It's with great pleasure that we can say that ISX which is the first cryptocurrency exchange in Iceland will be opened next Monday 14. December for those that have registered for the beta test. Smiley

Fantastic! This is a big day in the history of Auroracoin.

Hey Skarfur

How many people have signed up for beta and what kind of volume do you expect?

Can you please explain what effect the beta test will have on auro price, do you see massive sell off, panic buying or no movement at all?

Who will provide a big enough supply of auros to meet the potential demand, will the foundation use its own funds to provide liquidity?

If supply runs out can you buy auros on the bittrex exchange and load them into the icelandic one?

Most importantly though is how long will the beta test last and what are the main trials the beta needs to pass?

We have about 80 people registered for the beta tests.

What will happen with the price or what kind of volume is impossible to tell. We will just have to see.

The exchange is run by a company called Skiptimynt ehf. which is a company that I, Hlynur and Hermann created to fund and run projects like the exchange. So we will provide it's liquidity as this has nothing to do with the foundation or the dev group.

We can not say exactly how long the beta tests will last. The purpose of the beta test is to find bugs and determine if the exchange is ready for being fully open to the public. So the beta test will end when we are satisfied with the exchange's stability. Hopefully it will not be more than 2 -3 weeks.

I just want to have an intellectual conversation about where auros are going when how and why

Anyone else interested in auros that way?

Guess we all are my friend! Sorry if my first reaction seemed a bit harsh, just got used to much to newbie accounts claiming they done well by selling.

I see how you must have thought it was a good trade, but let me tell you things might move fast soon and then you find yourself wondering how you are now looking to buy back @ 20000 what you sold @ 10000.

Personally I have been mining and buying AUR from early February 2014. In all this time I only sold about 1.500 coins in total. For me the long term possibilities of Iceland as one of the first mainstream adopters of Crypto is the reason I invest in this project. Not only financially, but also by participation.

As part of the dev-team I can tell you we are just beginning to see what potential this project really has. We had quite some bumps on the road this far, but things seem to look a bit more smooth up ahead ;-)

Storing up coins that you mine is one thing, but what are the costs to doing that?

Do you think that the long term price can ever reach stability against another measurement such as gold or will auros always fluctuate in price.

The following graph illustrates the price of 1 auro in my local currency the rand over 2015.

I'm not into mining lately - but I know that LTEX is a very dedicated member of Aur devteam. He is always trying to figure out ways to improve the network, the assets, etc. So I assume he is mining AUR so actively (very solid hashrate) to help stabilize the network, and doing so he improve his position - even if doing so ''at lost''. As I said, when you trully believe in a project, you don't count hours / energy / and somewhat expenses.

People should be very thankful to have such dedicated person around for such long time. There is plenty in Aur core team, and it is why Baldur confident passing along the lead.

And LTex may be the lonely neitherland hockey lover, ever.

Is AUR vat exempt in Iceland?

I have been in contact several times with the Icelandic tax, VAT team, and had a meeting with them on 22. Okt regarding VAT on Auroracoin and Bitcoin. This was the same day the European court issued that Bitcoin was exemt from VAT in the EU.  I have formally asked for clerification and if the European court ruling stands in Iceland, which it should. European high court overrules Icelandic courts as part of the EAA agreement.

I have pushed for answers a few timws since October, last week I sent my latest request for answers.
Thank you for your answer. Hope to see this clarified soon.

Is there already some kind of software ( to convert ISK prices into AUR instantly) developed to make it easy for retailers to accept Aurora coins?

My personally developed PriceAPI does that: http://ercinee.eu/

Payment system is also on the planning, but other things need to be done first.

Thanks BioMike and all others for their quick and clear reactions.

That depend what you mean by ''where''. If it's price related - well it's not much to be said from my part, except ''i think that we will see fluctuations, and that price will rise with time at a complete different level'.

It is my own opinion and does not reflect Aur team at all.

But if ''where'' is related to developement - it's pretty easy to answer. An exchange has been developped by some guys in iceland. This is a private project, that is founded by them, so not related with other entity like Aurarad Foundation. With such exchange open, icelanders will finally have a way to buy or sell AUR using their bank account. So this open a lot of opportunities.

What's next ?   As someone else pointed out, i believe next step is to facilitate AUR integration for merchand. I know there is already plans in that regard, but priority is the exchange and, in iceland, marketting it.

Still, this is an open source project, so it is why anyone can jump in and develop tools/projects. And it's been done as we speak by bimmerhead, Ltex, biomike and others.

This is very exciting lately i would say - and even if i can't predict how it will develop in the next several months - i can say for sure i want to be part of it !

For in person transaction - i am working at developping a local market using a startup plateforme named MoBuiNet. Still pretty experimental, but offer a lot of opportunity, being an hybrid between other plateformes like FB/Linkedit, but with a trust based connection network, a showroom (marketplace) and cryptocurrency as main vector.

We may create an icelandic only marketplace allowing merchands to show their products, websites, and accept AUR paiements.

The plateform is in it's early stage - but this is already pretty well done :

Just a question.
So, pretty soon there will be an AUR/ISK exchange. The following step might be creating places/markets/shops where the people can spend their Aurora coins. Is there already some kind of software ( to convert ISK prices into AUR instantly) developed to make it easy for retailers to accept Aurora coins?
