Lol. I woke up this morning thinking that everything would be fine (considering I wasn't Haaland's captain).

But I didn't expect my captain to score 20 more points than Haaland (surpassing Haaland's hattrick). 17  Grin

Moreover, I just saw that the Brazilian league team I bet a decent amount on won (scoring a goal in the 94th and 96th minutes). LOL.

It seems like the perfect way to end the weekend.

I especially want to congratulate buwaytress! At this very second you are simply having a heroic peak.

Impressive game from Salah to say the least, If only TAA first goal had stood that would have been 3 assists and 1 goal for Salah, while TAA would have also had an attacking return, only then could I have said I was able to make up (to some extent) for not having Haaland, but at least the captaincy battle wasn’t a lost one… Isak to Jackson ended up being a waste of transfer and 2 points lost 🤥

Well, well, well. If things go my way, captaining Salah instead of Haaland could make me look like I actually know what I'm doing. Hope they keep Casemiro on, he looks haunted in his eyes.

I just felt teams like Arsenal and Liverpool who seemingly have better fixtures and more players to target, for every goal Liverpool scores without Salah’s involvement you could expect a Jota/Diaz involvement and the same thing goes for Arsenal with Saka, where Havertz could come to the rescue but for City and Guardiola’s style Haaland is the only feasible attacking player with guaranteed minutes. If City’s first game of the season were to be against another team aside Chelsea, I sure wouldn’t have started without Haaland.

And that was true the past couple of seasons actually with Salah -- he performs well on a cost-to-point ratio, but the discrepancy in points earned from FPL scoring method still means if you Captain Haaland, he's going to outscore any other actually more valuable (cost-to-point) player over the course of a season. It's simply the way he's built and the way City build around him.

P.S. I switched captain to Salah because I thought West Ham would not be idiots and at least try to mark Haaland. They left him free, they are idiots.

P.P.S. I'm probably also whining because I'm old and old people whine a lot.

It's a big shame, FPL is broken, but if we want to play, we play by those broken rules.
I think FPL rules are as good as possible. Also this season maybe has the best pricing in last few. Finally we have that feeling of you can't have them all that is crucial to the game.

Haaland, Salah, Palmer, Saka, Son - you can't have more than 3 for sure and others will hurt you. You just have to pick those that frighten you most when you don't have them in the team. Haaland scores goals for fun but they get him only 4 points, he also doesn't get assists ever. All the other guys on that list get 5 points for a goal and a lot of assist. Haaland on 15M is perfect and far from broken. He is doing more damage to our heads than actual FPL damage. But that is also important factor and I don't want to watch City without him in my squad.

Just think about last season when Palmer was 5M and Saka 8M. That is broken, but somehow nobody complained since it was easy to have them in our squads.

Oh I've been wanting a weighted scoring for FPL for a long time -- I always, always, prefer weighted scoring systems that rewards value as cost-per-point, and rewards outlier picks, and does comparative scoring with overall contributions on team vs team.

The system looks geared for it. It calculates opponent difficulty, and it already calculates player interventions and involvements, so why not make that part of a weighted score? As in, scoring, clean sheets, dribbles, etc. against a tougher opponent should be worth more. Books use the same systems, but apply odds as a reflection of difficulty and risk-reward, only the money pouring in and the juice skews the odds so we don't see a clean picture. I always envisioned a pure Fantasy weighted system to be where true risk-reward is pictured.

It's been my complaint of 2 decades playing football whether Winning Eleven or Football Manager, you match up with a guy and it's a team full of superstars you're just facing variations of the same thing it got so boring. But don't blame the players, blame the game, it only rewards that kind of pattern and it discourages risk-taking and completely ignores real-world economic factors.

But you're probably right in that the pricing finally looks like it means something now. I couldn't really compare properly as I havent' always been paying attention but it does feel like my squad should have been able to keep my beloved Saka, but couldn't. I want to say it's Haaland's fault though Wink

Well, I have pulled the trigger on the Wildcard chip. Too many transfers needed to replace Nkunku, Hall, BBD, backup for Quansah and it requires me to sell Solanke to free up funds.

