Is there an explorer somewhere?

How many coins are in circulation at the moment?

Thanks...

Block explorer is there: https://minergate.com/blockchain/bcn/blocks

Thanks for that  Grin

So, by my fag packet calculations there are around 100 billion coins already in existence? I've assumed a 200,000 coin per block average based on what I see in the explorer......

Edit:

Actually, I think I am reading the explorer wrong - can anyone give me a figure?

Not sure about the amount of coins because each block reward is different, however the chain is 1.8 years old and was only announced 9 weeks ago.

Yeah, it's not great is it? I think this will handicap the coin beyond recovery.

Oh well, on to the next......

Where can I find precompiled ready to use cpuminermulti?

Don't know a thing about any kind of code. Cheesy

33zer0w0lf,
I've got something very weird going on BCN's new pool: http://bcn.extremepool.org

My hash rate jumps up and down from 20 h/s to median 200-300 h/s and even sometimes up to 900 h/s.

I also see that the pool's total hash rate is also jumping up and down. Is it a bug? What could be the reason? Thank you!
what miner? the new cpuminer?

Yes, the new cpuminer-multi. However, it seems like the pool is showing the hash rate incorrectly. Now cpuminer shows that I have 152 h/s, when the pool is showing just 29 h/s (used to be 350 for some time).
the devs are working on this issue, it has to do with Longpolling not the pool

So, the simpleminer from the first post link is the latest and greatest miner we have among those that have passed through community's un-de-optimization? And, are the simpleminer of BCN and MRO the same in code? Wonder if I can use the latest optimization of MRO simpleminer for mining BCN?

And, which cpuminer by pooler to use 2.3.3?

I don't know 100% if simpleminer from Monero will work, but it probably will.

There is a cpuminer fork with the cryptonight support at

https://github.com/LucasJones/cpuminer-multi

It may be slightly more optimized than simpleminer, but the differences are probably small and depend on hardware.

My concern with Monero is that optimized miner was always closed-source until a week in production. It happened each time the optimization takes place.

There was no closed source release of anything from the Monero project. It has all been released on github, when practical with accompanying Windows, Mac and Linux binaries. We can't control what everyone else does, but we have certainly encouraged optimized miner developers to share them, in one case offering a bounty (though it turned out not to be necessary as we independently developed comparable optimizations).

As far as I remember, it was me who was asking the questions and finally pushed NoodleDoodle to release the source of the first optimization "round". Where's my bounty then? Smiley

NoodleDoodle was not at the time a Monero developer. His first commit to github was the "optimized" (if you want to call it that) miner, which he developed on his own initiative as a individual miner. He was encouraged not only by you, but also by members of the Monero team to open source it, which he did. He has since contributed further optimizations.

As it turns out all these optimizations were really (very likely) un-de-optimizations. If you wanted them released earlier you should get after the bytecoin devs about it. They supposedly had two years to do it.

Please, go to discuss Monero to the Monero thread. Thanks in advance.

I agree. I never bring it up here, but if other people make false statements about it I'm going to respond to it.

I have a problem with the Mac version. Each time I try to start simplewallet it returns this error:

Code:
Error: wallet failed to connect to daemon (http://localhost:8081). Daemon either is not started or passed wrong port. Please, make sure that daemon is running or restart the wallet with correct daemon address.

Why is it so?

Obvious question: do you have dytecoind running (Bytecoin daemon) and synchronized?

Of course. It's running and synchronized.

Are you using some additional options when starting wallet?

ninja edit: nvm, didn't notice a reply

Did you run any other CryptoNote coin?
Try relaunching the daemon and if doesn't help, reboot your system. This might work.

We're released two rounds of miner optimizations in open source, improving on the original bytecoin miner by approximately 10x (hardware dependent).
