Nunez out of the Luton game as well. Holy fucking shit, I picked 3 Liverpool players for the DGW and it seems that all 3 got injured in the 1st game and will be missing the 2nd one.
2 are surely out, we'll see what the call is with Salah.

You just can't make this shit up.

This season is going on like a nightmare for Liverpool. Aside from the fantasy team you must be quite sad as a Liverpool fan as well. Is there any news about whether the injured players will get well until the Nott'm Forest match on March 2nd?

I want to buy Son by selling Jota. However Liverpool and Tottenham both have a blank week on gw26 which makes things quite difficult for me.

I'm 5 points behind the top players this week, so feeling overly confident about my FPL abilities this week, esp with 6 players yet to amass points (heh heh).

With all the injuries ongoing, it's a minefield that hasn't quite affected me yet (but I see it as repayment for many weeks with multiple long injuries).

This robot has a strange way of discrediting efforts; we know buwaytress had no idea how he got there, but you didn't have to make it so obvious. In FPL, the more differential points you score, the higher your chances of reaching the top.
Buwaytress knows I consider him a friend, and that was just that. A way to honor his incredible talent of picking poor fantasy options. That is also fine since he is kicking my ass often in other pools. Just like he just took AFCON money home.

You are on the other hand a perfect target for all kinds of jabs since we always get a reaction  Grin Hope we will catch a drink once as well. It is always nice to put a face to nickname.

Trust me, I'm happy to discredit my own efforts. That 85 top score was a result of abandoning two game weeks, and forgetting to change bench (hence the right keeper played haha).

Don't worry, we will all sit down and break bread together one fine day (and drink some of Ige's whiskey).

When choosing players, I took into account the empty game week. Me and cryptofrka (as he said earlier) are not even in the top 5 and the gap from first place is about 90 points, and the inclusion of Salah and his appointment as captain was logical.

There are some rumors that Salah has renewed his hamstring injury and that he's doubtful for the Luton game.
If that happens, we don't get another captain for that game (I asked Trofo already), which means that we'll get destroyed - Haaland's got an easy game coming.

I based all on Salah vs Luton, used both my wildcard and my triple captain for that to happen. Nothing's going my way recently, in any of the competitions.

FPL should just make all new prospective transfers revocable at least until the current transfer deadline has elapsed  Lips sealed Angry Angry

Speaking of Salah, I think this might this could be some cautionary motive, because he sprinted quite a lot (unplanned, I'd say!) on Saturday, and we all know how reoccurring hamstring troubles can be with that, meanwhile there is a partially more important fixture against Chelsea that he could be saved for, but I doubt he wouldn't be getting a some playing time vs Luton, only problem is that they're a quite physical team as well, which could all warrant the necessary cautions being taken so as to not aggravate the problem.

That being said, Haaland does have a whole lot of making up to do!!!

Getting Mo Salah right this game week doesn't seem logical to me, especially given the fact they have blank week for the next round [..]

At first, I planned to attract Salah for -4 and make him a triple captain (by selling the injured TAA in favor of Bradley).

But the news that P'Porro will miss the match and the fact that Kelleher will replace Alisson during DGW forced me to activate the WC. Yes, I couldn't use my TC but I reformed my team by getting rid of very expensive defense (P'Porro, TAA, Ederson) and brought in Haaland, Salah, Toney. If I had not activated the wild card, I would have had to think about how to fit 5 players on the bench + goalkeeper.

Another plus is that I found a balance between the rotation of goalkeepers. Kelleher/Neto complement each other well, and even if Alisson returns, Bournemouth has a good enough schedule after the double game week that I won't have to think about replacing Kelleher.

Quote

I'm also prepared for an empty game week, and 2 free transfers will allow me to be more flexible.

Almost all the players have favorable matches, and on the bench are Salah, Kelleher, Bradley who will meet Nott'm Forest in a week. Doughty will of course wait for DGW since he has good attacking potential. So for me this is the most logical strategy to move forward in our league.

For me it does, having him triple captain in 120 minutes I expected him to play against bad opposition is a no-brainer. I have a plan for the blank week, it's only 1 game for Salah and he'll be benched, while Jota will be sold.
I simply have to go with a differentiator, that was my reasoning. That's why I'll play the rest of the season without Haaland as well.

I'm in 8th, top 5 get the prizes. If I play with logic, the best I can do is 5th - and that's a big maybe.
If I risk it, I'll probably drop 10 places but 8th gives me nothing - so this was a logical risk to take.

