I achieved OC by modifying /etc/init.d/cgminer.  Look for the --avalon-options argument.  The last number in the string is the clock speed.  Default is 282, I changed mine to 300.

--avalon-options 115200:24:10:45:300

At 300 it gets around 71.6GH/s, the fans get a little louder, and Temp3 rose from 42 to 43.

thanks Bogard, but i don;t know anything about Linux (windows boy here Cheesy )
in openwrt where i go and do what? Smiley

so Avalon can mine other coins as well?!
please, can someone post a guide how we can OC Avalon?
what vardiff should i select? 64 is good?
You can mine any coin that use double SHA-256 for hashing.

...annnnd it's paid for itself, USD-wise.  33 BTC earned in just 91 hours.   Shocked
on which lucky pool you are?

Well, uh, I didn't mine BTC the whole time.  Some of the time I was [solo]mining TRC, which I then dumped on an exchange for BTC.

Sadly, mining to bitcoind directly does not work well.

I use eloipool with bitcoind.

Could you explain what about it doesn't work well?

Jeff, can you post how you setup eloipool and p2pool?

Well, I just earned 50+ BTC last night solo mining.  Smiley

Are you just using a computer running the bitcoind server for this or do you actually have a pool software (like stratum-mining) going that only you're using? I didn't figure the bitcoind server would be responsive enough to handle the requests from the ASIC's in a timely manner, but I don't really know much about that system.

Tomorrow the machine will be put on balcony, which is -15 degree for the moment, is there a way to remote login to web interface?

Do you update the firmware while mining? If you stop the cgminer, how can you make sure it will not be activated again by scheduler?

Not a good idea dude. Air will condese and turn into eatter inside your avalon  - too big temperature difference

A bit more to go to break-even BTC-wise yet.

It's fine, not hot at all.
The inside of the chip is called a 'die'.
And with these temps you cannot fry your die Wink

Ha! Now I understand. I thought my chip was going to die  Shocked

PS: when temp3 is about 50 C, the chip die is only about 65C, completely no problem. not necessary to do too hard, we already over-engineered it for you.
it's good to hear that care and attention was put into the design the Avalon housing.

thank you for providing those details

Does this mean 47 is good or is my chip going to die?

adding a fans and drilling a holes is completely different thing. So leting hot air out with decreased air presure may turn out to be better

front fans press "cool air" inside the PSU. drill holes will reduce the amount of cool air. so the PSU will die faster.

the air blow to PSU didn't go through module heatsink, so they are maintain cool.

drill holes about the PSU will let those valuable cool air run over...

What do you consider the maximum safe temperature for Temp3 for long term mining? Spring/Summer is coming and I'm sure my rig will be consistently over 50C since it is close right now.
