When I saw this thread, my first thought was that it was a new one even though I saw it was quite a few pages long--I thought I might have missed it in the past couple of days. I chuckled when I opened it and saw how old it actually is and realized for just how long I've been hearing about the fabled New Forum Software.

I'm almost certain said new software is never coming out, though I haven't checked for any new developments in the thread dedicated to it. I'm just assuming that since it's taken so long, things that might have been worked on in the past would be, if not obsolete, not real improvements to the forum as it currently is. Fine by me, though.

Some Epochtalk test sites were created as reflected on this thread (I believe only Coinbistro is still running), but of course they allow to test the software with newly generated content, which is a broader goal from the perspective of a Bitcointalk user, but that lacks facilitating a more focused approach based on a migrated database and a parametrized environment to Bitcointalk’s future environment (were it to eventually crystalize).

. By the way, I'm only using a smartphone right now and internet connection is definitely not a problem (I think so) because I have a stable one. I don't really know what's wrong, I hope someone could help me regarding this.

please keep the old forum.

its the gold standard. plain html based on a proven hardened php solution (smf).

this funky new react/angular/node.JS stuff, forget it. this tech changes too fast and is prone to problems.

i would not wonder if the database leaks came from this beta...

Great, but i think that some programmers would stop to use Bitcointalk because new version allow to browse only with Javascript, allot of people are aware about the vulnerabilities.

The looks don't matter that much IMO, the functionality does. Besides, that is subjective (some people will like it, and some will prefer the SMF look).
