You probably missed it, but BTCChina was mentioned in July in this thread.  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=270190.msg7936557#msg7936557
They dropped them for a while already apparently: http://www.coindesk.com/bitcoin-exchange-btc-china-eliminates-trading-fees/

Regarding LakeBTC: after reading the interview with their CEO, I think they are less shady than btc-e, so why not?
http://cointelegraph.com/news/112112/a-ban-should-target-risky-products-and-foul-players-not-bitcoin-itself-lakebtc-ceo-thomas-xie

The only thing I'm not clear about is their Dark pool. They say the orders don't show on the orderbook, but it's not clear to me if they show in their history. I have asked in their thread.

Edit: They do show in the history:

how does it works?  would the orders within the dark pool to be priority?

no. all orders get matched in the same way. dark pool orders are not displayed in public orderbook - that's the only difference.

Just to clarify: Do they show in the history?

yes they do. they get matched with all other orders and once executed, they show in the history like everybody else.

We wanted to ask the community if they have had any dealings with LakeBTC.com. They have extremely large volume for a new exchange and I don't know a single trader (and i know a few) that have used them.

https://www.lakebtc.com/api_v1/ticker

Just wanted to put the feelers out before integrating them into our system, it seems they paid Coindesk to integrate them into their index or have some other deal.

Note: Yes they do have fees for trades.

How come you are so cautious when you still have BTC China listed? How many traders do you know on that 0% fee exchange?

BTCChina never used to have 0% fees, this is why they are still included in v1, yes we need to remove them, but in v2 they aren't included.

Adding a new exchange i would like to check, i know many people using btcchina and okcoin, but none that use lakebtc.

As for 0% fee exchanges in general we are looking at including them all, but only using for example 25% of their volume for weighting. We would like to do a poll with the community to gauge what people would think is a fair %, and if the idea is ok with the majority.

Very cool on the widget generator.  I write my own code so I won't need it personally but I really like all the work you guys are doing.  By the way, is there anything that funds the project?  I haven't really seen ads on the site so if they're there, they're pretty unobtrusive.

No funds, only from ads, we could really do with some to push things forward!

With AdblockPlus 2.x (that has the "allow unobtrusive ads" feature) I see two ads, plus the referral link to BitVPS. I click them on a regular basis  Wink

Thanks!

Another question: I saw that btc price on bitcoinaverage went all the way to 0 for one moment yesterday.  Does anyone know what that's about?

BitcoinAverage's historical data is being used by http://libratax.com/ for their accounting software, referencing us for their 'fair market value'

Nice!

I also notice that google recently added a btc price to it's currency conversion service.  Do you know if they're using your api or calculating it some other way?

They are using Coinbase for price index .

Too bad, not that coinbase is bad, but bitcoinaverage seems like a better option for an overall view.  How did you figure out they were using coinbase?

Bitstamp has been marked as "unreachable since 25 Jul, 11:22 UTC" and ignored, but the Bitstamp API appears to be working just fine.

Hi,

Bitstamp, Coinfloor and Kapiton are protected by Incapsula, our hosting provider has had a range blocked by them and they are working to resolve this. We've been contacted the these exchanges directly also and our suggestion is for them to raise a ticket with Incapsula to help speed things along.

Yet another time Incapsula have caused us issues!

BitcoinAverage
Appreciate the post thanks for the update.

Bitcoinaverage ARE U FCN kidding me ?

I dont know if you already do this but just to prevent api or exchange errors I would discard any exchange rate that is 30% up or 30% lower that the other ones.

For example:
Bitcoinaverage pulls Bitstamp, Kraken and BTC-e api, result
Bitstamp: 100$
Kraken: 105$
BTC-E: 10284$ (sounds like an error here)

As BTC-E rate is more than 30% up compared to the other exchanges it is automatically discarded from the average.

Also checking if the exchange rate is more than 10$ can avoid showing 0$ when some api is down.

I know , im just kidding . Cheesy
