Good work! Would be even better if it was available in a neat little chrome extension. Might be something I'll just make myself though.

Thanks. Yes extensions/widgets/apps are all things that will come in the future if people haven't already developed them Smiley

There are currently a few people who have shown interest in using the API for such things, so feel free to create one yourself!

Not sure for others but Bitcointalk++ accepts BitcoinAverage as a source

Hey there -

Great site/service, and definitely needed + appreciated.  Agree with the post above; would be really amazing to see a visual graph of the averages, and how things have fluctuated.  Thank you so much for the site.  Grin

Excellent work, I'm thinking of making an android widget that uses your api.   Should we talk more first or can I just go ahead?

Hi,

Great idea...

I think you should add some other high-volume exchanges -- BTCChina for one.

Also, can you use vwap rather than last price for each index, where available? This should give you better results.

Yes, both these things will be implemented we hope on Wednesday, along with some other changes

Please get that icbit price out of the average. i want to use your site for pricing but cant if you are going to have an average that is so far way from the average between mt gox and bitstamp.

If you add local  bitcoin ask prices please keep it separate.

The data is weighted,

icbit    0.00%    0.18

This will not influence the price you use at all as its less than a quarter of a bitcoin, does that help ?

I think the above also covers your comment regarding localbitcoins, their volume is currently 0.51%

Cool service, Inputs.io uses this (fallback to whatisthebitcoinprice and then fallback to MtGox).

With localbitcoins you should do some sanity checking - it was reporting an ask of a few million EUR per BTC two days ago.

Mtgox as always has the best prices  Cheesy
You should include bid and asks prices. Volume would be great as well.

If you take a look at the site, everything you mentioned is included Smiley
