The Democratic nominee selection still has a lot of time to run but I think Biden for one is no longer suitable to stand as a presidential candidate not so much because of his age but because of his personality. The same has to go for Sanders.

As for Pete Buttigieg, I do not see anything charismatic when I look of him (or Trump for that matter) but is he really the best the Democrats can do to try and beat Trump in November?

"Deer in the headlights" sounds about right for Pete. Does anybody know how to pronounce his surname? Is it "Butt-igg-ejj" or "Buttig-eeg" or something else?

I don't know... based on looks I'd go with Pete I think.

I disagree.  Based on attractiveness, you may have a point.  I can't say for sure because I'm heterosexual, and neither are capable of making me switch teams.

But there's something else in their looks that would encourage me to pick Trump.  It's that "deer in the headlights" look in Pete's eyes, and the "wolf on the hunt" look in Trump's.  The two's track record would suggest something in their personalities correlates with "the look."

Other than being the same gender, Pete is pretty much the opposite of trump in every other way, at least more so than any other candidate imo.

Wealth, Hair, Age, Stature, Military History, Sexual Orientation,  Personality, Intelligence

...track record.  Roll Eyes

Even a liberal rag like the LA Times can't ignore, omit, or hide his failed policies and how they affected South Bend, Indiana while he was mayor for the last 8 years.  Of course they desperately attempt to whitewash his failures by crediting him with successes on which a mayor has absolutely no impact.

If you plan on making your choice based on the attributes you listed, I would suggest you deserve the government you get: A political party full of petty, petulant, corrupt, career politicians who'll make every effort to thwart the American Citizen in order to gain political favor with those who are not American Citizens.

Ah yes, I forgot about that. Having a simple 51-49 majority would not work because that would be undemocratic so the 2/3rds minimum would be required.

No, it takes 2/3 so ~20 Republicans would need to flip.

Well, this isn't a simple vote mate. ''For criminal trials, nearly every state requires the jury to produce a unanimous verdict.'' So, normally, it's not 2/3, it's everyone or nothing.

Our criminal justice system is based on a system designed to find 10 guilty men Not Guilty for every one innocent man found Guilty.  In reality it's more like 100 -1, especially for people who can afford a good lawyer.

A Senate trial is not a criminal trial, and someone who is convicted and removed is still explicitly considered innocent of any crime until found guilty in a criminal trial.

If it were a real criminal trial, literally every Senator would be removed from the jury before the trial even started.

maybe three and a half

What Bloomberg lacks in height he makes up for in arrogance, so I'll give you four.  Despite the fact that you still have four(ish) candidates, Trump will triumph.

Will Bernie get the DNC nomination?  I think they're doing everything they can to cheat him out of the Iowa delegates.  The DNC knows they'll never beat Trump with a socialist as their nominee.  But it's looking like that's the way it's going to go.  I really don't see any alternative at this point, not even Alfred E. Neuman.

I think that paper ripping antic sealed Trump's eddie13's victory.  @suchmoon, you might as well pay up now.   Tongue

Pffftttt... I got three candidates, maybe three and a half, against one. Obviously I'm winning.

Donald J Trump not running for any reason (primaried out, dead, impeached, etc) means a draw even if he wins via write-in.

Well, I guess we made it through that part.. Or is their much more "impeachment" to drag on as long as possible to use against Trump in the elections?

Gerald Nadler isn't satisfied, he's still trying to dig up dirt.  Now he's going back to the Kavanaugh nomination and FBI investigation to grasp at more straws.

Pelosi attentionwhores ripping paper..
I agree, that was quite lame. Next year she should get a shredder.

She sure can be a petty, petulant brat.  I wish they would all grow up and put their hatred aside.  In his SOTU address Trump said, (I'll paraphrase) the only victories that matter in Washington are those that deliver for the American people.  I think he was specifically talking about his aquittal, but that's as close as he got to mentioning the impeachment effort, which was obviously wrought with partisan bias.

So only one of the Republicans (Romney) voted to impeach the sitting President from 53 - making it a 48 to 52 failure to impeach.

If just 3 others managed to find any wrong doing then Trump would have removed from office.

I guess they did not see anything wrong with the sitting US president speaking to his Ukrainian counterpart telling him that he needed to dig up dirt on a political opponent otherwise military aid (which it was due under NATO) would be delayed or postponed indefinitely. Removing the US ambassador to Ukraine after she kicked up a fuss about the blackmail and did not want to be a part of it, also probably does not constitute wrong doing in the eyes of the other 52 Republican party representatives.

Oh well... Let us see what happens in November when the elections take place.

"acquitted"
What does this do to the odds?
"Trump is found "innocent" of quid for blow (whatever madeup charges were)"
Iowa screwing Bernie; igniting the extreme soc/com leftists to split the D..
Buttpirate VS Trump?
Biden burning in flames? (least insane of D's despite the fact that he makes out with his granddaughter on camera)
83% of independents approve of last presidential address..

It's an interesting thought but what if they can't get the legislation through to actually pay off the student loans?
Even if they say they will, or want to, pay off student loans, do you think they could actually pull it off?
I have doubts..
I believe this topic should be renamed. I suggest "To Trump or not to Trump" as new title. Grin

If anyone is able to take out student loans, borrowing the max and putting it all on Biden to win the nomination seems like almost a freeroll.
You are assuming that Pocahontas, or sanders would automatically beat trump, and I don’t think this is the case. Both are too extreme for mainstream voters and really appeal to fringe democratic voters, who are more likely to vote in a primary.

It also doesn’t account for the possibility that no one will win in the first round at the convention that could result in someone like Clinton getting the nomination.

I'm talking about the primary, not assuming anyone will automatically beat Trump in the general election.
The biggest assumption is that if Bernie or Warren win (and the Biden bet lost) you wouldn't have to pay off the loan.  I was mostly joking though, it's just something interesting to think about.
If you are describing it as a ‘free roll’ the assumption would be that Bernie or Warren would win. Trump isn’t canceling student debt, so Biden loosing the nomination and Trump loosing the general is the only way that bet is a freeroll.

Unless you are saying that Trump winning the general will do so much for the economy that a student in college stands to earn a high enough of a higher wage that he can afford to throw away one semesters worth of tuition.

You're right.  I wasn't thinking before typing lol.

Ok lets change that to if Bernie or Warren win the nomination, max out your student loans and bet it all on Trump.
