I think I'm only on level 3 if Im going to rate myself in terms of gambling. I experienced until level 5 but that's not happened for a long time only quite some time when I dont have much other stuff to get busy with.

I like your ratings, did you based this on a natural scaling for gamblers or you just created this yourself? I think those higher level such as 7 to 9 are already worse and its needed attention of a therapist based on your description.

Let us try to find how safely we have been into gambling so far.

Level 1 to level 3: (beginning levels)
1. New gambling ideas flashes in your mind even you are too busy with your studies or work or with friends/family.
2. Already lost in hundreds still you are strongly believing to recover them by innovating new strategy.

I guess I am in levels 1 and 2 in the time I start gambling but then I reduce my time in gambling, and I think now I am at level 1 again Grin

But I can stay away from gambling for a month or more because I have the other things in my real life that can make me keep busy every day. Sometimes, I gamble only once in a month, but sometimes I bet twice in a month. There is no specific time for me to gamble because I don't want to get addicted to gambling, and that can make me play gambling over and over.

Not that much involved with gambling, so I can also be at middle of level 0 and 1,  spending time with some of my friends enjoying the time together
then forget afterwards or sometimes bets with my favorite NBA games then enjoy some sort of winnings when luck permits me.
But never to allocate such amount just to spend for my gambling activities.

I'll probably set my own standard to the level 0 which I think I belong in. I mainly gamble just because I want to test a gambling site and play along without the big involvement of money. In other words, I am not losing or winning too much in gambling thus, just being paid to beta test a gambling site, or to create a commentary about it in which my aim is to promote the gambling site at all. But I could say, even if I am not playing that much and betting serious amount of money, I still learn because of being active and staying tuned to different gambling sites I know at this time.

I'm in-between level 0 and level 1.

I just gamble for fun but not that I forget it. I could gamble every day but I could say that I am not spending my money but just my time. I can say that I am just killing my boredom since I am just gambling using the satoshis I am getting from gambling sites. Though I am a level 1 too since a lot of strategies are flashing in my mind and I am trying them with those free satoshis I am getting.

Well I'd say that a lot of those descriptors are wildly inaccurate bro.

It's quite possible to plan to be a professional gambler, and even be a professional gambler and not be in debt.

Likewise, it's often possible to be warned about having a gambling issue, when actually you're a profitable player making an above-average income.

In any case, I'd say I'm a zero. I literally just play for fun whenever the mood strikes me.

Before I’m on a level 3 where I keep on playing after winning until I made a zero profit that day. Fortunately, because of my busy work and my growing family, I was able to go back to level 0 to the moment that I almost forgot how that game works. I’m not addicted anymore, for me if you find your purpose in life then for sure you will not waste more time in gambling because you want now to spend it on what matters.

Level 0: Gamble while gamble and may forget it for months. Gamble only with friends and gambling is not an option to kill boredom.
I am still on this stage (level 0) and it means not addicted to gambling. I can gamble whenever I want, and I can forget it for weeks because of busy with real-life activities. But I never think to gamble only for fun, I have a serious purpose/goal. I think it is the same with others, that I want to win the games (for money). But honestly, I don't depend on my friends to gamble because mostly I gamble alone.

I was on the level 1 to level 3 but I am glad I cut it out early and I am gambling now not because of addiction but because I just love to do it.
It's nice if we will be able to see that addiction early so it will not become a serious problem that would lead to self destruction in the future.

3. Made $50 then why not $100 or $500.

This is pretty like my mentality in the past.

So this is my situation. I am addicted in the past and the reason that I am not that addicted now is because of my wife. I am gambling my money around $4 to $10, so I don't know where would I put that. Despite that, my wife usually warns me of leaving me if I continue losing money around $10-$50 since the value of the USD in our country is around 50 pesos. Maybe that will still fall at Level 1 to level 3 since most of them I can really relate.

It usually becomes very apparent even without any sort of 'level' system that you're addicted to gambling if you just take a minute to think about yourself and the past few months of gambling, and the amount of money you've spent on gambling and the effects that has had on your life. If gambling's affecting your life in any negative way, that's already reason enough to consider stopping or finding professional help as the OP said. A lot of people don't fit cleanly in any of these levels or might even be seeing some of the negative sides of gambling being below the first level of this scale.

It also depends how you look at gambling and to what level you consider it to be significantly affecting your life. I'd probably take a step back and reconsider gambling if I start excessively thinking about gambling during work or in my free time, even despite it being in the first level of this scale.

Most people don't notice they are addicted unfortunately.

It's the same with drugs and most other things too, they only notice when they realize what they have done to themselves/family/friends etc.

Props to you on making a nice scale Cheesy. It was simple but for me it already sums up every intensities of gambling addiction, good job. Anyway, going back to the topic, I think I only lie from Level 0 to 1 right now since I'm still busy due to my preparations for board exam. But given that I already finished this and find a decent job, it's weird that I can feel that I will suddenly jump into Level 4. Honestly, I think of someday that I will allocate few percent of my earnings just to try my luck on gambling Grin.

I am allocating maybe 10% to 20% from my income per month, but I did not fall any of the levels in the OP since I am not addicted in gambling anymore.
Based on my experience, when I am addicted in the past, I don't allocate any, I just gamble to win but I have no plan on stopping, that's why I get easily addicted.

A poll would also be helpful to get an easy picture from people who have addiction that will participate.

With all honesty, I'm level 0.

I sometimes gambe once and forget about it for a month. I have so many things to do that I'm never bored and have enough money to live by so I don't have to treat gambling like a way of making more money or anything like that.

I'd say that if a person thinks about gambling all day he's not lvl 1. You should think of something in between the current lvl 0 and lvl 1.

6. Lost most of the friends as they are not supporting your view on gambling. You want to prove them how genius you are in gambling.
Do losing friends belong to the "intermediate" level? For me, it is not intermediate but belongs to "severe" level. It is a serious risk that may happen if we are not able to control ourselves. I assume, once you lose most of your friends, the "prove" will only be in vain. If you are really a genius, you won't be addicted to gambling, right?

Actually, beginners to intermediate levels can still be avoided, only if the gambler themselves allows that to happen. That's why never blame gambling for this addiction but how the person is dealing with it.

Those on critical or severe level aren't only because of gambling why they turned out like that. They are having difficulty in the real world and facing personal problems that's why it contributes to their desire of doing gambling thinking it's the only way to solve those especially the financial part. They think they don't have other choices that's why even they don't want to gamble, they will deal with it.

Nice topic, I'm somewhere between zero and one because I'm never going high level unless I seriously get a good streak or enjoy a particular game alot and even then I'm gambling profits hopefully not out on a limb and a prayer.

10. You already became a Warren Buffet of gambling

This sounds like a combo best summed up as 'completely delusional' because if you are Warren Buffet of gambling you should have it made and why the heck would a wife be mad at someone making bucks with a regular successful system of gambling.    If the cash flow is purely one way and you are obsessed with gambling and losing so much as well as ignoring the wife then yep this could be the final step to losing touch with reality Shocked
