Liverpool have been dominant in this second half, I might put a few bucks on them to win this despite being just 16 minutes left to for in the game, Arsenal are looking rather very unsettled and that's always a recipe for disaster if you're playing againt Liverpool.

-------------------

Lucky escape for Arsenal with that missed sitter from Trent Arnold, not something you'll see often, given how clinical he's been in front of goal lately.
Seems to me Arsenal got lucky today. Did not watch whole game but parts i have seen, Liverpool was a much better side. Can't believe how they did not score when they were running with 5-6 players on Rice & Raya Smiley

Freak injury for Tsimikas as well, you don't see player injured that often after colliding with his own manager.

Just played my free hit for GW19, wholesale changes to keep underperformers away while I do the weekly cleanout to avoid penalty (Mbeumo finally off my roster which needed to happen anyway).

Salah still skipped, but I'm slowly reducing the pain of expensive mids and defs to make way for post Boxing Day Wink

Bowen, what a revelation huh?

Anyone want to open a side bet?
Today is the third game, if he doesn't get sacked on monday  or before boxing day you're sending $50 BTC to my Wallet right?

@Igebotz do I remember correctly I already have this precise sidebet with you? I guess I'll have to open my wallet. No amount of losing can dislodge him it seems (I like that personally, just thought United would revert to new-manager mode).

I'm very happy that Solanke is in my fantasy squad. Transferring him on GW13 not only maintained my budget but also made me win extra points. I made Watkins the captain. However I couldn't get the contribution I wanted from him unfortunately. Besides when I saw the number of points the players on my bench collected I got a little regretful. I wish I had Areola in my squad.

I'll pass the open bet Igebotz, because as soon as Ratcliffe get some real control over that club, he's going to bin Ten Hag at the earliest opportunity.

Sacking him will not fix their problems, but only send them one step backward; remember how he turned the poor manutd team and led them to the CL and the League Cup in his first season? Give him two more seasons with a completely fit team, and he will bring this shithole to glory. I've always admired ETH tactical abilities
Sacking him just might not have much effect than to get them a step backward but. That could as well be some place for a start. A step to recount on and look for a forward in the new management.
Still, I must say ETH came in strong with a more of a disciplinary approach to setting the his boys on the path to good performance with Rashford being a key to his squad. Now, Rashford equals nothing and it doesn’t seem like his got any tactics in his play book. Manchester United don’t play like a team, they are just about trier and errors as it is. No particular first eleven, I mean, what can anyone make of that?
Records aren’t going to keep him eventually, EPL just happened to him!

Solanke owners: we're eating good.
You can be damned sure I’m beating myself for not paying any attention to my team in the on going GW. I apparently would have had to make some good chances that I knew could have helped and all I can do now is just look my team without any objectivism about it. In fact, my bench seems to be having more points than my on pitch players and Solanke with a hat trick today while on my bench as a 2nd Sub, that’s just awful.

Open bet: he stays till the end of the season $100.

You wanna bet that he stays or that he's sacked?

Not having Solanke is gonna bite me in the ass this week. He's gonna be on 20 points, whereas my headless chicken is benched for the game vs Arsenal.
Thank God I replaced him for next GW, I'll never pick him again.

I bit my tongue from finding this very funny and trying so hard not to laugh out loud  Grin

Damn the FPL once again for depriving me of Solanke points from last game week, and a bit dumb of myself to not have even considered Solanke as potential captain candidate.

Your Salah choice is already paying dividends right ?

I was considering Watkins for captain as well, decided to go with Salah considering that I expect a high-scoring game tonight.
Raya's benched, so is Tsimikas, White's the only one I couldn't remove.

Villa was really was done hard by VAR yesterday though.

It seems Gordon will be cleared to start, I hope he does because in this GW I'm thin with substitutions. From next one onwards, my team looks great.

I really would have said I also have Watkins as my captain for the gameweek too, because I kept tweaking between him and Callum Wilson, but I somehow ended up settling for Wilson, it's not as though that is paying off right now either, it even spells double trouble because that's two of my strikers going blank for the week.

I bet $50 that Ten Hag is going to be sacked within the next three gameweeks.

Anyone want to open a side bet?

Yeah, before Boxing day.

I'm pretty sure he's not risking a sack regardless of how the Aston Villa match goes, so he might actually be safe.

Back to the topic; Watkins Captaincy our week is over.

Watkins captaincy should've rewarded us with a goal and an assist but VAR didn't allow either. I expected more from Villa and Watkins but Sheffield put up a very strong defensive performance.
I might just have a rough week after all, don’t know how I managed to miss the Crystal Palace vs Brighton Hove Albion of yesterday. Just like that, I missed the chance of making any good changes to my team, having Trippier, Taylor and Solanke on my bench while Kabore is left on the pitch, along with Branthwaite in a GW I’m expecting Son to score with either a brace or at least get a goal and 2 assist. He ought yo have got my captaincy instead of M. Salah for the game week as Liverpool wouldn’t be finding any easy game with Arsenal.

Watkins for a captain, well, it’s wasn’t an out of place option for a home side game and against a team like Sheffield but, I’m sure it’s a regrettable option right now.

Shouldn't Aston Villla have had at least one penalty kick in the first 45 minutes of this game ? I really don't understand what VAR does in the EPL or when it gets to suggest that the referee should take a look at the monitor on the sideline ? I mean the referee clearly would given one of those calls if was asked or allowed to see the replay, but VAR gets to decide what should and shouldn't be looked at again for a second opinion ??!

Even if any other situations didn't warrant a penalty, I'm of the opinion that the penalty should've been given for that push of Watkins by the Sheffield defense in the first half. All calls to VAR checks often returned with "no further actions" even in the second half. I'm not a Villa fan but it seemed unfair from my POV.

Really hard done by VAR so far. They scored in second half and then VAR called ref to check contact on GK and of course that one got disallowed. I am not saying there wasn't contact but it is really though to judge contact from still picture.

While I was writing this there was another penalty check for Villa and again ref wasn't called Smiley I guess it is not profitable enough to have Villa on top of PL. Better make it one of the big clubs.

Another reason why Everton received a ten-point deduction whereas City and other major teams remain safe as eggs is because they generate more money to the league. The FA will not allow anything that will ruin the image of the league and World champions.

It's was a really stupid decision to have disalllowed that goal, play had continued, of course I agree there was grabbing of the goalkeeper's arm by a Villa player, but a Sheffield United is clearly pulling the same Aston Villa player, it was just a case of 3 players being entangled, I understand that the goalkeeper in that case should have been awarded a foul, but play had continued and Sheffield United were breaking away on a counterattack and advanatge if not for the clean interception by Watkins, so that Sheffield Uniited having the ball for while after that supposed foul should literally have been ruled as ball advantage because, If Watkins hadn't intercepted that break away pass and it leads to Sheffield United goal, the goal would have stood right ?

I forgot to change my captain as I forgot there was a match in the Premier League on Thursday. I was expecting much more contribution from Sterling last week however Mauricio Pochettino subbed him off from the match early. I think the cost of forgetting about changing the captain will be heavy for me.

PS. Solanke points have been officially voided, and now that donkey Isak replaces him with a 0 pointer from the bench  Angry

A crazy harsh decision if those managers who use chips on him aren't getting those back, the FPL has some weird unacceptable rules.

I don't think it voids chips:

My free hit benched Neto, Senesi, and Solanke and put Dubravka, Walker and Colwill on the XI (it skipped Isak for some reason who was 1st sub).

My cup opponent who had Solanke captained had the captaincy transferred to Palmer who he vice-captained (!).

I still defeated him by a single point  Grin
