We are always improving things, yes its a nasty one but however many unit tests you perform some things do slip through Sad

We would always recommend users of our API have their own fail-safes in place on top of what we have.

We commented on this at the time (almost 2 weeks ago now), i believe this is from BitGo?

A BRL exchange put out bad data and a bug in our sanity checks let it pass briefly because it was the only local currency market at the time. This logic has since been reworked.

Yeah, it was from Bitgo, this is a dangerous issue since some exchangers trust you with your data.

At least we can learn from this bug to add velocity settings.

We are still unaware of a public API, are we missing something?

Would y'all and the Mycelium gang make it so that the trades on Mycelium LocalTrader are also included in BitcoinAverage, please?

Thanks for your time.

We have emailed them a few times recently actually with no response. Best if you contact them direct, the more of their own users that email in the more likely they will get it done Smiley

Will this help?

Localtrader API

What's the status of this? Does Mycelium have to take any action for y'all to get data from their API and integrate it into your index?

OK, I gotta say the Alexa feature is cool.

I will certainly add your API to our website as well, we are expanding in some countries where we need local market rates instead of converting to local currency from USD

Hey Bitcoinaverage-Team,

hope this is not the wrong place to ask, however I have a question regarding your api (limitations):

As there are api request limitations (monthly) on most of your plans I was wondering how this is applied to websocket feeds?

If I subscribe to a certain feed, I assume I get updates pushed to the client?

How does this count against a monthly api limit.. is each push counted as a request or only the websocket subscribe?

Thanks in advance for any clarification!

Matt

Apologies for the very long response, I have updated notifications from this forum so we're informed of any future replies.

WS limits are handled differently, we currently allow more client connections for paying users. Update frequencies also vary across plans with the free user at 20 seconds I believe right now.

If you have any other questions feel free to email us directly!

Seems like Yen volume in BTC was very low. Now all of a sudden it's more than 7% of global volume?!  Roll Eyes

Why is Quinone exchange not being ignored for it's zero-fee model, the way the bogus CNY exchanges are?

This is a very good point, and its something we are still working on. We will shortly be adding some CNY exchanges to the index, weighted using various new factors that enables us to spot which exchanges are operating "out of the ordinary" shall we say Smiley

The reason Quoine were included is we ran their book against our algorithm initially and it didn't actually pick up any untoward behaviour (at least to the level of other unnamed exchanges).

We will follow up with more detail on this via our blog when things are tested further, hope that answers your question at least for now

I may write code in exchange for bitcoins.
Price is frozen at 672.42 in the website, and the api is stuck at 671.78.
It's been like this for a couple of hours.
Current USD average should be 684.6

Must have been some temporary issue.  It seems to be fine now.  I see the current price at 666.55 USD as of 5 July.

This is good site to check daily bitcoin price and also the site has useful tools so i marked  this site in my browser for future reference.

Indeed, bitcoinaverage, as far as I can tell, is basically the best for bitcoin price.  +the tools and api +the open source code.  I'm a long time fan.
