My gut feeling is UEFA will prevail. They own the competition, it's their rules, and no one is ever forced to play. And City plus their fans have, as leea points out, been very vocal AGAINST them. Tinged with personal vendetta? Maybe. For me what's most interesting is, if they gave false books to UEFA, presumably they did the same for EPL. Will English FA investigate?

Will it be good NOT to see Citeh in Europe next season (remember this is a UEFA ban so not even Europa League!)? Maybe it's a good lesson not to overextend with money. They'll be missed for sure, but yeah as hilarious says, going to make the EPL harder than ever to win for any other team!

This is the issue for me though. How can UEFA be objective or be fair in handing out punishments. They seem the judge jury and executioner. Couldn't they just pull a random figure out the air to fine them? It's obviously in their interests to fine them as much as possible and that why these things need to be independent of the governing body. I dunno how I feel about it. I don't know the full extent of what City did yet as I haven't read up in depth, but there definitely needs to be some harsh punishments for teams that essentially just cheat by throwing money at players, but at the same time I don't think they should ruin clubs or be biased in their decisions.

Anybody watching Man City vs West Ham?

The stadium is less than half full & this is a Premier League game, not an early round of a domestic cup. They are such a fake, plastic, shitty little club.

In their defense, it's prolly cos of the resched...  And the cold.  And yeah, lots of 'supporters' riding the Pep wave.  I actually stopped being vocal around here about being a City supporter when Pep came in.  It's like the club started being uncool.  But it's fun having him around in the EPL...  And Mou.  Lol.

@hilarious. Yeah, great article... but it doesn't actually answer if an appeal means the decision can be delayed. By all normal legal implications in civil court, if a ruling is made and an appeal made, then they would have to suspend the ban until they review the appeal. This is very different kind of court though haha...

But I'm pretty sure this review will be quicker than most processes, because they (UEFA) won't want the appeal to result in City still playing after being found guilty. Also, in criminal courts, if you appeal and don't win, the judge tends to be even harsher with the judgment. That likely won't be the case here though.

This article (beware, it's Daily Mail) suggests that they will be successful, Pep wants to stay, and he's pissed at Barcelona for their comments.

That's really incredible. I mean, you bet if my team (Barca) fell to second division we would still be full. I mean, it's easy for me to say when we still win many things but I started watching when it was Real who were in control... I watched right after they won La Liga in 1990s and then for next 5 years won nothing we even almost got relegated and finished 6th, we had stupid Luis Figo leave us for stupid Real but I loved it anyway.

These City fans jumped on when their club did well but come on, fall to 2nd place and no support?

Maybe City supporters have decided to scout possible opposition in Champions League rather then watch the game in PL. After all they will be runners up at the end of season, and CL is what makes they heart tick. Especially after news that they will be kicked out of it for 2 years. Have you guys heard that City can basically pause that decision with some legal stuff so they can still play CL next season and then do the suspension?

I think the appeal will mean the decision cannot happen for next season,,, plus I think the ban will be reduced to one year, it is like even Chelsea ban from transfer market it only one season instead of 2 like it originally was.

City fans do not like EUFA too they always booed the anthem remember?

Are you sure? I think they should be given a grace period as to appeal so it doesn't effect them if they're successful in their appeal, but from what I've read the ban comes into effect for the next Champion's League and is until 2022.

There's a lot of questions answered in this article: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/51511252

Luckily for City it seems most of their big players are contracted beyond 2022 so they should be safe from refusing to sign a new deal because of no Champions League play. Sergio Aguero's expires in 2021 so he could leave then but only waiting one more year for Champion's League football shouldn't be a biggie. I wonder if Pep will be true to his word as well. Something tells me he could just throw a fit behind the scenes or something just to get sacked, which I'm sure he would be anyway if they don't start winning the league again, which should be much easier with no CL games to worry about.

I guess I am relieved we only lost by 1 goal. But it is going to be difficult for us away next leg Sad

I climbed to 5th spot:)

I find your lack of faith in Bitcoin disturbing.
Hopefully PSG is next, that's probably the club I despise the most.

I reassure you, PSG will fall apart on its own.
After the match against Dortmund:
- Kimpembe's brother insulted Tuchel...
- Neymar blames the club for not having him play in the last four games.

And at the end of the season, Tuchel will be fired, Neymar will cry again to leave the club and M'Bappé will go to Real Madrid.

Oh, I'd love that! United finishing 5th thinking they will be in CL next season, only for City to do some legal crap and play it instead Grin
Whenever they are out of it, it will be a massive blow. One I'm looking forward to because they made fun of FFP since it started.

Great win by the Madrid people, and against the current holders, that was an excellent win but was the match good to watch? Could not find anything other than a highlight reel at the moment and it looked pretty boring since there was not even one save from the keeper! Hope they can keep the scoreline to the same in Anfield, then they have away goal and Liverpool must score 3!

It was a decent enough. Liverpool actually had far more possession - 73 percent in fact - but I'd say the game was 50-50-ish overall. Liverpool had a goal disallowed and I think they deserved a point at least. They should win the return leg I think, but they could have done without the pressure, but if they can come back from a 3-0 defeat at Barca then they can certainly do this one as well. Not gonna bother with watching the two games tonight. Gone for narrow home wins in both fixtures. Next weeks matches are far more interesting. Madrid vs City will be one to watch.

^I’m not seeing Tottenham as clean favourite as I see Atalanta today, RB L. is in a great shape, that’s why I will go on goals scored for my ticket, and for the pool prediction, maybe will go for a draw of 1:1 or 2:2

RBL are a good team, especially going forward. I just think Spurs will frustrate them and that Mourinho will find a way to play to his team's strength.
Spurs are a better team overall, playing at home. I will risk it Smiley
After watching last night matches today most of peoples are going with home teams because this is pretisgious tournament in Europe and all teams wants to stay in for as long they want so they will play with full strength Atlanta is very good side at home but Valencia is also able to give shock any team in Europe and in other match Tottenham is good but RBL is also go with attacking tactics.

Yup, both Atalanta and Tottenham look like clear favorites today. Also, it is safe to assume both games will have goals in them.

I think I'll go with over 2,5 in Atalanta game and Tottenham draw no win.

^  Yup me too.  Sad  How many more fixtures to go?  I think it'd take a couple weeks of perfect picks to get out of this rut.  Lolol.

Anyway I think the most interesting match up behind Pep vs Zidane is Mou vs Nagelsmann...  Who you guys got?

I probably should give up on this pool. I seem to do really badly after doing well last season, but mainly because I followed the bookies in the last group stages. I think tonight we'll have a draw, and I really like Atalanta but Valencia will be annoyed they got knocked out of the cup comp so this is their chance here.

Good luck to you guys at the top. You seem to be doing so well. Only 1 guy Mbitr made 2 correct calls last night!

No draws after all but I lost 4 parlays already, since they all went with Liverpool winning so that's some cash down the drain haha. Pity, as I backed Dortmund... Haaland just can't seem to not score in Europe (cept in 1 match vs Liverpool actually!) and he made the right move choosing BVB over United here!

Anyone else though Trent was off for huge portions of the game? Those first two crosses that went high and way, way off mark. I thought we were just a tad off the pace. Every time we took just a second longer, Atleti got back in a disciplined double line of four. Really needed to pass quicker or take more shots. But still, we lost rather well, all in all.

@leea If we play like we did on the night, we probably will concede 1, but I'm sure we'll score the goals we need. Anfield is a completely different affair, as many a team can testify.
