Yeah, I really do believe that the outcome of elections make a difference in the direction of the USA. Presidents decide which laws are passed, how they're enforced, who enforces them, how our taxes are calculated, how our taxes are used, who we go to war with, who we go to war for, they negotiate trade deals with other countries. I could go on.

Is 'the president doesn't matter' really a thing?

.01 is fine. Public arb is fine, but just picking one seems simpler. There should be some sort of fee for going to arbitration either way though. It keeps things simple and otherwise it's just a freeroll if things are close.

I feel like if the election is close, and the Democrat looks to have won, some weird stuff is going to happen and I don't want to have to argue to win a bet.

It depends. If Joe Biden wins the nomination, I think he beats Trump because Joe will pick up too many moderates and independents. That being said, if anyone other than Joe Biden wins, I think Trump takes the election. Interesting predicament because right now Joe holds the plurality of the democratic base, however, the moderate wing of the democratic party is not enough to take the cake because both Sanders and Warren's base total up more than Biden's support. Of course, Warren and Sanders can't both win so one of these candidates bases are going to have to cross over when one drops out which means Joe Biden can be beat.

This is why I won't place any bets right now. It all depends on who wins the nomination.
