Selling 376 with a minimum order quantity of 300, why would there be a price cut?  If anything the next batch may have a slight increase.  The free market and Supply and Demand in effect here.
The first batch is 10,000 units, so if they don't feel they'll sell the whole batch quickly enough, a price cut might be in order. Hey, we can dream, right?

A fascinating thing I leaned in one course somewhere along the line is that manufacturing costs play no part in retail or wholesale pricing.  They are a sunk cost by that time.  It's so counter-intuitive that it stuck in my memory.

Most of us probably realize that in a matter of months $200+ will be an absurdly high price for something like these little sticks, and especially the mere 300MH/sec.

The people on this thread are the 'tip of the spear' when it comes to future activity in this space.  It actually could be a good business decision to make us feel that we got a 'break' from ASICMINER so I would not rule it out.

This being 'group buy' and not a 'retail' effort it is possible that ~arklan would pass along the fruits of such a thing to us participants.

Thanks great Job everyone well done to the organisers and escrow, stage 1 of 3 complete.

Keeping the order books open while we wait for payment we don't need to process the order will be costing the group over 5BTC a day. That can't be recouped once the difficulty changes. So processing the order book as soon as possible, is in the best interest of the paid group. (It is wrong to take earnings away from those who have paid so those who haven't paid can benefit.)

The profitability of this little USB unit is about 0.015BTC per day.  (see http://www.bitcoinx.com/profit/ ) This will last until the next bunch of Asics is released in the coming months.

Given the 0.015BTC profitability will diminish fast, every day is important in recouping costs.  There are many reasons for delays, I would encourage you to get your order finalised and in the queue ASAP, so we can eliminate at least 1 reason, by all means start the process again and do another order, but let's get this order on the go.

Because he committed to keep the same price for the whole 10000 unit batch. They will struggle to sell all these units at this price. Not even 1k orders have been closed in the forum and that's through group buy without minimum orders.

I know its covered for min quantity, but if we want to submit order today, then we need payment for the 54 units that have not been paid for (nothing to do with the 300 mark).  I was asking if anyone wanted to say they would cover those units until the others paid so that we could get the order in.
If the stragglers become a holdup, I'd be willing to assist.

If I counted that right we need 54 more units paid for before we can submit the order.

Does anyone want to put up for those?  (i.e. you pay and if the other person comes through before the deadline then you get your money back, otherwise you get the extra unit?)

I would be up for a couple, but will need more support from others.

The order is already covered as far as min quantity goes so no need.

no one has heard back from friedcat anyway so there's no reason to rush anything at this point.

I missed the original order.  I'll buy two if two free up.

i see that i can just print it on regular printer paper. i'll just do that ,then apply to box/envelope and cover in packing tape so it's waterproof.

i figure padded envelopes for overs of 5 or less (each unit in it's own anti-static bag and bubble wrapped) and for bigger orders, boxes with foam inserts to separate the units. i already have a ton of cardboard and foam from other stuff, so it's no big to do that.

You can do that, but they don't want you to tape over the barcodes, and they're a bit of a pain to avoid (I've done it hundreds of times).

Please, please don't use a padded envelope for my shipment.  Use a box with packing material (crumpled newspaper works) surrounding the items.  Understand that the mail gets beat the f up.  You should see what some things look like after they've been through it.  I can imagine anything in a padded envelope getting thoroughly crushed.

I use boxes like these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/200-6-x-3-x-2-White-Corrugated-Shipping-Mailer-Packing-Box-Boxes-/380554330622
+1 never use padded envelopes for hardware. use small boxes they keep their shape.

i'm gonna need more cardboard... Cheesy

I always get my mailers from here. http://www.uline.com/Product/GuidedNav.aspx?t=184360&R=1%3b1
or better deal on smaller stuff but takes longer to get usually (week or so for delivery) http://www.amshippingsupplies.com/-c-21.html#Indestructo®
