You should put a getting started section on the OP, pointing at that manual page on the site.

People are used to finding such info in the OP rather than search the website by default.

DO'H! Thank you. Done.
Check the front page. It's in big throbbing juicy bold text.

Thank you for your service!

Good hash rate for a regular computer.

To check balance, here's how: search
To see your balance, select simplewallet
on this page,
https://bipcoin.org/?page_id=93
and check your balance.

Always check that page, the answer is usually there.

Have you read it?

I did not read the page, I looked at the pictures though. And in the wallet, I found the "balance" command by using the "help" command and reading the list of commands.

Please read that page. Keep in mind: so far I'm LOSING money at this, and I also have a family and I also work about 60 hours a week at my job. I can only spend so much time, so please read the manual before asking any more questions. That page is basically the manual.

Thank you,

MWD

I don't think I asked a question. You are confusing me here.

You asked if you'd "gotten lucky", i.e. mined a block. I told you how to check. If you'd read the freakin' manual (that page I linked, the "Download and How To" page on our site), you wouldn't have asked me.

I'm not going to answer any more questions that are already answered on that page.

Okay, I am using 3 threads now, CPU usage fluctuates between 25 and 30%, show_hr shows about 115 (h/s?)
Will keep you updated whether it crashes or not.

Very cool.

Speaking of cool, make sure you put a fan on the computers while mining so they don't burn out. With laptops, prop them up with blocks so air gets under and over. With desktops I put an extra fan inside. Pix of both about 3/4 way down this page:
https://bipcoin.org/?page_id=93

Speaking of cool, my CPU is watercooled. It hasn't passed 45C yet (3 threads)
I am now running it on 6 threads, the hashrate is going up (~200), CPU load is 65 - 70% now.

What does this mean though? Is it not working?

Fallout from the mining pool fiasco. lol. Should stop happening in a day or two.

yeah I got it, I'm just not sure how the wallet fixed itself, coz I think I found blocks while on the other chain.

The blocks you found that work were before the split each day, i.e. before he slowly started creeping ahead of us in block number.

OK, gotta run. Later! Happy mining!

I'll help people if I'm here and know the answer but its my first cryptonote coin.

You're on the right blockchain, because I got your transaction, and I am also on the right one.

but what block height are you showing? I'm at 4666 lol.

ye same

GOOD!

I'm actually not sure the wrong chain still exists since that guy shut his pool down. But we'll probably still get errors for a couple days as people try to spend the bad coin mined on his end after the split.

I sent you .05, you get it?

edit: something is happening when you copy paste from terminal to here, see the kjexc5 (there is a space) then 3ptSTV, happened when you pasted too.

MWD64 show me the command how to send you 0.1coin to see if I can use this wallet. Put your address and everything

pwpwpw, Did you send it yet? I can check if you did, but I need to go off line for at least an hour after that.

yea half hour ago, even posted it

Money successfully sent, transaction 0f94c7bfd8f9ceba372c790df689903796e466d1cf1357881dc02e49a12030d3

Got it!
I've been busy as hell, as you can imagine,...doing everything to launch a coin is a full time job, plus I also have a full time job.
 sorry didn't see your reply.

what's an address for me to send it back? PM to me if you don't want to share here. But you can always make a public wallet address and a private one. Not that people can see your BipCoin address on the blockchain (it makes a temp address for each transaction, and also intentionally mis-reports the amount by a little bit, lol), but the more anon the more anon, ya feel me?

Also, next person who asks on here, will you do this with them? pass on the knowledge please? (i.e. tech support as distributed as our coin.)

That sounds pretty goofy, waiting for it to crash. I don't really like it crashing.

Thats how you check the max hashrate, I'm using start_mining 3 and that use 75% cpu, 4 uses 100% but I know you can go higher for other cpu miners maybe this one too, but I'm using the PC so 75% is fine for me.

Yeah. Without having access to your logs, it's really impossible to tell what caused this unless you can make it happen again.

I first said it in 1996, and I'll say it again now:

Computers are an interesting mix of science and voodoo.

Downloaded Windows wallet, updated blockchain, started mining with 12 threads (i7 5930k), after about 10 seconds I got a blue screen.

Don't use 12 threads. It might actually be slower than a lower number. I have that cpu and use 6 or 7 threads. I see no improvement beyond that because each thread actually performs worse on its own.

use show_hr on the daemon terminal to check

This is not an answer for your blue screen problem though