Right now I'm being carried by Haaland (C), Saka, and Palmer, but that isn't going to get me any closer to the top.

At least there's an international break now.

All Eze on me, finally he gets to kickoff his season's potential haul with quite a beautiful goal,
Jackson and Palmer, who should have had decent points from this game since they had full minutes and with the assist and goal, have both picked up a yellow card. I have Eze, and luckily he scores.

I should be smiling right now, but that's Burn's own goal is a hiccup.

Focus now on Liverpool assets and Salah, who has scored the most goals against Manchester United, I am sure he will be on the scoresheet again today.

I’ve made such a terrible mistake with my team selection in this early halve of the season. I mean, how did i not see this to be a terrible choice from the on set, not having either M. Salah or Haaland on my team and these guys are just bagging points that worths the bill on them. Watkins has just been flopping this season, not coming up with any wonders and so has Isak. Need to pull off an early wildcard magic before all goes to shit. Starting from the bottom!

I thought the FPL is tough to play without having Haaland, but here is someone playing with neither Haaland nor Salah, wow!

-----------

All Eze on me, finally he gets to kickoff his season's potential haul with quite a beautiful goal, I was so look for alternatives already btw, and the price drop made rethink since there isn't anyone with spectacular fixture within his price bracket that interest me.

15M is a lot but Norwegian robot is worth it.
He doesn't need so many touches on the ball before he can score a goal and that is what makes him very unique as a striker in this Manchester City side and a must-have for anyone with plans to do well in the FPL. Luckily for me, I left the captain armband on him for this GW, I wasn't expecting a hattrick again today, but it is what it is.

Two consecutive hattrick for Halaand and my TC chip is still intact, I'm so mad at myself right now. GW9 we go then......
Someone in the pool used the TC chip this week; it was a big risk, but it paid off.

Fuck man, this man is a complete non sense. i dont have him and without him is almost impossible if he still in this path. Is carrying everybodys fantasys teams, two round in a row.

Haaland is single handedly rendering every team without him clueless, it’s him versus the entire team of those who don’t have him (like myself), 6 goals in two games, how is anyone suppose to keep up without him ?

Perhaps it’s time to press the panic button and get him in at all cost.

Look guys. Learn from my past 2 seasons. I refused to have Haaland, and got nowhere. Now I have him in my squad. I still want him to do badly, so this horror spectacle of must-have Haaland can end.

I even took him off captaincy today, thinking Salah is hungry and energetic, but even regular Haaland is simply a robot as Trofo says, and must be in your squad at all costs. I must still hope Salah will go crazy tomorrow and redeem the captaincy.

It's a big shame, FPL is broken, but if we want to play, we play by those broken rules.

Yeah, Trofo was actually right about the thought process that brought about not going with Haaland to start, no because I expected him to not do well, but we all would agree that this is beyond normalcy to begin with. I chose to not start with Haaland but plan on having him the rest of the way from when I plan to WC’d and why is because other than Ipswich, Man City’s fixture on paper shouldn’t have had Haaland on 7 goals in 3 games, I just felt teams like Arsenal and Liverpool who seemingly have better fixtures and more players to target, for every goal Liverpool scores without Salah’s involvement you could expect a Jota/Diaz involvement and the same thing goes for Arsenal with Saka, where Havertz could come to the rescue but for City and Guardiola’s style Haaland is the only feasible attacking player with guaranteed minutes. I am also hoping Rogers can cover a bit for Watkins. And I miscalculated here since I left Wood on the bench just to play Rogers. You get some right and others backfire spectacularly. Just a how FPL works. Tomorrow I expect Eze to destroy Chelsea and Madueke to stay on the bench. Just in spite of all his new owners  Grin

There's always one idiot everyweek - Pedro scored an important goal and got booked for a silly reaction in the 90+, went from a potential 10 Pointer to 8  Grin well, I'm not mad but the yellow card was very silly.

