i know that people will try to put virus on their apps, they try to make the most of it, even if its not the companies, bad employee also can put virus, trojan, or backdoor on their app without the companies knowing it. but if its on google play store that means its safe right? i don't really know how that work.

I am also very suspicious of anything I need to download but not to the point of paranoia.  If the project is about a app or the app is part of it then that is fine. Wallet is fine too. If it is their own wallet then they will not ask for any privatekey since that wallet is the wallet that you get the private key from. Just make sure it is the official wallet made by the devs. If you have to enter a private key for eth, for example, you can make a new wallet and use that, though they should not be asking such things and I would stay away just based on that.

I am not discouraging hunters to join bounty campaigns that requires you to download their app or wallet. This is just a friendly reminder to everyone that we should be careful since there have been some malicious apps used to collect personal information and steal funds from mobile/pc. There were also instances where hackers were able to exploit the vulnerabilities of some apps.

If you still wish to continue and download their app, at least take some measures like not storing your private keys/seed phrase in your phone/pc to protect your funds.

If they have a GitHub repository and it is an open sourced and developers have proven that the application is clean we can proceed with cautions, although it is really not recommended to download any application or new wallet coming from a new projects.

This is a fair warning to all new and veteran hunters. Judging on the comments, it seems some are way too confident with their anti-virus and too complacent. I have uninstalled all apps I was required to download before. It's just too risky to install apps that has not been reviewed yet.

First, it is risky to invest in new born projects, because all investors know is their OPs, Whitepaper, and very basics disclosed.
Second, it is risky to download and install wallets from new-born projects, because it might contain unknown threats. Even with antivirus softwares, new threats that have not been appeared in data sources are able to damage your devices and steal your important identities.

wow, this is exactly my thought. Bounty hunters should be wary about some apps that you need to download and install such as wallets in able to join a bounty campaign. Your private keys might got stolen from you with out you even knowing how it happened.

If the project that required to download the application was a trustworthy. Why should i afraid off. usually your pc or laptop computers warned you if you installed some apps that unverified in the appstore of what operating system youll be used. We can avoid these problem by just installing a working Anti-virus and other security inhancement system in your pc or laptop computers. so no worries as long as its working.

I will not join any bounty that requires me to download an application even if they offer high rewards, it's not worth it, it's very unusual if they ask you to do that, or if they ask you to download the application should have a github version so every coder can check if the application or file is clean or not

I have also noticed that some cheaters are coming up with download app bounty campaign which does not seem to be great because with wallets and other things where we are holding our coins we need to be careful and stay away from such links, apps and wallets.

I rarely follow a bounty that requires downloading app, but I often do it on airdrop and it's safe because I always choose the application that would really work and not be too tempted by the rewards they offer and prefer airdrop with small rewards and also do an apk scan on an online antivirus service provider if I think it's safe I'll install it.

Thanks for the warning.
True, I try not to participate in such campaigns. Sometimes it is better to pass by the supposedly profitable offer than to lose everything (it was with me).

Just by looking at the app interface, you can tell if it's an application with trojans. Because such applications will have a non-polished interface and slow processing tasks in the application

I don't see anything wrong with bounties asking participants to download wallet app ,you want to participate in the bounty ? You have to download the bounty project wallet ,if you don't want mobile wallet then download the windows wallet

We have so many campaigns like that around. Majorly, some of them are just to download there wallet and that's all. For me, the very moment and done with such project, I uninstall the app.

Good reminder, but there are some good project which require us to download their wallet, as i tried it, nothing happens to my cellphone data's, but after i got the tokens from those participation i immediately uninstalled those apps, because it can drained my battery, so the best protection is to have alternative phones for wallet downloads.

Personally i don't see the reason why anyone will participate in a campaign that requires you to download app because if every campaign is asking us to download app, how much of space do we have on our android to do all that, you better be wise, do not let anyone steal your information.

Another scam wallet was exposed recently but it came a bit late for some hunters who already downloaded the shitcoin wallet. Read these topics for more informations:
