I came late to the Bitcoin party and missed out on your 'Bitcoin Specie' round.
Been some time since I wrote regarding this idea, and I have spun off a dedicated thread for mine; but figured many who appreciated the concept may have it on-notify & It's sorta the same concept.

Right, so anyhow: Been a LONG time silver bug and sound money advocate/small business barter fan, as many in the 'Honest Money'/Private Contract community are. I loved that you resurrected Bernard von Nothaus' Lady Liberty in your 'New Liberty Dollar' project.   Guess I loved both ideas so much I took it upon myself to merge them to commemorate the coming 20th YEAR Anniversary of The Liberty Dollar by reaching out to Bernard to license the use of an original Luigi Badia plaster sculpt to create a 'NEW BitCoin Specie' round; building on your ideas with the twist of showing JUST the current and accurate SPOT value for 'One Ounce Fine Silver' against the USD and handful of virtual currencies (BTC, ETH, DASH, XMR, LTC & DOGE).

What wonderful concepts!!  FORKED IT!! Wink

Been working on this since March 2017: Collaborating, licensing, production, web development and the like and currently have the first 100 limited edition, individually numbered PROOF rounds in hand; with a second batch in production that reflect some alteration/revisions to the reverse.

Thank You Joeseph Van Perling and Bernard vonNothaus for the inspirations, which when combined and modified resulted in my project offering. Thanks also to everyone who supports alternative forms of settlement and savings.

Welcome to the SaltySpitoon, how Tough are ya?
Woah, thats great news. Funny enough, I bought one of those coins probably 6-8 months ago as a joke, back when no one thought Trump had the slightest possibility of winning. I thought it was funny, and I had to hit a threshold to get free shipping on an order. The premium on the Trump coin brought me right to the limit.

BvNH and all the customers with gold and silver in custody were awarded their metal back.
No prison time served.

I am very happy that this is the end result.

Bernard von NotHaus is not involved.
The article headline is misleading, the lower court case for him is not yet settled, he has not been sentenced and has a motion before the court for acquittal.
We would maintain that he is not guilty of any current law, and innocent of any wrongdoing, and that the prosecution has not proved their case, but the jury was bamboozled.  Hopefully justice will prevail.

He has suffered much at the misguided efforts of the federal prosecution, we wish him well.

For those that did not hear the resolution of the Liberty Dollar case.

The judge did not overrule the conviction handed down by the jury.  What the judge did instead is essentially nullify the penalty in the sentencing.

It seems that Judge Voorhees was utterly convinced of Bernard Von Nothaus's innocence.  However if he overruled the jury verdict (as is his right as the 13th juror.  The prosecution did not prove their case on any of the counts.  There was no intent to defraud, no intent to conspire, nor to counterfiet.  There were in fact no victims either of any fraud nor counterfeiting nor conspiracy.  Despite the charges not being proved by the prosecution, the jury was overwhelmed by the show of force of the prosecution with FBI, Secret Service, and very expensive prosecution lawyers (especially when compared to the lawyers provided to BvNH after all his wealth was seized by the government and could not afford to pay for more).

So instead of overruling the jury, which would have resulted in an appeal, perhaps a new trial, and likely another decade of litigation taking what is left of BvNH's life time, the judge split the baby by cutting the sentence to nil.

BvNH and all the customers with gold and silver in custody were awarded their metal back.
No prison time served.

Basically, free to go without any penalty other than the conviction on his record.

The entire process was a great travesty of justice, and abuse of power for political reasons.  A private business was punished due to the free speech of its founder who advocated for the National Organization for the Repeal of the Federal Reserve Act (NORFED).
For saying the same things that many senators and representatives also say, a private citizen's life and legacy were destroyed.

Fortunately he is back in business and as dangerous as ever.
Now he is exercising his free speech with a "Trump Dollar" in gold, silver and copper.
It was released during the 2016 primary season long before Donald Trump was even the nominee.

I am not involved in this, other than as an admirer of Bernard's artistry, but it seems to have had some success.

Thank you for sharing this.

I was unaware of the current standing of the case.

Just goes to show that power corrupts absolutely. Those in power do not want to see competing currencies and therefore resort to underhanded tactics.

Having the 'wrong' value minted onto the coin is a historical note.  It shows the approximate value of the piece on the year it was minted.
Contrast with the 'real-time' value of the QR pricing.

I like it. Tried to visit your website today (with a view to a purchase), but didn't get very far. Whats up ? Basically was asked if I understood the deal - yep, I do - but then couldn't get any further.
Apologies if this has been explained upthread but I don't have the time to search back.

Thank you for the support.  The vetting process is for wholesale buyers.

Yes, I do see the contrast, and I do think the QR pricing is really cool.  Eventually I'm going to get me one of these, but apprantely that eventually is longer out than I suspected, ha.  I do think that if I had designed it I wouldn't have minted that "historical note".

Sorry for the necro-bump, but I just ran across this thread thanks to the link in OP's signature.

I'm really wanting to know two things:

1) What URL does that QR code resolve to?  (is it still working today?)
2) Are these still for sale?

I love the idea of a silver coin that tells its value in BTC.  I've never seen anything like it and I hope that I can find one and that the links in them still work!

I believe the only way to get the Silver Bitcoin Specie nowadays is through Re-Sellers. User tyrion70 actually has both the 2013 and 2014 versions, along with the Limited Edition gold-plated Silver Bitcoin Specie (only 100 minted) for sale here on the forum. They are very nicely made coins, some of my favorite BTC and silver coins, and they look great.

Unfortunately though, there are tons of fake Silver Bitcoin Species floating around out there on eBay. You can easily spot them because they are usually listed for ~$4, are coming from China, and are almost guaranteed to be silver-plated (if even plated) instead of 1 Troy Ounce .999 Fine Silver like the real deal are. Sadly I think this fact brings down the value of the real Silver BTC Specie coins.

An example of the fakes here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/2pcs-freedom-BTC-Coin-Gold-silver-Plated-Physical-Bitcoin-souvenir-coin-/271860732183?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3f4c299117
These are NOT the real Silver Bitcoin Species as released by NewLiberty. No one would be selling real 1 oz .999 Silver coins for ~$5 a piece with the spot price of silver more than 3x that currently.

Yah, that's too bad.  And I zoomed in on the image of the qr on the OP and it seems it resolves to bithardcash.com/ag which doesn't seem to be up anymore.  Too bad.

I wonder if those guys would ever renew the domain or hand it off to someone who can host it (I'd host it for free if I just have to run a widget to show the price of an ounce of silver in BTC).

Looking more closely I think it was a mistake to put .25 quarter bitcoin on the front.  Since the QR code is supposed to resolve to the actual current value, putting the wrong value on the front seems weird.  Stil a cool looking coin tho.

Doh!  Sorry.   I've ended that listing and re-listed without your image. http://www.ebay.com/itm/201539137536

For the record, this image was on imgur, and had no mention of who the owner was or that they were copyrighted.
Thanks. The album that contains the image has a "by" tag, which links to http://bitcoininformation.imgur.com which should say that I'm the owner.

If the album I linked isn't the album you found, let me know as that means that someone has blatantly copied my whole album!
