Depositing always works.
I know that poker sites usually don't typically go any lower than 40bb. And to be honest, if you're in the micros I don't think 100bb buy-ins are too difficult. Cap strategy at those stakes isn't really worth it, either
I fail to see any benefit of having say 40 bb on the lowest stake tables. I do see benefits of small-stake tables being a place you can play with any left-over btc or small tournament winnings. Yesterday few people wanted to play cash game after the freeroll and no game happened (at least not when I was around).
Depositing not always work. You're not going to deposit when you want to play for only ~15 mins after the event (confirmation can take longer than that), or when there's only one guy sat at the table with ~$10 worth and the recommended fee is 33% of your potential max winning.
Sure, when poker gets traction it won't be much of an issue, but before then, people tend to dip their toes with tiny amounts, so getting
any action should be a priority at the start.
