Liverpool made a start to the season above expectations. However I don't think that they are that good when it comes to their game. They were nearly not on the pitch in the second half of the Chelsea match. And even though the win they got against Newcastle was magnificent I don't think they deserved that win. However I want to add Salah to my squad very much as he managed to make score contribution in some way even in the matches Liverpool played badly. However it isn't possible for me to do this now due to his price.

For me, Liverpool is the team that will score the most goals this season. That is why I captained Salah and why I went with Diaz as well.
They went all-in on the offensive, with 2 of their 3 starting midfielders being players who did not have many defensive duties in their former teams. In offensive part of the game TAA becomes a deep-lying playmaker, which will give more freedom to Szoboszlai and MacAllister.

I agree Liverpool looked ridiculous against Chelsea when Chelsea took the ball, but check for example how we pressed in our last game against Villa.
It takes some time for new players to gel together and I do agree Liverpool will probably have some stupid defeats along the way - but they have the ability to run at you 100+ minutes, with 2 quality offensive players on the bench just waiting to be given the chance to play.

Math for Salah is actually really simple, you just have to answer yourself one simple question. Will you captain him instead of Haaland in some games? If your answer is no, stay away, his price is so high because of his consistency and safe minutes in top club plus his captain appeal.

I think he is good play after GW9 when Liverpool starts their great fixture run.
There are at least 10 games where Salah has the captaincy advantage over Haaland (and yes.. I only chose him because I would alternate captaincy).

By the way, he is currently the only player who has had a scoring touch in all 4 game weeks.

Salah and Haaland? That's what I initially put together and then changed it God knows why.
It was the best way to go, too many good 6,5 midfielders were on offer and you could still assemble a good team with both Salah and Haaland.

The only problem I had with this setup is that you basically have a 12,5 player (Salah) who you won't captain that often.
I don’t know if I have to rethink my decision but, I’ve hit the idea of M. Salah being over priced to leave him permanently on my team (except in the case of an injury) but yeah. I don’t find him to be making the points for his price worth. He might be a midfielder but then, his the goal scorer for Liverpool and ought to be coming up with the goals and in turn, points too.

I have them both.  Grin

But you're right... I also think Salah will be on a roll this season.
His not manifesting like he would.
His last goal for Liverpool seemed more like a consolation goal for his time on the pitch. Maybe I have too much expectation on him but his prices enough to deliver like E. Halaand is. Halaand said, his back and we can expect him to be back at goal scoring. Could it be the same for Salah…

We have first double game week of the season announced - it will be GW 7. Don't get your hopes up, the only match rescheduled to that week is Luton - Burnley, not exactly two teams many of us will target. That being said Luton has very nice fixtures and maybe one or two cheap bench players for people wild-carding now could be brought to first team then.

Then we have confirmed blank for City and Brentford in GW 18. That one will have much more impact on our squads, having wildcard at that point will be helpful for sure and that also guarantees a double game week for City down the line. Triple captain Haaland here we come.

It's all about timing. I had Darwin for the first 2 weeks, rage transferred him out after GW2 when he was subbed for 4 minutes and then the next game he scores a clutch brace. And then nearly every other midfielder I got out with my wildcard got an assist. Now we have players like Watkins, Nketiah, Wissa and even March who are hung dry. And Chilwell has blanked since GW2 as in, no goals or assists. Again, timing is key.

I played the timing game last season to disastrous effect. I'm being much more patient now. Darwin will pay off, right? Right???

@logfiles why Haaland no captain? A waste!
I actually thought he's going to blank more often because of the Kevin De Bruyne injury, but it looks like he is starting to do well with the Like of Foden. Not having him in my squad earlier on paid off only once (game week 2)  Grin

Pointless to have him and not captain, like Trofo said, he's the only sure way to compete for top places!

But you're right... I also think Salah will be on a roll this season.
Also - a big part of my decision to go without Haaland is the freebets for the round winner. Whenever Salah outscores Haaland, I'll be a big step ahead of you guys in that game round.

Same reason I didn't Haaland up! I'm poor at FPL but I'm gunning for an outlier week where my picks smash everyone. Nunez-Salah combo? Salah's entering my squad at some point, I'm still moving budgets around a restructure. Probably sacrificing Mac Allister (easy choice).

Some players in my team have been disappointing for more than two weeks.

Son was in my squad at the beginning of the season. However I decided to sell him because of his not being able to make a contribution to the score in any way. I hardly contained myself about not banging my head against the walls after he made a hat-trick last week. Therefore I advise you to give him some more time if you trust a player. Even though it doesn't have to be like the thing I had with Son don't forget that there is a valid reason in your mind while you are adding a player to your squad.

22nd on the leaderboard and I am not proud of it. I need to do better next GW.
There is still room for improvement. It's currently still possible for you to Jump from 22 to top 10 in just a single good game week.
This is what I am hoping, that in one GW, my team players perform at the optimum for their clubs.

I still have to transfer out some players from my team, and bring in some new players.

Nah, I won't go for him. I expect a really good season from Salah, if he comes near Haaland in points scored, I think I might stand a chance for a decent result.

KDB is out, Alvarez has started really good, maybe Haaland drops in form a bit, eh? You never know..

Problem is having no Haaland sets you back so much each time he does well. He is in almost all the teams and he is permanently captained as well. That brings his effective ownership to almost 200%. Every other player you don't have at least does not have captain chip on him.

Haaland ruins the game and makes it less fun, but I don't se anyway we can go without him and compete for top places.

Well, really depends on what Haaland will do. I agree that the safe choice was to have him - I dropped like 30 places in 1 round in which he did great.

Still - the idea of playing is to have some fun as well - and I just feel leaving him out gives you more options to tinker with your team.
I'm more angry that I still have Rashfort than that I don't have Haaland Grin

Halaand is the wrong guy to risk with, and having Halaand in your team does not prevent you from having fun, which I did twice this season with amazing results. After captaining him in GW1, I decided to have some fun with GW 2 and 3 and captain Watkins instead, and the results were fantastic; I only returned the leadership on Halaand in GW4 and he dropped me a 40 pointer. So while having fun is important, you must be aware of fixtures difficulties in order to succeed.

Halaand must be on your squad as long as he is physically fit to play; if you want to have fun, you can do it with other positions and the captaincy role.  If you don't own him now, you'll have to downgrade your midfield or defence to do so later. Lol.

This matters if you take sepatrate tours, but on average, owning Haaland is too big a plus to look for other options. I am sure that if you constantly guess who will be good in a separate round and choose exactly him, then you can score more points for Haaland's position, but the probability of such a successful (and constant) guessing is very small.

I imagined the guts it took @NotATether to call a day with his Triple captain chip this early into the FPL on Haaland who had just come from not so confident game week, and damn it, the Triple captain chip already paid its dividends, he won the game week with it and, I'd say it has been used perfectly to my satisfaction if that was me, but that was risky is what everyone of the so called FPL experts would say, while everyone preparing on a potential double game week even from Haaland might end up not getting anywhere near those 60 points, after the 24-35 long weeks of planning and not pulling the trigger on the chip yet.
