I'm a person who would like to do some work for Bitcoin, so I monitor freelancing sites occasionally, and at this time I feel like the freelance market in Bitcoin is nearly dead. The Services board is 99% listings of services rather than people who are looking to buy some; XBTfreelancer is empty or has 1-2 projects most of the time; cryptogrind has mostly just ridiculously underpaid projects or again service announcements (shouldn't they be banned there?), and there's also not much available projects overall; workingforbitcoins has very little traffic, just a few projects per month.

It was theorized that Bitcoin will help alleviate poverty by allowing people to work online without any restrictions, but on practice this just isn't happening. In your opinion, what is the reason for this?
In my opinion, more and more people are buying bitcoins just to have an investment in the future or for rainy days, they aren't using bitcoins for normal transactions. The reason behind is the higher fees for transaction as compared to those days where a couple dollars were enough for the transaction to be propagated in the next block or two, but now about every exchange is charging about $10 or more than that for sending bitcoins to any wallet.

In my personal opinion i will conclude that free premium job listing bitcoin freelancing services like https://www.xbtfreelancer.com are dead but there is one that requires an upgrade that still operates actively https://crypto.jobs requires $199 upgrade fees.

I really miss https://www.xbtfreelancer.com  Angry Angry Angry

Crypto.jobs looks too new to ask so much for its users. But it does have a great domain and I think this will actually be a good link that will rank on top of its searches.  I haven't really got a job from xbtfreelancer but I know there were employers there.

There are several more of the trusted job sites like Ethlance which you will have to pay ETH every time you do something. Kind of odd actually that instead of you getting paid, you first have to pay.
Indeed, the job market for freelancers, the activities of which are paid for by cryptocurrency, is really very small and is still a novelty.  Perhaps some cases of offers in past years were really phenomenal, because at that time everyone could make good money with the help of cryptocurrency, even if we take for example the Bounty Hunters.  Nevertheless, the payment for freelancers with the help of cryptocurrency is very specific in itself and I am sure that it will not be of a mass nature until the cryptocurrency is widely used in everyday life of a person.

So, depending here shouldn't be, we have those other options wherein we can life our life, cryptocurrency freelance is just an option, alternative way, and just for extra income, but this should not be your only source of income, unless you are already expert in day trading, wherein you can earn a lot thru short term trading. Freelancing is not just about crypto, so we should maximize our time properly with other things too.

In hindsight bitcoin will help everyone to work without any restrictions but the major issue is the economic slowdown is the major issue i am seeing right now as no one is coming forward to spend money for any new projects and that will affect the freelance market too, you can feel the slowdown in every sector and it is not targeted to any specific country, the slowdown is felt worldwide.

I am not sure whether you tried for cryptocurrency work in Fiverr or not
There you can find the people offering cryptocurrency services for the PayPal and fiat mode of payment for many works. People whoever not aware of the such available options will say they are unable to find more works.

its not dead, the salary is not like last year, and thats why people said that its dead, or bitcoin popularity down, etc. if you searching more and more. you will find the best. and its not give you high salary, but it will give you some token that have big potential in the future

Popularity had decreased when the market suddenly slumped down but it doesnt mean that freelancing is dead.Bitcoin jobs is just part of the industry.
Freelance works does still exist and in demand but blockchain related works had decreased down thats why it isnt really right to generalize it all for it to be dead.
But somehow we can still see few numbers of jobs asked but mostly this will be related to programming/coding, marketing, development etc.

I agree with that. It is all about searching for the possible opportunities in the world of cryptocurrency to see some projects that could be the next big thing in the market of cryptocurrencies. It is all about having dedication and you should be patient also because with this type of market, it is harder than before to find decent source of income because of the negative movement of the market.

The market just isn't mature enough yet. We are still in the volatile phase of crypto, it might honestly take years to go mainstream to the extent that it will support a freelancer platform.

Another issue is lack of escrow.

But really it's the same reason why there aren't so many other mature services for crypto.

Even though bitcoin is almost fully mined, it's still volatile.

Things will only change when the masses can easily get their hands on crypto and I don't mean via an online exchange.

It's a shame that there isn't a whale out there who could just give away say 100 bucks of bitcoin in some kind of postcode lottery. Not too much that people would use an exchange but enough that people will just spend it instead.

I don't see that the bitcoin freelancing is dead because as we can see there is a bounty and signature campaigns in which we can say that it is a bitcoin freelancing because we are working in exchange of a bitcoin and we can see that bitcoin freelancing is any job that is paid by bitcoin and other coins, so we can say that bitcoin freelancing is not dead because until now there is a job that is paid by bitcoin.

