Anyone else thinking if it's a good idea to bench Trippier for the next match against Chelsea?

I do not think he will get a return this week.

Gavi, at the age of 19, has a greater international legacy and is more patriotic to his country than Halaand; it's a greater honour to get fucked up playing for your motherland than it is to play for your club side. Gavi will be remembered for giving his all for the Spain jersey.

Mikel OBi is Nigeria's most decorated player today after sacrificing his Chelsea career for the country.

No international game is unimportant in Africa; every player wants to play.

There is an absolute difference between being patriotic enough to represent your country on every level, even in Africa there matches considered to less important and those are the best time to give some other players playing time as well, playing for your country while not being fully fit or with a minor injury isn’t what I’d refer to as patriotism, rather is just negligence.

————————-

I believe Jarred Bowen would also be available for the weekend too, it’s just some publicity facade and more over, the FPL injury chat can’t be solely relied upon too, except for the red ones and long term injuries.

. Nigeria may fail to qualify for the next World Cup for the second time in a row. Our strikers are the best in Africa, but our midfield and defence are abysmal.
Sometimes I wonder why this is happening, I mean Nigeria houses an impressive number of strikers and these strikers are all doing well which we know a team doesn't just need the strike force as the defense and midfield are most vital as the strike.
I don't know but looking on home base midfielder in the Nigerian premier league can be of some kind of solution as these players are desperately hungry to showcase their talent but we obviously know how the team selection is done.

We have this mentality of fielding only players who play outside of the country, and these rich players offer their match bonuses to managers in order to be selected. In Africa, this is a common practise.

FIFA will pay Barcelona £20,000 per day until Gavi recovers from injury next year. That's a lot of cash.

Jarrod Bowen is another player of concern having withdrawn for the England squad due to injury, the same goes for Mitoma (I'm already looking to get him out for a long term or permanently, perhaps), and Rasmus Hojlund too.

Nice to see him as a doubt, I just traded him in this week Grin
Looks like you are not the only one who had traded him in prior to that injury news. I am going to totally avoiding transferring players in until each International Break passes. It sucks. I am not sure why it's even called an International Break any more  Grin

I am blaming FIFA, they are the main problem. And to make it worse they are making both EURO and WC even bigger and less appealing. It is all about the money and we will enter into place when football will start loosing its audience.

Few years ago I was still watching every CL game, every big derby in Spain or Italy, every game on every EURO or WC. Now there is so much football that I am basically watching just Premier League, and some big matches in CL. Other leagues are ignored and it never crosses my mind to watch some stupid national team game, unless it is again a duel between top teams, Croatia or I have a shitload of money on it.

If these players are not protected in the same way that referees are, we may have to revisit the Super League discussion because they provided a solution to what we currently have. Reduced match time and more

Africa has crazy qualifiers. I just read an article today on how difficult it is to qualify.
Long distance travel on bumpy roads, often without airplanes, constant hostile environments away from home and no margin for error. I will follow it more this time around - now more teams have a chance, right?

Lol Some fields are intentionally left in poor condition for home advantage, but no country I know uses the road owing to border insecurity. More than 22 ACL injuries have occurred this season; there is no way you can blame the coaches and not FIFA for arranging these fixtures and increasing game minutes.

Yep, it's FIFA's fault for sure. More and more managers are being vocal about it - but money machine won't care.

It is logical that some players are calculating. Haaland is well aware that his trophies and accomplishments will come from club football. His maximum with Norway is to maybe pass a group at some competition. Gavi on the other hand know that some silverware could well come from national team. Players should be always available I agree but national team selectors should also be aware how many minutes their players have in them and then rest them up in unimportant matches. If it is late stages of World Cup of course you play them but if it is a friendly or qualifier game against some week opponent, give a rest to tired ones. Spain could have won that last game with their 4th or 5th choice player on every position.

They? Or he did not want to risk himself - Halaand always prefer club football to country games cause nobody give a fuck about him on the international level.

In some cases it's perfectly logical. Look at what happened to Gavi yesterday - ACL tear in a fully irrelevant game vs Georgia.
Odegaard did not play as well for Norway - in some countries the fans even understand these choices. In Croatia everybody would be fuming - all our players constantly play for the national team and the pressure to perform is high, whereas Norway has no such atmosphere/expectation in the national team.

If I was a manager at the club, I'd do all in my power to keep important players from playing in unimportant qualifiers - and 80% of these are really unimportant.

I believe he does care about international football as well, but in this case the national team literally have nothing to play for while he also need to very cautious with minor injury/knocks he's had recent, It's just a matter of few day before we know what really is wrong him and whether or not he'll be available to play against Liverpool, that's surely a fixture he wouldn't want to miss, I'm very sure but you sure already know by now that Guardiola would never risk playing Haaland if he is not 100% cleared to play by the team doctors.

This is hardly news; he spends months playing for Manchester City and pretending to be injured whenever he is on international duty in order to have a solo break before returning to club football. He is dragging his country through the dirt in order to prioritise a large salary cheque.

Faked an injury during the last three international breaks, missing the majority of Norway's qualification matches. Ghosted in all of Norway's major games.

Southgate confirms Bowen injury is not a serious one, so hopefully he would return after a week rest.

Halaand is completely fit; he just doesn't want to risk it for his national team because there is nothing to play for. Man Fakes an injury every time he plays for the national team in order to be fit for club matches.
There's news that he will be fit for the game and that the injury was only minor. He did not play for Norway in their game against Scotland because they did not want to risk him since they already knew that they were not going to make qualification for the Euro 2024.

Even Rodri who some people thought was injured because he did not play for Spain against Cyprus is fit today and on National duty for Spain against Georgia.

I read one report just now and there is no exact news but things that Norway coach said sound promising. He said something in line that it isn't serious and that if that was important game he would maybe be able to play it to the end. Seems like minor ankle sprain, should be back for Liverpool but if he is not than definitely soon after that.

He had one unfortunate sentence which is probably translated wrong and said something like "it isn't career threatening" but those words, even when used in such context imply it was much more serious stuff than it actually was.

Still plenty of time to get news before the match, and that match is early kick off so we will also have leaked line ups. Just be patient and wait.

I couldn’t agree more with you on the case of big and club side important players like that of Haaland not getting involved with national team games when there is nothing or very little at stake, but Haaland might be very due for an injury and it’s evident with the way Guardiola have been managing his minutes very well and making sure he doesn’t play when not necessary but for a player with an injury history, fatigue and knocks could be a factor of accumulated playing regardless of the how long they sit out of matches.
It seems this wasn’t a far fetched speculation as current reports has it that, E. Haaland has got an ankle injury from an in-house training. It’s exaggerated to be one that could be career threatening or season long. I checked what stats the FPL has placed on him and his got 75% chance of playing. This left me with mixed feelings in what could be the actual case here.

Though I don’t have him on my team as I transferred him out over the last 2 GWs, I had thoughts of a possible return but, that’s not until his injury news is clear but then, what’s the case with him.
Anyone with some legit update on E. Haaland’e injury status?

Regarding the injuries, I never believe in the stories (like in Haaland's case). He's got nothing to play for for Norway and will rather rest and recoup.
Most of the clubs have the same strategy, especially towards players from other continents. I expect Haaland to play the full 90 against Liverpool.
