager 1200 hashes a card, so I am forced to use Cryptonight Claymore 10.2b mining with 1660 hashes per card. When I mine Monero I mine it with full speed constant 2025 hashes, but not for electroneum. Help me please. I can offer some Electroneum doantion if I reach 2025 hashes. Thank you.

My 6x Vega 56 rig on Onda D1800 finally works like a charm.
Averaging 1940 h/s per GPU so just over 11600 in total, for 1350W at the wall.

For the records, that's better than my two 7x RX570 rigs combined (11200 h/s for 1650W), without any single bios, SOC or soft power play mods.

Those bloody Vegas really are good.

I only wish CastXMR would allow you to set failovers...

Those numbers are pretty bad tbh.. You might want to modify/tweak your cards a bit more. This guy on youtube is getting 15.5kh/s using  only 1400W.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7r93A4SJts0
They're stock numbers. I haven't modded anything.
I don't know if there would be much to gain from going through the trouble of flashing all cards to 64's, playing around with soc and soft power play tables just to gain a few hashes. Now I could probably do with a little less power to the GPU cores, that would surely help consumption-wise...
you don't need to mod anything, use Cast XMR with little tweaks recommended out there and you can get 2000H/s at 160W power consumption without touching your Vega 56 bios -you don't need to-
Honestly if you know of little tricks that will make me gain 60+ H/s and reduce wattage by 60+ Watt per card without mod, I'm all ears, please share your wisdom!

What are your amd.txt settings and your overdrivetool profiles?

have you disabled crossfire and so on? http://vega.miningguides.com/

Yes system was running good for days but tried to optimize again again. With 64 bios in bios Switch 2 i got 3700H/s at 395W and now 3850 at 440W. Not really good imo

Does that only apply to when you add a new card off another PSU? Because I was able to get all 5 going on a single PSU plug and play, and adding the 5th on cast amd config.

Edit: just ran ddu in safe mode, reinstalled block chain drivers and the result is the same. Any cards attached to second PSU don't show up in windows. Tried a different SATA cable. I know they're getting power because the fans were spinning when reinstalling drivers.
have you tried switching the risers? They are a source of issues.

I've a strange Problem now...was running 2 Vega56@64 Air Bios but was unable to get them stable so i was running with Bios Switch in Position 2(Should still be 56 Bios also if 64 is on Position 1 right?) at 3700H/s with CastXmr

Now i flashed both back to original 56 Bios and iam able to get ~1970H/s with both Cards if just 1 Card is plugged. If i plug in the second Card and start the miner i get much artefacts and the pc crashes. Ive an old Z77Pro 3 Board with 2 PCI-E Slots and it seems that its always the Card in 2nd Slot which crashes the System. Any ideas why its crashing now and not before with Bios Position 2?

Thank you for the suggestions. Crossfire disabled, tried a different riser, all risers are powered by primary psu. Also tried to power the 5th card off secondary psu. I originally setup the 4 cards with that guide and it's been smooth.  Again, I can get 5 working just fine if all are plugged into primary psu. It's only when it's plugged into secondary that it won't show up in windows.

My 3x VEGA-64 are running SMOOTH -- I love them... wish I was able to get more (at non-crazy pricing).

I followed the online guides & it's worked great... after a few driver re-installs I followed the tip to NOT install the Radeon Settings software AT ALL. Simply turned off Crossfire in registry and use device manager to switch off / switch on the cards when I re-boot the system. Works perfectly.