Yes, you are right. it is not dead. some freelancers are taking their move and find any job on crypto on their own. it is affect because of market but we are not blaming the market the most because a lot of projects now are not finding any much freelancers. everyone are worried too much on what is happening. freelancers are multiplied and you can find them anywhere in social media's. every each of them are hard worker and find crypto a better solution in future.

I think your looking at this in a wrong method, I wouldn't argue that Bitcoin freelancing is dead as a whole, but instead freelancing as a whole has been going downhill ever since everything has become a lot more professional.

The only companies that ever really hired freelancers are the new startups that would like to save a couple of bucks and go with a design/marketing/development agency, or a regular person who can't afford that much.

With the industry becoming a lot more professional and less start up and crypto start ups that are popping up, we are obviously going to see the market shrink.
The reason is simple - bitcoin is very volatile. For example, you agreed with the employer on 0.2 bitcoin. And the next day he fell 2 times. Freelancers do not want to work because of this risk. Therefore, many go to bounty and airdrops from other projects

It is quite easy to settle if the value they will choose will not depend on the market price of the crypto/bitcoin itself. But to consider that USD or stable coin conversion so they will have the same standard on how they will set the price for each services that they will offer and accept. Most of the time, this is happening as the main example are the bounty campaigns that has the rate of USD in their Bitcoin payment.

I don't think it is totally dead you can check the service section, it has a lot of freelancers that offer various works in exchange for Bitcoin, and we have many signature promoter who gets paid in Bitcoin by promoting various projects like gambling, mixer and exchanges, it's not totally dead, we just lack one big marketplace like Fiverr, that will housed every Bitcoin related freelancers.

Was that what satoshi really promised in his abstract or what we chose to believe of bitcoin when we got to know about it? And I think some of these misconceptions of bitcoin are caused by the people that actually introduced it to us, but we should have ourselves made findings on all these before we openly broadcast it.

To be honest, it is not what Satoshi envision.

There are so many benefits of bitcoin, and it is left to us to actually explore it and use it to our own benefit which may intend alleviate poverty, but the sole work of bitcoin is to create a peer transaction. Since the market became tight a little, it is been difficult to get bitcoin freelance jobs, but there are still other ways like trading that you can use to still make your daily income from bitcoin if you learn how to really do so.

Of course there are so many ways, after all bitcoin is still in it's infancy, 10 years? damn, that was young if you are going to have a market comparison. So as it mature, it also evolved, it could be used as peer to peer transaction, then it will become sound money. Just maybe in the future freelancing job will also evolved and be mature enough to accept bitcoin as payment method.

There were a lot of ICO's that plans to create one but they all failed miserably in the market, people are still hoping, Bitcoin could be a life saver for those who want to work from home doing a task.

Lols, I think I have seen tens of ICOs that were claiming they will solve the problem of freelancers and they will get you better payments better ....everything. But if you use common sense and realize that no matter what technology you have at hand if you don't have water you can't grow fish, it was clear from the start that all those projects depend on people that are offering those jobs
And if there is no offer, you can't create them from this air...

I hate to admit it but you are right, ICOs are politicians that's better at making promises but never fulfilling it, they do all the talking but they lack in actions, they are just after our money and support, after that, they will throw our efforts and trust on trash cans like nothing. ICOs are the human, we are the fish, and they put us on a very nice aquarium and feed us (false hope) and when after we made them happy (by making their ICO a success)

they will break that aquarium leaving the all fish dies that can't breathe without water.

Since the market became tight a little, it is been difficult to get bitcoin freelance jobs,

tight or indemand must lead to explosion of jobs and careers  . these days we can now find many sites that offers jobs and pays in crypto when compare to before but then again the competition is tight  .

Quote
but there are still other ways like trading that you can use to still make your daily income from bitcoin if you learn how to really do so.
trading is not easy but still learnable however the problem is that trading is not free  . you still need to find a job to earn and you can then use those funds to start trading  .

And how many campaigns out there that are being paid with Bitcoin? There are only a handful. And these jobs are actually bounty related. It may still be considered a freelancing job. However, I want to see more of freelancing jobs such as article writing, SEOs, programming, virtual assistance, and so many more that will be paying in Bitcoin. There was a time when projects were created on the freelancing industry. But they seemed to be faring less than good.
