The market share of Bitcoin is slowly decreasing because of the introduction of new kind of cryptocurrencies in which Bitcoin users invest their money during ICOs in which they will revert back to bitcoin. Bitcoin's dominance is seen on its price in which no other altcoins can match is price not even one can go close to it. I might say that it will still be dominant for a few years or so.

This may mean a lot, and this may mean nothing, depending on how you define a Bitcoin market share.

in this case these market shares are almost all defined by giant pumps solely on poloniex.

like so much related to market cap, it's a mirage. it is volume but that volume is happening largely in bitcoins. and these volumes are enabled by bitcoin's frictionlessness. i'd love to see fiat/alt volumes on coinmarketcap instead. it's speculation on top of speculation. all hot air.

there's probably significant fiat volume for certain coins but I wouldn't wait 3 days for a bank transfer so I could buy potcoin or something.

Yeah bitcoin is very stronger and powerful and there is no one can be competitive with bitcoin because bitcoin is very advance and modern currency and a lot of people are adopting bitcoin in huge amount so bitcoin has no competition .
I think bitcoin has many competition those altcoin in the market cap almost all are bitcoins competition.. but bitcoin is the first succeed and  those altcoin are just clone with added feature but bitcoin still the original and more secure than other crypto currency..

exactly bitcoin had lost its competition. other coins are in heavy competition and bitcoin is still in same price that is $600. please will anyone let me know when bitcoin price is going to rise up.

You are living in past, the price has already started growing up and the price right now is around $650 but not $600.
And bitcoin obviously does not have any competition as all other coins are not able to cross the value it has nor they can get as much users and trust as bitcoin did until now, so there competition with each other and bitcoin is the king.

Definitely you are right. I was also one of those who thought bitcoin will get replaced with something else but all failed and yet bitcoin still lives stronger than ever. It is even immune to exchange hacks now, with those information in the hand and the possiblity of the WWIII because of the probability of Hitlery getting elected, there is only one way for bitcoin: > moon.

Ofcourse Bitcoin has no competition as if Bitcoin wasnt so gut, we all wouldnt be here trying to replicate it in the form of so many Altcoins.

I believe bitcoin is the most dominant currency in the online and there is no competition as most of the supporters in the community would prefer to use a dual purpose digital currency than the other, dual purpose in the sense that we can also consider this as an investment.

This may mean a lot, and this may mean nothing, depending on how you define a Bitcoin market share. Obviously, defining the market share as the the inverse of the sheer number of cryptocurrencies out there is meaningless since most altcoins are either shit coins or outright scams. On the other hand, a more thorough definition of the market share of Bitcoin as its share denoted in some fiat currency (for example, in dollars) in the total market cap of all cryptocurrencies is not without caveats either. A decreasing Bitcoin market share which might be due to altcoins eating away at fiat is one thing and them eating away at Bitcoin is totally different...

The devil is in the detail, as always

There are many cryptocurrencies out there like bitcoin but I don't think that you can call it competition cause it's obviously clear that bitcoin is standing out among them. And many altcoins depends/based in bitcoin that's why bitcoin is like the Father among them  Grin

I agree what ever altcoins will show up the bitcoin is still no. 1 and cannot be compare on a competition. it became popular on so many years and it will not change. There are still no born coins that will change bitcoin

Yes now bitcoin market is too stable and it's price is stuck in $600 May be difference of $30 to $70 happens but that doesn't make sense with $600. But see other coins like BLRY it's price keeps fluctuating from 400 to 700 Satoshi every 3 days. And traders have much more opportunities in such case. Now bitcoin trading is of very less profit.
You shouldn't compare the volatile nature of altcoins with the kind of volatility that we are experiencing with Bitcoin.

Don't forget that a $30 price difference equals a 5% change in value with Bitcoin being valued at $600.

Maybe for you it may not seem like much, but when you think about what's needed to get the price to go up that much, you'll not think like you are doing right now anymore.

In all honestly you can't foresee what the future holds. ETH was supposed to challenge BTCBTCBTC but look at it now, I've read their gonna have another fork.

I think right now already has the ethereum competition  Wink
I already have a same think with you, Although ETH get a hardfork in this time. the progress of eth in the future will be a rival for bitcoin and consider from their market cap.... i believe with it...

Apart from ETH I think XMR is a tough competitor for bitcoin and may be in future it can replace bitcoin but for that to happen I think it will take very long time.

To be said that it has no competition will be actual false statement.  Might be at present you can say it does not have but just think when banks were opened initialy they did ever thought there would be one day blockchain technology will come and may pose some risks to banks.

In the same way in coming years will have something more better and more useful than btc, which will be more used than this. Yes at present it is the best to be said.

Actually bitcoin does have competitions

there's several altcoins that can compete with bitcoin, and even traditional payment methods are competition.

they might have their downsides compared to bitcoin but that does not mean they don't compete.

Correct, theres no really competition up here  on bitcoin hence all altcoin do depend their  prices on bitcoin itself which means  its nonsense. But there are altcoin devs which are eager to do more moves or  development to compete with bitcoin but still they fail on that aim because  bitcoin is  the top of  all cryptos.
