It's a good warning over all but its rare to come across fake apps from new projects, I've promoted of over three different projects that runs on different blockchain but i have no problem with their wallet apps, doing your own research first can easily safe you from such bad projects

the point is we have to remain cautious, but regarding issues or campaign programs such as requiring participants to install any application, at least i will not be interested and will immediately stop reading other requirements when i find such requirements and immediately to leave the campaign, i just don't want make mistakes just because of a few cents as a reward

I agree with you. As a bounty hunter, I am most lazy if there are bounties with the rules they must download wallet application before joining. Sometimes if the rules are like that, I will not join that the bounty project. Because for reasons like what the OP said, downloading applications that are prone to malware, viruses and phishing. So I really keep my pc safe from phishing.

Privacy is always important
Always keep your phone or PC away from any new project that you will need to install apps on your phone and PC.
Agree but it depends on what project if they are going to share them as an opensource well we can use that opensource to review if it has a security issue.

That is why opensource is very important in any project.

If you are going to install some apps PC or mobile better use a device that doesn't have important files. Or the best shot for me is install android OS to PC where you can use an Android OS and install any Android apps. Like Remix OS where you can test their wallet on that OS in your Desktop PC. You can also install it using sandbox or virtual box so that you are far to any vulnerability issues.

I'm going to bump this thread to remind everyone again to be extra careful in downloading apps for both bounties and airdrops.

Another scam wallet was exposed recently but it came a bit late for some hunters who already downloaded the shitcoin wallet. Read these topics for more informations:
Good information, can save lot of people from being a victim for these kind of traps.

When a project wants us to install wallet to receive payments on mobile we have to check the permissions required for them,if its asking too much then possibly its scam and also can report them to google to remove them from playstore.

I have been victimized by these types of airdrops and bounties before and it was really frustrating because I didn't receive my payment and my personal information, as well as my private keys, were put into risk. I learned how to get rid of bounties and airdrops which are asking for too many tasks this time because we might only be putting our personal details at risk.

You should try to avoid any erc20 token projects because they are mostly trash cans, if you can find a project running on a separate blockchain it might worth giving a try, still you have to do research

Thank you for your suggestion. If the bounty campaign requires downloading some software, I will give up the bounty campaign for this project because I find it troublesome.

I learnt to be careful with the app store when I downloaded a wallet nd used the qr scanner and it replaced the copies address with the scammer's address. Luckily I reported it and it was soon taken down.
You should not be suspicious of everything though. Many projects are legit and having their own app is stepping up the game far beyond the usually ICO DIY packages on offer.

I did an airdrop for a token called Rally token and was paid over $10 just for installing it. So be careful but don't go over the top. Use your own judgement as to which projects you will give a try. Especially if you are interested in the app and know what it does.

idk why people still download some app from airdrop or bounty with no responsible
as long the manager have a "trust" from this forum , i guess that okay enough.
then ,well , i have NOD antivirus on my android , and that helpfull , the system can detect some suspicious application that requests access to certain things.

downloading app is required to some airdrop or bounty because that is part of thier task  . the file could be a wallet in order for you to recieve your coins . other app are like social media platform where you need to sign up and link your email so that they can verify your work and pay you at the end of the campaign   .  installing antivirus is helpful , you can uninstall the app and decline from continuing if the antivirus detect something   .

My data has also been stolen, maybe because I have participated in an unnatural campaign, since then I became even more careful when I joined the campaign, some campaigns require members to register on the site, my advice is don't ever register using your primary email and password.

Many  like that, including I have also felt, because there are many bounties who are scamer so they only look for participants to register on the site or application with the reason for distribution through it, but in fact my funds are lost in the exchange of assets starting from that also I have never again for the bounty on the list listed on the website.

Personally i don't see the reason why anyone will participate in a campaign that requires you to download app because if every campaign is asking us to download app, how much of space do we have on our android to do all that, you better be wise, do not let anyone steal your information.
Your point doesn't make any sense sorry to say, few new projects that have their own separate blockchain like sero project, veil project etc will surely requires separate wallet, either pc or mobile it will be different from using ETH wallets like 99% of all new projects

Well said. I'd say that avoid any bounty campaigns that have anything else other than doing the task that you're supposed to be doing, whether that is the twitter campaign, signature campaign, or translations.

If they are looking to ask you to do anything on top of your duties, don't do it.

This includes app downloads, asking for additional verification in terms of KYC (ironic, since the majority of the projects I see aren't even registered entities themselves), and providing your personal information in general. It's highly predatory and could lead to a loss on your end more than just your time, if their intents were malicious.

If you find any issue on the app you can directly report that on Google Play Store or app Store.

Mostly e apple team doesn't hello Trojan contained softwares in their app store but in Android you can find some malwares but if you see the reviews and rating you can come to conclusion whether it is useful or not.

I am generally avoiding any bounty program asking to download its app, even if it is easy to use. I am not comfortable with this requirement because they are forcing the hunters to download an app not necessarily useful for them, and that is a bad method of advertising.

CryptoTalk.Org - Get Paid for every Post!
First of all, they should always think about the first priority when it comes to online world and that is security. They should not prioritize the potential income when they are risking their security. It is best to avoid this kind of scam and just move on and find another opportunity rather than risking it all for just a few dollars.

You can been careful with many bounty campaign using download wallet platform, so far I joined only with minexcoin have download wallet but after Minexcoin bounty campaign is ended, now I am only joined bounty campaign using erc20 wallet or using other platform wallet without have to download first.

what you got on minexcoin ? is the reward worth the effort of the task ?
I've looking for a good project but almost all erc20 tokens are trash right now Sad
