I think bitcoin and altcoin complement each other, especially if you hold the highest altcoin then there is no need to worry about investing, it's just that you need to be patient while waiting for the market to recover, unless you hold bad altcoin, then discard and replace with altcoin which is better than before. .
you can’t be sure of the altcoin if it even enters in the top 10. large-capitalization does not guarantee that this coin will remain in this market and survive, and therefore you should always know what is happening inside the project

I believe Bitcoin can survive for long time without any other alternate cryptocurrencies. It happened and that is the reason we are here with these much amount of cryptocurrencies in the marketplace.
If there is no Bitcoin these things might not happened and we need to think in that way only.
Then we people need to check out the volume and circulation of other coins with Bitcoins to compare yourself.

Why do you think that? Why can't Bitcoin live without altcoins? When bitcoin appeared, there wasn't any altcoin. This should not be overlooked.

I think Bitcoin can survive alone. But I can't say the same thing about altcoins. If Bitcoin doesn't survive, make sure there's no altcoin left.

I think this is right. Bitcoin maybe the king of crypto as of now, but only time will tell what is it's future. I think bitcoin won't just die off, but eventually will come equal to others alts. I think it is wrong to say that alt coins are not the future, premium alts like ETH, BNB are really great and have a lot potential.

There are so many altcoins that had potential in future. but for me still bitcoin will be more potential and no one can surpass it as long as no other very useful altcoins or own crypto currency by government. because as of now bitcoin is still have the huge price over thousand of dollar. and I think non of this altcoins can reach that amount. for sure a lot will be happen in the next hour, day or month. so we used to do now is to learn more accumulate more knowledge and skill so we can keep up with the new trend.
Even if government create their own coin I think they will not still able to replace Bitcoin due to the fact that the coin will be created by them is not decentralized. Besides, Bitcoin is way more better to other altcoins for now due to the volume it have. Regarding if Bitcoin will able to stand alone, I think it will however, it will not be as great as it is now because altcoins have huge contribution in growth of Bitcoin.
The only thing that Bitcoin has today is really a very large capitalization and trading volume of the total cryptocurrency market.  Maybe I don’t understand much, but Bitcoin is still only a very profitable asset that will make a profit due to its volatility.  If Bitcoin's scalability is improved, then it will increase its chances of survival, and maybe they will more actively attract Bitcoin as a means of payment.  But until then, the situation has been mixed.

bitcoin maximalist may not understand how much they need altcoin, asides the use of bitcoin as asset because of its volatility, it a good choice for altcoin exchange and this generate a lot of volume trade for the coin daily. I sometimes wonder how most of the chart prediction of bitcoin get the currency value if there was not altcoin fund. I dont know how money could have flown into bitcoin to attain such a price if not altcoin, any ways those prediction came after last bullrun that gave 20x in a year

Yes you are in part right, but I personally believe in a time of crisis when all alts are going down, it is bettere to just buy and save some BTC becasue, you will have a better chance with BTC than with any other coin. Yes, alts, do hold their place in the crypto world, and they may one day compete with BTC, but right now BTC is the king and your are far safe with this than with any other coin.

Over 850 millions of people use alipay as means of payment mostly in china and i heard lots about wepay as well, i come to think of it that what if bitcoin was been used in their places instead? if alipay and wepay can get to where they are today then altcoins have all the chances of survival as well. Wepay and Alipay are just online payment solution, crypto can do better.

Real use cases plus real life working products, let these two be your main focus when picking altcoins to invest your money on, do not listen to those saying 'dump altcoins for bitcoin' when you are holding solid altcoins
I don't see any reason why bitcoin can't survive alone? You don't need altcoins for bitcoins to survive. As long as people buys and holds bitcoin it will survive. Even though if people can't use it as a form of currency, they can always use it as a store of value.
Sometimes your altcoins won't be giving you much profit like that of bitcoin. So it is better to let go of your altcoin and jump into bitcoin.
Altcoins can still be useful from time to time, I know that many people only see altcoins as a way to make money in the markets but altcoins serve another function as well and that is to allow us to test new ideas about how a cryptocurrency should perform, this is really important because it allows us to see if we can find a way to better implement a blockchain that is faster, more secure and easier to use without having to modify the code of bitcoin.

You're quite correct, Altcoins are now a way of life and even though bitcoin is the premier cryptocurrency, it is not the only one and would never be the only one, bitcoin introduced the technology so. It's only logical that there would be other Altcoins that would improve on the technology and they ain't going nowhere.

Id like to mentioned that even bitcoin alone with just 10 major altcoin market wouldn't tremble in fear. I guess people only expecting new projects to earn some dime from it.  I dont believe in this statement. I think bitcoin can survive considering its potential and the reputation as number 1 crypto in blockchain history.

Let the markets decide that. There was a time when the altcoin market cap was more that twice that of Bitcoin (I am talking about the 4th quarter of 2017). But the situation has got completely reversed now. The current altcoin market capitalization is less than half of that of Bitcoin (the last time I checked coinmarketcap, the Bitcoin dominance was standing at 68.3%. It will leave around 26% to 27% for the altcoins, if we keep the stablecoins and Bitcoin forks separate from it.

It can survive they have the dominance and the trust, and they are the number one coin in the market, they are not relying on any coin so they can always do it alone without this altcoin, it's the altcoins that can't survive without Bitcoin, because they rely on Bitcoin's trust to partake of that trust too, so give me Bitcoin anytime.

but if altcoin isn't there then the market will not look interesting. so I think the two share a market, even though bitcoin can live alone, there won't be this many users. if there is altcoin and bitcoin in the market, there will be more competition to attract investors and the market is more attractive as it is now but in terms of quality it should be questioned in the new altcoin

Even if there are good altcoins in the market today, it's still proven that bitcoin is giving us more profits compared to altcoins. So i cannot agree to OP why bitcoin cannot survive alone. Bitcoin leads the crypto market and altcoins are just at the back of bitcoin. And with its blockchain technology, i know it would be more useful if people come to adopt it in the future.
In fact Bitcoin helps a lot in our present lives and the recent big market changes will attract a lot of new investors in the near future. It is still too early to talk about Bitcoin price increase issue as the market is constantly volatile and today Bitcoin has risen more than $1,000 in just a few hours. I think there will be a lot of surprises for everyone so please wait patiently.

For me, Bitcoin is always the first choice and I always hold more than 60% to ensure profit in the long term.

Is this a hidden advertise about WePay and Alipay using a controversial statement in the topic title?
Alipay and Wepay both are not cryptocurrency or platform dealing with the industry, they are even ban users who are caught using their service for crypto.

I agree with you. Bitcoin can't do it alone, BTC needs altcoin's help to spread the crypto industry widely. Even many companies chose Ripple or Ethereum or other altcoins over Bitcoin because Bitcoin transaction takes a long time with higher fees. By seeing the bearish altcoin market, many people keep saying to sell altcoins to buy Bitcoin, some people always say shitcoin to all other coins except BTC! Real people won't care about their words. Just research yourself and pick a reputed altcoin, so you are good and you have no fear to hold those altcoins.
No, We need companies to use the blockchain not altcoins. Bitcoin can do it alone, we just need awareness about the tech.
