I received some production BFL chips today. Mine came in a tray rather than in tape form like af_newbie's, for some reason.
I guess I'll be ordering some boards up here soon.

One of the group buy owner has received chips on hand already. Not sure if anyone from there wanna send the chips over to lucko for assembly...

Will "Cointamination" appear in the miner software as one device? Or can it be configured as multiple devices?
If you can "split" BFL device then yes but I don't think you can. I think you can't do that with any device... And why would you? Even if you do so you still have them in same miner and on same pool... Will "Cointamination" appear in the miner software as one device? Or can it be configured as multiple devices?

No. Following the cost of components and assembly and price of development...So I should purchase the board to not be able to get back my ROI?

No. Following the cost of components and assembly and price of development...So I should purchase the board to not be able to get back my ROI?

Still same as in yesterday email update... But I thought I got a good news today. Got mail from BFL that my order was shipped... But it was just my Jala... I will let you know the moment anything changes...
The "Jody Blog" indicates that they are catching up on device deliveries.
On the BFL home page earlier, I notice they have dropped the little single from the sales list.
Edit:- so when the back orders are complete, it's gone.
I'm gonna own a piece of history!

The alternative is to buy a 60Gh single from BFL for twice the price and wait another 3 months for it to be delivered.
Edit:- Its now 50Gh. If you need 8chip device from BFL then hard luck they have dropped it from the range.
It is only firmware 1.2.9 that has an option to limit it to 50GH. So you have to flesh it and void warranty... It also probably has a future of cooling power supply that is overloaded... Edit:- Its now 50Gh. If you need 8chip device from BFL then hard luck they have dropped it from the range.

I think what Lucko is trying to say is that the costs are the costs. This is a small volume product and thus the production costs are high. They are not doing this as a commercial venture and should also be compensated for the time and effort they have put into this. Small volume electronic assembly is very expensive. If anything, the chips are the overpriced piece that is keeping from ROI and that is beyond Lucko and team's control.
Right on the money... We used more then 10.000$ for this. We end up buying samples since there were no donations and that is now seen on the price. And creating 6 to 10 boards at the time is a sample size and it cost accordingly... But waiting for 1000 chips is also not an option... And we did target bigger number if chips per board to get costs down... Assembly and board cost are about the same if it is 1 or 16 chip board. The only difference are power parts. We could use lower price but they are less efficient... Other way would be to sell uncomplicated board like others that say you need to buy cooling yourself... But at the end you end up with same or higher price with full board. Less then full there are some difference yes...I think what Lucko is trying to say is that the costs are the costs.
