I think your profile is messed up. Look at your profile page (https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/chris-662129). It reports your number of posts as 187. Now look at the number of the last post on https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/chris-662129;sa=showPosts;start=180. It is 189. Normally that number is one less than the post count, but yours it's two. This I think is causing the problems since I create an array whose size is the post count reported in the profile. However that post count doesn't match up with the posts in your show posts page, which is what is screwing the site up.

It's probably a bug in the forum and you should probably open a thread in meta about it.
Oehm, my profile page counts 1671 posts, my last post list counts 1665.
Yet, I haven't had any problems getting my token: qoeht05o
You probably have a couple of posts that ended up in the trashcan. Those posts go into the post count but don't show up in the show posts pages. It is fine to have a post count above what is in the show posts, but when it is below like with Chris!, then we have problems.

I made a thread in meta about this here: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/forum-post-count-problems-1397338

I'm still receiving an error:

"Your token is bgjs54d
Share this estimate: http://www.bctalkaccountpricer.info/?token=bgjs54d
Request Failed"

I saw you had said it could be something to do with an IP ban before. Would that be the case for just one profile (mine to be exact. UID 662129)?

Thanks for looking into it for me. I hadn't noticed the difference before. That should resolve the issue!

I have a suggestion. Why not create perma-links, so someone trying to sell his account could put a link to his analysis in his signature ?
There are Permalinks, kinda. Under the token there is a link for "Share this estimate" and that will link back to the estimate once it generates. The estimate only stays on the server for a week though so that link will only work for one week. This is so that storing the estimates doesn't crash my server.

That's not what I exactly meant. By "permalink", I meant a token that never expire, so you could put a signature and won't have to replace it every week. A small fee, could be taken, like 0,001BTC to cover the stress on your server. However, I would prefer to have this feature for free.
I considered doing that and I actually was going to, but life happened, I got lazy, and it just never happened. Once I get some more time I will resume working on this.

so you are the owner and the builder of this site http://www.bctalkaccountpricer.info/ ??
great, and also you have no wrong to wrote it in java, very good site, thanks. and i wanna ask you,how accurate this site to estimate btalk account price in percentage?
It is probably not all that accurate. What it mostly is good for is checking potential activity and addresses that the user has posted.

It seems to be still accurate, because I saw someday a trusted member selling accounts based on the price given by the estimator. I use only the tool to get my activity, and even that is still really cool Wink !

I guess the potential price which the member id should have potential earnings expected should include potential earnings from the signature campaign he is registered with

Few ids shows the value is just .1 btc however by making few posts members are able to earn the same amount in few days / weeks

Its just a suggestion to make it look better Smiley

I was waiting a bit to se if this would work for me now but it still seem to give me the 'request failed' error. User ID is 662129. Is there something I'm not doing correctly?

EDIT: Now that I look like a total noob it's working.

Update #3: Website has new tokening system and fixed queuing system
There is a new update to the project!!

I have released a new version on Github and also live on the website. This new version has improvements to the queue system so it doesn't fail as it used to.

There is now a tokening system for the queue. When you submit a lookup request you will receive a token. You can then leave the page and browse as you wish. You can return later and enter the token to see your results. The only caveat is that results are kept for only 24 hours after the request was submitted.

Update #2: Website is up at http://www.bctalkaccountpricer.info/
My website is up and usable at http://www.bctalkaccountpricer.info/

The site is very simple, just enter the User ID and it will do everything for you. There is a queuing system in place to prevent the server from being IP banned by Bitcointalk. The site will let you know where you are in the queue and will automatically retrieve all of the information when it is your turn.

There are a few notable differences between the website version and the version on github:
  • Ads - The website has ads to help me support the site. I did not include the code for the ads in the github
  • IP wait times - The website will require you to wait 5 minutes before it will let you submit another request. This is to prevent DoS attacks on the site. The Github contains the code for this, but it is commented out.
  • Account bot password - In order for the website to work, an account is required to view the trust of members. The Github has a placeholder password THAT DOES NOT WORK while the website has the correct password.
If you have issue with any of the above, please let me know and see if we can fix the problem.

If you find any bugs in the website, please contact me here or using the issue tracker on Github.

Update #1: The code is now available to browse, fork, and download at https://github.com/achow101/BitcointalkAccountPricer

Hello All,

Today I am announcing a project that I have been working on recently. This project is a price estimator for Bitcointalk Forum Accounts. The algorithm for determining prices is based on recent prices of accounts here.
The algorithm is as follow:
Code:
0.0003[btc]/activity
0.00015[btc]/epa (extra potential activity)

epa = potential activity - activity

bp (base price) = 0.0003 * activity + 0.00015 * epa

final price = bp * pqm * tm

pqm (post quality multiplier) determined by ratio of good posts (>75 characters excluding quoted text) to bad posts (<75 characters excluding quotes)
excellent post quality (90%) = 1.05 (+5%)
good (80%) = 1.025 (+2.5%)
fair (70%) = 1.00 (+0%)
poor (50%) = -1.025 (-2.5%)
very poor (<50%) = -1.05 (-5%)

tm (trust multiplier)
positive light green trust = 1.10 (+10%)
positive dark green trust = 1.20 (+20%)
neutral trust = 1.00 (+0%)
negative trust = -0.15 (-85%)

The code will be written in Java because I know Java the best. It will be open source and published on Github, but not yet as it is not completely finished. There will also be a website that has the java applet on the webpage for anyone to calculate the price of any Bitcointalk Account.

Please let me know what you guys think of this and if I should change the algorithm in any way.

Disclaimer: This project is not definitive nor an entirely accurate representation of an account's sell price. While I strive to be as accurate and close to current market prices as possible, actual prices may vary.

If this has been helpful to you or you would like to support this project, please donate to 16mT7jrpkjnJBD7a3TM2awyxHub58H6r6Z.

Edit: Algo adjustments

What's the "merchant" and the "normal" RadioBoxes for exactly ? which one  should I select in my case ? (this account)
Merchant makes the info that is displayed only display some of the details of the account and it does some stuff to make it harder for other people to identify which account's price has been estimated. This is useful if you want to sell an account.

Normal is just normal, it displays all of the info that was gathered and calculated.

You can't switch between normal and merchant. If something is requested as merchant, then the data that is gathered, calculated, and stored is for the merchant option only and it cannot switch to be displayed as normal.

The missing 54 posts is probably because you are a staff member and can post in boards that normal users cannot see. The bot counts the posts directly instead of pulling them from the profile page.
Aaah, I see. Yes that makes sense. Grin

0.3528BTC as an estimated price is a bit disappointing though.

The bot give this price because it don't take in account your reputation, which he will never be able to. However, giving a small bonus of value for each positive trust point, and doing the inverse for the negative ones, would be a good idea I think.
It does actually take into account the trust, just not very well. I will have to make that part of the algorithm better. It doesn't take into account his status as a staff member, which, if it did, it would estimate the price to be much higher.

This is all in the OP. Look through the code and you can see that there is a multiplier for positive trust and the same for negative. He also brought up specialty accounts like staff etc.

"Disclaimer: Although I strive to produce accurate estimates, this estimator is by far not definitive. It may not reflect what sellers are actually selling the accounts for. Furthermore, this estimator excludes specialty accounts such as Staff, Default Trust, and Satoshi."

I'm still getting a 'failed' message knightdk Sad
