As far as I see today's recruitment market lacks a reliable system showing specialist’s performance and assessment throughout the whole career rather than when he/she quits a job.

It's really so, because all the positive referencies are given when a candidate is leaving a company.

It’s natural that people quit their job, but there're hard feelings between a worker and his/her former boss very often.

It shouldn't be this way though. Knowing what you’re worth is essential for a person’s self-perception and by showing skills and abilities to the world it becomes much easier for people to find the job with a higher salary and a better boss.

Marenat, how do you find your performance in a new team now?

Just great! I am getting lots of moral support from my new team now.

Practice proves that an employee can perform quite well in a new team even without very flattering recommendations.

My new team is motivating me even more than money. Though a high salary is part of job satisfaction, too.

Low wages year after year?

They can really ruin your self-esteem. Slowly but surely.

I quit my job of 10 years a few days ago. Too much drama. Just walked out in the middle of the shift, muttering “I quit” to the boss as I walked by. Living off of savings for a while and catching up on some personal hobbies. Highly recommended.

Great experience! Have you built a strong reputation to have a better job?

Yeah, sure! And I have found a better job (better pay, better hours, better benefits). Now there is a far better opportunity to use/improve my skills and abilities. Though I left the previous job on bad terms. My former employer refused to give any reference.

I would do just about any job as long as the pay is right. Everyone has their number. But now I've got a better job than I had before.

What could have made you stay at your previous job if there had been any chance to do that?

For me, my old job would've had to raise my pay by literally four times for me to consider staying. Of course, they wouldn't actually ever do that.

I would quit the job I love only because of bad management.

According to the study from Harvard Business Review, there are three steady reasons why people leave a current job:
  • Relationship with the boss;
  • Steady wage for years;
  • Unchallenging tasks.

I would resign from my current job only if my ethics or morals were challenged.
