BBR is "family"....

...
The market has decided BBR is 3rd.  That's not a bad showing, and the competition makes all participants stronger.
...

Third or fourth, since actually Bytecoin has a 33% higher market cap than Monero. This is likely due to manipulation, but which markets aren't manipulated?

The lack of liquidating, volume, consistency and stability in all crypto "markets" makes the so-called market cap next to useless. It's merely a gimmick for speculators and manipulators.

In terms of real world adoption all coins (including Bitcoin) are equal nowhere. At least 99.999% of the world's population have no dealing with crypto, despite it being mooted as the supposed successor to fiat. We're at the bottom of the first innings, in terms of what really matters.

Should crypto gain traction and should there prove to be real world use cases for anon coins... that's when any debate of "what-coin-is-more-valuable-than-others" makes a semblance of sense. Until then it's all blah blah blah hyperbole nonsense.

Crypto is the separation of Power and State.
BBR is "family".... provided it knows it's place as "backup to XMR"?

BBR is "family".... provided it knows it's place as 'third fiddle" and subservient to the self-proclaimed "new wealthy elite" of XMR?

BBR is "family".... provided its Dev can save the day when hackers look to exploit the Crytonote code?

BBR is "family".... provided its no more than 1/20 the market cap of XMR?

You're here trolling... yet we are "attacking each other" because I write two letters that (for me) make BBR a better bet than XMR and XDN combined..... CZ?

Don't get it twisted, this is still Boolberry thread, GTFOH with that talk.

I never said nor implied any of that; you sure do like to put words in my mouth.

The market has decided BBR is 3rd.  That's not a bad showing, and the competition makes all participants stronger.

XMR has a huge amount of internal and external development compared to her little sisters.

As a HLODER, I'd be perfectly happy to see BBR overtake XMR and/or XDN.

But the real target is Darkcoin AKA Dash, not BBR's bigger and more active Cryptonote siblings.

Instead of attacking other coins, why not ask why BBR is no longer mentioned in SuperNET updates?

Let's be serious. BBR has CZ.  Wink

Since when?  6 months ago?

In what sense?  In the way Litecoin "has" coblee?

XDN has a very slick GUI wallet and you can mine directly in it, plus they seem to have some sort of marketing effort going on.

I like CZ and respect his skills, but dNote is no slouch either.

Cryptonote family needs to stop attacking each other and focus on the real enemy.  Which is the pre-insta-mined scam coin called Darkcoin or Dash.

Boolberry doesn't need to play second fiddle to any other crypto-currency, especially given BBR is "pretty much finished" and XMR doesn't even have an official GUI...

The contents SuperNET/ it's newsletter is a question for SuperNET, not BBR.

BBR isn't second Cryptonote fiddle, it's third.  XDN is second.  I was trying to be nice.   Wink

The questionable progress on the formerly hyped BBR SuperNET integration is a question for both of them.

XMR has like five GUIs.  The official one should be amazing when it's done.  But it's not like anyone uses the Official Bitcoin GUI (if one even exists).   Roll Eyes

Is Boolberry still regarded a core coin at SuperNET? This newsletter doesn't mention it: http://nxter.org/supernet-newsletter-17/

Good.  I prefer to see BBR and SuperNET go their separate ways.

BBR has a future as the hot-swap backup to XMR, as LTC is to BTC.

It's pretty much finished and does what it says on the box.

No further bells & whistles are required.

OTOH, SuperNET is an endless torrent of bells & whistles where nothing is ever finished, much less does what was announced.

My pool bbr.mbkpool.info had problems with payments lately. It was due to wallet getting out of sync like many times before. All miner payments for last few days have been sent. I rescheduled the wallet restart script to prevent such problems in the future.
Just noticed - cncoin.farm has 97% of total hash rate. It's a reliable pool but it doesn't look good for the coin. Please, use solo miner or some other pool if you can.

Hey, here's a git diff that fixes that if it's that the wallet seems to stop checking for updates.

Code:
diff --git a/src/wallet/wallet2.cpp b/src/wallet/wallet2.cpp
index a525a86..c8d7ee4 100644
--- a/src/wallet/wallet2.cpp
+++ b/src/wallet/wallet2.cpp

I believe that came from Onishin in #monero-pools when he posted it there about monero's wallet doing that a while ago.   Haven't had to restart because of this issue since doing this. Now not being able to make a payment because of dust and transaction being too large bites me all the time.

This is not perfect solution, since wallet2 class used in differen components, and this approach could broke or frees GUI for example.
Just commited more correct solution that should work for pools as well.
(The real problem was cz throwing exception that killed RPC server thread)

Thanks to Clintar to point to this problem

ATTENTION: Anyone mining at cncoin.farm, watch out for increased fees. I'd like people to spread the hash around. Looks like some solo mining has dropped off or something. I'll wait a bit and see how it goes, but I think I should just up it to 3% now as a kicker.

...snip...
thank you. If all I want to do is create an address to send BBR to cold storage can I do that with simplewallet even before the blockchain synch is complete?

My first thought was to use simple wallet but the guide here said that my password would be created in my command history and I was not sure how to solve that:

http://boolberry.com/howto.html#wallet

"To generate a new wallet, use this command:

    simplewallet --generate-new-wallet="path\to\file\want_to_be_reach.bin"

You will then be prompted for a password. There is an option to enter the password on the command line, but then the password will be saved in your command history which can be read by others."

If you haven't already gone past that point, your history isn't saved in Windows anyway (unless something changed in windows 8 I guess).  You probably just don't want to add the --password option anyway, and just type it in. It just means if you put it on the command line like --password "MySecret" then someone could come to your computer and hit the up arrow to get to that password. Just don't set that and it will ask you for a password. You don't have to sync. Just send to that address.

Has anyone verified the BBR GUI is free from virus?

Firefox is warning me when I download it. Is there an easy way I can create a cold wallet address to send to without downloading the GUI at all?

Thanks

The file is fine.  Firefox doesn't like the .exe file.

I'm assuming you're using Windows.  If so there are two downloads on the Boolberry downloads page.  One is "Full Installer" and the other is "Full Package".  The "Full Installer" is an .exe file and that is what's causing Firefox to give you a warning.  The "Full Package" is a zip file.  I personally don't like using installers if I don't have to so I use the "Full Package" and unzip to a directory of my choosing and run the qt-boolb.exe from there.  Maybe use the "Full Package" .zip download and then do a mandatory check of the .exe at virustotal.com before launching.  Then just wait for it to download the blockchain which will take some time.

You can also use the command line simplewallet which is included in the "Full Package" .zip download.  http://boolberry.com/howto.html#wallet
