The BCCI has not yet decided on the future of the IPL this season. Coronavirus infection in India is very bad now, I do not think they will be able to fully recover in the next few months. Funds for this pool can be shifted, otherwise funds can be set aside for an upcoming tournament. If funds are to be used for an upcoming tournament, I think the decision should be made now.

My vote: If IPL resumes, we continue playing or shift the funds towards the T-20 World Cup if it gets scrapped.

Waiting till the next IPL is way too difficult for many participants including me which is why the World Cup is the next best option if IPL 2021 gets scrapped. The majority feel the same which is why I guess this is the final decision.

Here is my vote: Reserve for resume or next IPL

Personally I assume that the IPL will be resumed before the T20 World Cup (scheduled for October 2021). 31 matches are remaining and if these matches are called off, then the BCCI will suffer a huge financial loss. So they will try hard to resume the tournament in the next 2-3 months. Delaying it further will cause issues, as IPL 2022 is scheduled for February-March 2022. So resuming the IPL after the world cup is unlikely.

It may be that the price of Bitcoin may increase to 100K or 200K in the next IPL, from which we may benefit.
But to tell the truth, I have no patience to wait till the next IPL. So I'm going for option-2, although I have enough doubts about whether the T20 World Cup will be held this year.

I don't think distributing it back would make sense and the next IPL looks like a farthing. Let's just adjust it for the upcoming WC if it happens. Is there an option where the current rank holders get the prize money? Grin

Well, that depends upon which of the two will happen earlier. If IPL resumes, we can continue with the current pool. If it's scrapped and/or WC happens before it, we can make a pool for WC with same prizes.

In this case I have to agree with Royse. These two tournaments are very different from each other and it may not be right to move the funds to this pool. Indications are that the tournament will resume in the next 2-3 months, with the matches taking place probably in the UAE. We've been around here for many years now, so I don't think that waiting for a few months is going to cause too many issues. But if a vote is required to confirm this step, then I am in favor of that as well.

I think I will prefer to wait until the next IPL or this one resumes. Moving the fund to world cup or any other tournament will not be fair because that's totally two different type of events.

It's unfortunate that the bubble bursts. It would be better if they had the tournament in Abu Dhabi. Anyway, let's hope for the best.

Sad thing for the Australians is that their PM basically abandoned them temporarily until the middle of this month. They never expected the 2nd wave to be worse than the first wave just like majority of Indians. Sad times!

I am OK with both the options. Either the funds can be kept as such, and let's resume the pool when the tournament resumes. Or, it can be transferred to the pool for T20 world cup (I would prefer the first option though). Out of the 60 matches, only 29 matches have been completed, so declaring the winners based on current standing is not the right thing to do. Anyway, let's wait and ask Royse777 how he want to proceed. I am sure that he'll take a decision that is palatable to everyone.

One of the major reason cricket become so popular in South Asia. There is nothing to boast about and not many positives news comes out from here so for common folks cricket is good escape from the reality .