As I said above he is 15M for a reason. It is not like you expected him to be poor when you didn't pick him. I am guessing you expected that extra money invested in other players to cover his points. If there isn't captaincy factor I think they would cover him with no problems. But we have captaincy and that is why it is worth paying extra for Salah and Haaland.

I had same logic for Salah. I don't have him, but I went with theory that Arnold + Jota + Saka will manage to outscore something like Salah + quansah + some 7M mid. And I went with Haaland as premium since there isn't City player that can cover him while I think Jota will score about 70% of Salah points while he has first team place and Arnold should add that remaining 30% over Quansah. Then it leaves pure profit for whatever Saka does against 7M mid.

I am also hoping Rogers can cover a bit for Watkins. And I miscalculated here since I left Wood on the bench just to play Rogers. You get some right and others backfire spectacularly. freaking Haaland is going to ruin every fun that comes with the FPL

It's not even halftime yet and he has 2 goals to his name, and another extra 3 points that'd likely accompany that, if anyone that failed to use their triple captain chip last week did for this week, they sure would be licking their lips already, fck!!!
Even more unlucky is that Haaland is not in my squad. Angry

Which striker can score every game, and twice only Haaland is a human robot who can score a lot of goals, no other striker can match him. Tongue

I offloaded Nkunku last week same as Trofo, put Semenyo in his place, decided I'm going to try and now keep a transfer a week, and 1 to 2 m in the bank. I really wanted Saka but didn't know who to offload without the penalties. Suppose it was all right to wait in the end. Joao Pedro is a revelation, just wish he didn't get the yellow, and pulled off the win, heh heh.

Wood is also really doing well, to me.

Kept Isak for a while though, if I do swap him out it'll be to pack my midfield. Slowly, slowly, getting there.

P.S. Sad that it finally took me caving in to Haaland to stay competitive. FPL is broken Tongue
Wood is doing good for me as well. Too bad I left him on my bench to let ESR and Rogers a bit of playing time. Expensive call. But at least I gave the captain band to Haaland. Got 3 goals, 3 bonus points and he could have had even more. 15M is a lot but Norwegian robot is worth it.

Did you guys see that graphic about players with most hat tricks? He is already way up top and he took like 20% of the games others have to accomplish that.

As I was expecting the Arsenal - Brighton match to end up with many goals, I chose Saka for the captain role in my team this week. However because of the foolish red card Rice got, Arsenal were only able to get a draw with a 1-1 score at their home stadium. When it comes to Haaland, he scored 2 goals against West Ham in the first 30 minutes of the match already. I was really unlucky with my choice as a result.  Sad

Many yellow and even a res card in this first day of this game week.

Maybe Arteta can bring him back like he has done to Havertz, but I still will not bank on that, It is difficult to change a stingy player.
Kai Havertz first season with Chelsea is still better than all version of Arsenal Kai Havertz, I'm curious what you guys think he has improved on since leaving Chelsea...  ( Celebrating against his former clubs ?? Bayer and Chelsea)
I did not take note of him in his first season in Chelsea, but I know that he was shit when Chelsea offloaded him to us, and Arteta turned things around with him. He scored again today.

I offloaded Nkunku last week same as Trofo, put Semenyo in his place,
Semenyo ended up being a good choice, he scored the first goal for Bournemouth that led to their 2-3 comeback win against Everton, who had a two goal advantage. If he had not gotten a yellow card early in the game, he should have had more points.  I brought in Mbeumo for Nkunku, and he scored two goals, but just like Semenyo, he picked up an early yellow card.

Vardy was disappointing again; he could not even get the ball. To make things worse, he picked up a yellow card too.

Flekken was heading to pick up more points than he ended up with, but the late South Hampton goal ruined it all.

I was expecting a goal from Smith Rowe against Ipswich, it didn't happen.
