Phil have you tried contacting Ebang if they could sell their hardware more easily than Canaan at the moment?

Looks like Avalon updated their website to announce that sales will start on August 30th.

good  now if I could get a tracking number for the one I paid for .

I would order more on the 30th.

They cause more work for their company  with the slow replies.

I would order 3 at  a time if they were efficient with orders.

Instead I feel forced to get 1 at a time  and not order  until I get the one.

I placed 2 orders of the 741

first was slow but only about 8 days.
second is over 20 days.

third is yet to be ordered.

I feel your pain. I think they didn't plan on having to deal with such a high volume of individual orders. From what I understand their business model works best and primarily revolves around customers who order 50+ units at a time. Definitely don't think they were prepared for such an influx of people anchors to get their hands on equipment.

here is the deal for me  buysolar and I have the solar array  it provides 9kw to 13kw depending on the season.
we are expanding  to a bigger array  our new site can  be done in three stages each adds about  15kw to 20kw

this would be 45kw to 60kw
plus the 9kw to 13kw

so lets say stage:

 1 will be 14 avalon 741's
 2 will be 14 avalon 741's
 3 will be 14 avalon 741's

total of 42 more avalon's

this will be a 9 month expansion

And  42 avalon's is not small but  I just can't seem to simply order 2 or 3 at a time as my build up will be progressive .

I am mostly adding gpus as I get them with out the hassles I have buying here.

I really don't want to order from bit main at the moment as the s-9 needs more care to run.  the avalon are more bullet proof.

Oh I understand, I run a similar model. I don't buy 50 of anything at a time, but spread it out over several orders. The deal is, I think Canaan is setup to handle 10 people that buy 100 unit each, not 100 people that buy 10 each. Each order has a fixed minimum amount of time required to process it and get it out the door, I think they got caught off guard by the sheer number of people looking for immediately available hash power, not necessarily the number of hardware units. On a side note, I think this is great news for diversification. Glad to see Canaan is making a dent in the BTC hardware world. Hopefully with more positive long term reliability stories, folks will start valuing trouble-free ownership over a slight increase in efficiency.

It becomes frustrating to buy any gear except gpus.
And at the moment I have enough gpus.
I am looking to place a third order and they have not done the second one.

I have been in the game since 2011 but actually in the game with viable gear since 2012.  Before asics.

This has been a good year and expansion works for us so the lack of willing sellers becomes very frustrating to me and buysolar.

Wow Philip,

I had a different experience with them, I have place 2 orders as well.
First order was slow as well 8 days, one 741 and controller.
Second order was fairly quick  at 5 days, two 741's
Planning on ordering one more after they settle this mess which I hope soon.

Hello Everyone, anyone working Avalon, on 1200W PSU?   can you tell me can it handle?

I use a HP 1500 watt PSU with the Avalon 741 voltage offset set to 0. The PSU runs very hot which leads me to believe it is being stressed. If i set the voltage to -2 the PSU is still hot, but feels a bit more reasonable. The best results i've achieved is using a BITMAIN APW3 1600 watt PSU on 240v power. PSU stays warm, but not ridiculous.

I am using four of these two on each miner http://www.ebay.com/itm/hp-512327-B21-511778-001-750W-cs-hot-plug-power-supply-g6-g7-506821-/121586023981?epid=1542955798&hash=item1c4f177e2d:g:avwAAOSwax5Yrfcy

I use these beakout boards http://www.ebay.com/itm/DPS-1200FB-QB-6-Pin-A-Power-Supply-Breakout-Board-Adapter-For-Ethereum-Mining-/202014264431?hash=item2f08fd0c6f:g:XokAAOSwRIRZiaaT

and used these plugs from parallelminer, they make the best cables/plugs http://www.parallelminer.com/product/24-inch-16awg-6-pin-male-to-6-pin-male-pcie-power-cable/

I had made best offers for both of the ebay ones on top and got them for a little cheaper, I also ordered two extra PSU's since they where cheap enough.

I have been running my miners for about 2 weeks and no issues, the PSU's are warm to the touch and voltage offset to 0.

I found this being the cheapest way to power the Avalon miner for me at 120v.

Hello Everyone, anyone working Avalon, on 1200W PSU?   can you tell me can it handle?

Its risky - the specs want it to run at 1150W with up to a 15% variance, which would put you at 1322. Use a 1500 to be safe.

thanks that what I was thinking,  I wanted to order 2400W PSU from parallelminer.com  but  I read bad reviews some users waited 2 weeks before they ship products.  I do not want to wait so long.    can you give me link for 1500W PSU (if good price)  I will order.

I've never had that experience... Everything i've bought from there, including numerous 2400 watt PSU have shipped within 24-48 hours. They did have some packing delays during the Ethereum hardware rush a month or two ago, but aside from that they are quick to get stuff out the door. They also stand behind their products. I had an issue with a defective and damaged item, they were quick to address it and mail me a replacement.

I received an email yesterday from Lily.

He said they are working hard to get paid orders shipped, and that we should email is we don't have a tracking number by Aug. 26th.  I'll let everyone know once I see a tracking number.

No, 1150 W is the power consumption measured at wall.
HP 1200W server power supply is sufficient when your mains voltage is from 200V to 240V area.
End of story.

With the 93% PSU power efficiency in the Avalon specs the consumption in the 12VDC rail is about 1070W.

Ah ok - I was running mine at 120V, so that was the issue. Time to for a 220 circuit or two put in Smiley

Search eBay for: 684532-B21
That's the part # for HP's 1500W PSU's. Then just buy a common slot PSU breakout board for it somewhere. They are platinum plus so not exactly dirt cheap, but definitely cheaper than buying a 1500W ATX PSU.

you can also run it with two 750w PSU the 2400w requires 200v-240v which not everyone has if you're in the US.

Hello bitcointalk.
I'm also waiting for my two pieces of 741's. Received the payment address and made the payment two days ago.  They send me invoice after my request "Please confirm that you have received my payment". So I believe it's ok. But still no tracking number. I believe there's gonna be a delay due to the storm in Honk Kong.

Everyone keep in mind that there are only three people handling customer support and hundreds of backorders (read Steve's post one page back). Just give them some time to go through the backlog of shipments, catch up on support tickets, and then figure out how much stock is available before they update the site for new orders.