I guess your explanation makes it make the most sense right with little or nothing to play for, I mean that was my reason for parting ways with Saka a couple of game weeks ago, but he has decided to keep dropping the bombshell on me week in week out, I'm consider going beserk too very soon with my WC, it's almost all or nothing O'clock  Huh Huh

Tough day at the office for City, and for most fantasy team managers  that went with a Halaad Captain, am pretty sure they should be feeling the pressure and with less shoots at goal or on goal this surely makes Chelsea comfortable as they run down the time.
Manchester City have not recorded any win against the big clubs in the Premier League this season, they have only drawn points with them. Haaland missed many opportunities, blanked in the game, and is of course a big blow to us who had him as captain. Manchester City were Lucky, They were meant to loose that game, Pochettino's wrong substitution spoilt the game.

Saka delivered this weekend, would have even had a hattrick had Arteta not taken him off.

not sure why, but went with triple captain on Nunez, started really well, but he was let go in second half
Saka and Watkins did something, but Alvarez and KDB are down to nothing, could be worse
waiting to see Pickford with another clean sheet, who would say that he has most clean sheets this season, and got January save of the month award on top

I think you are underestimating a bit how hectic second part of the season usually ends up being

Probably, I told you that this is my first time playing fantasy seriously.
I made a shitload of mistakes with early transfers, I'm surely misinterpreting how close or far from the top I currently am.

What I can see though is that both Salah and Watkins are as useful as Haaland's been, and Salah gets points from assists as well. I prefer him as my captain and I'll hope I can outscore Haaland with 2 good players most of you won't be able to afford.
It's my second and surely wouldn't be my last on the forum. When it comes to making proper use of my chips, that's where its challenging still. The policies and informations about it haven't stocked. Like, am looking at some of your teams and am seeing like 8-9 players featuring for a DG, WTF! Where those that live the rest of us in this tugging for point gains, you guys are just great.

I was about making a huge error in my Liverpool player selection for the DG, though my sights has been Nunez, I had D. Jota on the side for a possible preference. Imagine how relieved I was when he was carried off due to injury. Nunez got his goal, now its left to se what he would do when they play Luton.

Am regretting at the moment for having not gone with a Saka captain who technically had a better fixture for sure..

Come on City you have done  a comeback before...cant let Arsenal and Liverpool to celebrate !!!

I think you are underestimating a bit how hectic second part of the season usually ends up being with all the double and blank game weeks. That is the part of the season that those that plan ahead can make big jumps up the ladder. Fun stuff just begins, going without Haaland is a bit too extreme for my liking but so far doing wonders for you.

Did not check the teams of people around me but I hope some of you benched Arsenal players since they only have one fixture  Grin Saka, Gabriel and Raya more than doing the job for me.

cryptofrka and icopress, I see what you did there with that Salah selection. You both took very risky bets on Salah that is paying off right now and fueled by injuries of Jota and possibly, Nunez. Goodluck for the remainder of the GW, great start so far.

I have read so many things about the death of Haaland's grandmother that I changed my mind about using triple captain. On top of that because of Manchester City's playing a Champions League match during the week I thought that he would start as a substitute. However Guardiola has him in the starting 11 today. I hope my wrong decision doesn't damage me very much.

As we made a sidebet at the beginning of the season I'm checking icopress' squad every week. I was surprised when I saw Salah. However congratulations on his gaining a big advantage together with Jota's injury.

I share in your pains, My Jota + Nunez combo has been nuked so hard. I will wait for Nunez injury report but it'd be much worse if neither Nunez and Jota plays the next game against Luton town. Fingers crossed and hopeful to still get much more from this GW. Not going as planned so far.

Jota and Nunez looked very bright into the game, and they could have contributed for 2 to 3 goals combined if the unfortunate injuries hadn't happened, and neither would Salah have played more than some 10-15 minutes just freshen up, however, it is what it is!

I gambled on Salah and Lady Luck smiled on me this time. Jota is almost certainly out of the Luton game (it is probably a knee injury) but I hope that Nunez substitution was a precaution of some sort.

Salah did his part, now all eyes are on Haaland. I have a feeling he'll score 5 goals in the next 2 games.

Quite a blow to lose Diogo Jota too early into a double game week that I expected way too much returns from him, but he's at least pay some sort of dividends in the short period he played for with that assist that Darwin Nunez was able to convert perfectly.

Now Mo Salah is officially back  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes
GW started so good, Nunez and Jota returns, Salah on the bench as expected, clean sheet in progress. Then injuries happen and I loose both attacking guys and now even clean sheet wipeout. And of course the scorer is Toney who is certainly in my rivals' teams. Ah well, was bound to happen as always when I am expecting big things.
