If by some miracle I manage to get a big stack of chips then I will leave the table for an hour and come back to play in later stages.

Is that a legit tactic?

Is this why people are going to sit out in the other tournaments, I'm playing in to learn it?

Don't do it. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. I am just doing it because I don't like playing these freerolls at the beginning and don't have time to grind trough first 2 hours of bad game play. I am giving it about 1% chance of working out.

For our Championship series newbies are perfectly OK. Especially, if SwC is cheeking for alt accounts and it seems you guys had some info regarding that.

Sportsbet is hosting another 40 mBTC Freeroll tonight - not sure if anyone is going to join but I thought I would let you guys know. 60 registered Spammers already. Wink

I think it's a nice one, and definitely worth participating. Last time there were around 150 participants, if I remember correctly, and this time there will be even more, I guess. I'm pretty sure many of them have no account at all here, but I'm not going to criticize Sportsbets' policy in this regard. They are funding the prize pool of $300, which is almost unheard of for a freeroll, and I can be only grateful to them.

However, I'd like to suggest a rule for our series. Since we desire to play with real members of bitcointalk, not with just anyone, I think it would be better to accept only Jr. Members and above.

What do you guys think?
Jmac1551 is also a newbie whom I know IRL and invited to the tourney.

Long as they pay the fee I dont care who joins. I'd just rather not see 10 new names the final game to get access to the losers freeroll.

On a side note few more days left to earn my entry fee back in low rake.  Cheesy

thanks for the heads up. i'm not sure i'll wake up in time but if i do, i'll be donk shoving. too many runners to take it seriously. Cheesy

Thank you very much for your suggestion. I wouldn't want to push out a rule like that in general to be honest though - and I think I have got the perfect example why... Look at "ceehe", who even made it to the Final game. He was "newbie" until a few days ago even though he signed up on bitcointalk way before we launched our series. Why excluding a guy like him?

I absolutely get your point but I suggest we don't "generalize". How does the rest feel about that?

yeah i wouldn't want to kick out players like ceehe!

this isn't like a freeroll. there isn't much incentive for outsiders to infiltrate it since they'd have to go through the whole series and pay all the additional buy-ins. i don't think we need a rule about it.

I have a feeling that same spammers make at least one new account before each tournament so we have more and more players Smiley I really like most of what Sportsbet is doing but this promo has missed its point if you ask me. I decided to stop bitching about in official thread because it is obvious that I don't understand Sportsbet goals on this one. You are in good relations with SB/Steve so please enlighten me if you know something more. it is almost like they care only about the number of players joined.

That being said I joined this one as well but plan to play it like last one. As soon as somebody goes all in I follow no matter what cards I hold. Last time it didn't work so well a guy had KK in hand in second hand being dealt and I followed with something like J8:) If by some miracle I manage to get a big stack of chips then I will leave the table for an hour and come back to play in later stages.

I'm personally ok with 3000, 5000, 10000, or 25000 starting stacks. I just figure it's the big game and players should have a decent stack. 30% of the field cashes and if you look at the field that's in, it's a tough field of players.

All 9 have done very well in the tourneys. I even see some of these guys on cash games and in other tourneys doing well. Whatever the starting stack ends up being from here on out, it'll be tough to make the money in the final game.

25k chip stack and small blinds starting at $10?  Im not trying to be a buzzkill but that makes no sense guys.  That is way too crazy.

25k is too high definitely, but 10k is ok. And why not to relax a bit, there will be just 9 of us, and we will be able to risk some higher call at least once and survive. In the end it's final table and we should have start with more chips and have more fun.

Let's say that my vote is against 25k and whatever else gets chosen is perfectly fine by me.

We are going to 10k starting chips I guess! 5k is low, 25k is high, seems like the golden middle is the best! Smiley

"Final Game Series" stands for Championship Finale?
If yes, I vote for 25k.

Yeah, that's what I meant.

Everyone should probably consider a couple factors before making a vote here. The biggest factor being it is the championship game. The 9 who make the final game earned a spot to get there. Losing 1 decent pot in this game could cripple you and put you in a shove or fold position early. Only 3 players get paid period. Factor 2 being that there is no late registration for this game. These 9 are it. That cuts an hour out of the game length possibly. Factor 3, again there are only 9 players playing the final game. There will not be 30 players with the 1 hour of late registration.

All of these combined factors makes it acceptable to allow higher starting stacks for the final game of the series. These players fought hard to earn points and deserve to have the chipstack to make a few plays on a pot, take a bad beat and recover, and just play poker without having to worry about losing 1 pot and being crippled.

Just my 2 cents here.

Valid point. After reading this I am OK with 10k as well. I still feel 25k is way to much. I don't see an option to change my vote (5k) but I am fine with both 5k and 10k.

I'm down for the same starting stack.  Played 8 games and some of the biggest pros about 8 game series is learning how other players play and use that to your advantage.  With the same blind structure and larger stack players will no doubt loosen up a little altering their style of play.

I'm for same stack, same blind structure.  May the best man win Smiley

My 2 satoshis (but I can also see the side of those wanting bigger stacks)

Well I voted for 5k, but after reading what you wrote I think it would be good for final table to be with 10k starting chips. It will be more relaxed start for all of us, and with that it will be more interesting, we will play and pay to see because we have 10k, with 5k it's totally different gameplay. Everything you said is true, I would like to go with you on this, my final vote is 10k!

I would support raising starting stack only if blinds levels time is reduced too. Else, 3K is sufficient. Tournament starts at 10:30PM at my place and goes for 3-3.5 hours easily. With 5K, I assume that tournament duration will raise to 4.5-5 hours. My brain stop functioning after 2AM Cheesy

looking at the blind structure, i really don't think it would make that much difference in the later stages. maybe we can try the first couple games in the series at 5k and see if it actually runs much longer?

there seems to be some interest in the idea.

@efialtis

any chance of upping the starting stack in the next series? like 5k or something? it would be nice to be able to splash around a bit more in the early blind levels. i think it would make for some more interesting chip distributions.

anyone have thoughts on that?
