Well, this is a very good news since in our country (Philippines) already uses uber as a transportation.I like this stuff so that I could already tip some of my bitcoins to the drivers which has a good behavior. This is very useful on tipping when there is a promo in uber,In that way I can also help them by giving some of my exces bitcoins.

If Uber start accepting Bitcoin as payment then I am sure that many people will start buying it.
Uber is one of the most popular taxi service, It is popular because their fares are not too high they are even sometimes lower then the ordinary cab and also you get uber on your doorstep. I guess that Uber will start accepting Bitcoin as payment.
And yeah no one is going to tip anyone with Bitcoins? Our drive fare 5$ only and what do we have to tip to driver lol.

If they accept as payment then yes we are gonna pay.

Bitcoin and uber can work together because they are like the future of their own field because bitcoin might be the future of financial system while uber is the future of the transportation system. They can work together to give convenient transportation service and also to give them an easier way to pay fees that they get from riding an Uber.

This is good news and exposure for bitcoins and cryptocurrency in general.  However, I would never tip in bitcoins, especially for a ride service.  What if one day bitcoin rises to levels where your tip alone could of purchased a car?  That would really hurt.
I totally agree with you. I would not like to spent my bitcoins for such things like taxi.

I ama ctually very surprised Uber started accepting Bitcoin already. They have been slow to introduce "new" payment ideas... not in this case obviously.

No they don't accept it. It's an optional tipping feature.

well, This will make it easier for uber users.
As opposed to uber drivers will have more advantage especially with the price of bitcoin now that continue to rise, this will give a good impact for them, they can also invest in the bitcoin they earn

Not when the coins transferred through the 3rd party are immediately exchanged to usd Wink.

Wow this is great! Cheesy But how about the transfer fee? Is it took into account?

Why should it be taken into account? When you buy something via bank transfer do they charge you the sum less the 40$ fee?
Of course nobody cares how much fee you pay. You want to tip, it's all your problem and your money.

And the bad news is that the fees are again creeping higher and higher.

I think bitcoin usage in paying for fares and tips for Uber drive is a good option for the travelers but unfortunately it can only happen in few developed countries and lots of under-developed countries cant still use Bitcoin not for the reason of ignorance of bitcoin by people by the technology and other things.
Yes, it will be quite a good option for Uber if you wouldn’t like to waste time waiting for confirmation time. If you will like to make things quick, or maybe you’re in a hurry, I don’t think it will be a very good option.
You have a point there. Until the time comes that bitcoin transactions can be confirmed as quick as possible, just like debit cards, then that should be an encouragement for Uber drivers to accept bitcoin and other digital currencies, for that matter. But for now, for areas where traffic is a bitch, the high priority transactions might be the best option for tipping.

This is a good alternative transaction if a transport system such as uber is able to receive payments using bitcoin, if this is true will be applied by uber transport payments, then bitcoin will gradually become more popular among the public.
Very supportive of every country will follow this alternative, very easy to use. Hopefully it is not applied only in strong countries like Japan America and other European countries. One day everybody uses to trade, do vacations and more. Trust in Bitcoin will increase. I am sure that bitcoin will be around the world. Wink
Uber took a very good decision because this company not only existing in one country. In most of the country, we will see uber cabs. I also use this cab regularly, but here we don't have this facility. I think they implement one by one country. And yes this great move from uber to reach bitcoins to more people.
There are countries that are difficult to apply uber use, including my country there is a government role to limit the use of uber. How is it possible for the government to allow payments with Bitcoin they always think traditional and slow to respond to new technologies.

I wouldn't consider this Hay Day. Bitcoin is going to make it into the common market when it does and there's no reason for us to push for it and there's no reason for us to look for it.

Uber and Bitcoin are among the most earth shattering advancements as of now available. Uber, some portion of the purported sharing economy, has made employments and helped individuals touch base at their goal securely.
So I am very happy to listen this great news.

That's a good news since Uber in the Philippines is very popular. Actually it is more popular than the traditional taxi. If they are going to accept bitcoin, much better. But the transaction fee plus the rate of meter, isn't that a bit expensive? Anyway, this is a good help for bitcoin because this will promote bitcoin more. And hopefully bitcoin will be a part of people for their everyday lives. Good job Uber.

The fares are still paid in fiat or card. Bitcoin is just for tipping and it's optional, at least for now.

They would have done better allowing bitcoin for fares as well. With the transaction fees being what they are, no-one is going to use bitcoin for tipping.

Agreed. I would like to see uber accepting Bitcoin as a payment option. Hopefully the responses  are good and uber will add BTC in payment list soon.

Nice, even though this isn't probably the basic uber system for paying for rides, nevertheless, nice to see bitcoin there, and them finally listening to all the emails about enabling it.
