Hey Doodle,
There's a misunderstanding between you and cryptofrka. The one you are talking about is SportsBet freeroll tournament and the one cryptofrka talking about is SwC Poker tournament.

I fell for this two wondering why I couldn't find it. Sportsbet.io was the original platform.

the poker is not accessible in UK Redirects to sportsbet.uk with no poker

I can definitely do that, but who is running this freeroll then?

Hey Doodle,

You can surely play the SportsBet one for free. All you have to do is send personal message to Steve who is the owner and representative of SportsBet on Bitcointalk. Here's the profile:

I don't know if he's allowing newbie accounts to participate or not. But you can try asking for the password.

Hey guys,

even though not related to our current series but since this is our general bitcointalk all poker thread - the sportsbet guys have come up with a nice poker tournament for tomorrow evening! Cool

That's generosity for Sportsbet setting that one for the bitcointalk poker players. If that time was always the time for the series I think it will be too good on my end. Thanks for bringing it up here efialtis I guess I might missed it if this haven't been posted by you here, really thanks! I'll pm the account for the password.

Hey Doodle,

it is not a freeroll, it is a 8-game tourney with a 1.2 mBTC entry fee for each of the games. The 9th game is the final table for the best 9 players in qualifiers.
We have already played 4 of them but if you're interested in joining, just register on SwC and then we'll tell you the next steps.

Well it took me way too long to register [the site kept asking me to wait a minute everytime I chose a username that was taken Cheesy], but I finally got onto this forum!

Hey guys,

I'm new here, but share your passion for bitcoin and poker; and I would love to become an active member of your forum. I found your freeroll on Sportbet.

How does one come about the password?

Regards,
 Doodles.

Okay, I agree with you both. A rebuy-structure with a championship doesn't make sense at all. But wouldn't it be an option if we really want to find out the best (and not the luckiest player) to increase the starting stack? This model would lower the variance.

Before setting up the tournaments, we were of course also thinking about a rebuy option but decided against it for previously mentioned reasons. A bigger starting stack could be possible of course. Please keep your ideas coming everybody. Smiley

So that's a reason why many poker gamblers tells to play only with high rank hands. With A-2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 and some lite that (K-6) it can be situations where while yo get K-6 someone get K-10  Smiley

For me, i mostly looks how my opponent plays. If i see he calls - reraise with no much time to think, and i have something like K-6 it's a very big probability that he has something bigger.

It is hard to judge when playing online, at least for me. This is actually my first time playing poker online, I don't really like it so far - I think my edge is in reading reactions and I cannot do that behind the keyboard.
Therefore, in this tournament I played mostly according to my own cards but in poker that works only when having great cards - which is not often enough for it to be a winning strategy.
Yeah playing online, most of the time people do not really play like they should or how you watch from TV mostly because those people know that the amount of money they are losing is not really big of a deal in this context which is why they can be a little bit more aggressive. I learned this the hard way when I first started, remember those zynga poker games?

I started with those because I had zero previous experience and that was the most perfect way I could learn without spending any real money. Then I moved to real money stuff and I was playing with too much stress and I was scared of losing anything, even on micro stakes I played very defensive while everyone else was betting the pot on 2-7 type cards, which I lost to many times before I realized maybe I shouldn't be all that scared neither.

Did you think about offering a rebuy-option?

Rebuys at these kind of tournaments are counterproductive, at least in my opinion. Some people might have less money (although we are not playing for high stakes here) and they would be at a disadvantage in a rebuy-allowed game mode.

We are looking for the best player on BTT so it's best if there are the same rules/criteria for every player involved.

Our series is lots of fun isnt it guys? I am now very positive we could/should do this on a monthly basis - lets see how the rest of the series goes but I am super happy.

Thank you very much everybody for your participation! Smiley
Yes, please! That would be really really great.

Did you think about offering a rebuy-option?
I don't think that's necessary since it has already started with no re-buy option besides no re-buy option for a tournament with a championship, I think it should how it is; no re-buy option.

Well, we should thank you as well for setting this initiative and make it a reality, it's just cool to see there are people here that still love poker not that many but still it gives fun really. I think we can make an anniversary over this and how about an idea for the anniversary?

Crypto for the Crypto Throne!
I can't count how many times I lost from higher full house, or higher flush, straight... There is one thing that repeats for me, I am thinking how to rise and lure him to pay so I can take all his chips, and in most cases when I think about that I lose all chips! I still remember a hand where I lost a lot of chips, after some time of playing and mostly winning I got K6, little rise, call and flop was KK10! Smiley I thought nice, he raises I call, turn  card was 6! Now I have full house and all I am thinking how to take his chips! He raises I reraise, he just calls. Last card was some little not important card, I thought I have him and after all ins he showed K10! He had full on flop! Smiley
You can't dodge a bullet every time, and there are hands when you either get busted or you double your chips!

For me the worst such thing is when you have 2 cards of the same color in hand, the 5th one comes on the flop, you go heavily and there's another one on the river and you lose to a guy that followed with less than 25% chance of winning the pot.

Losing to a higher colored card in a flush is fine if you both have 1 or 2 in hand, but the situation I described is one of the most infuriating ones for me personally in poker in general. Especially because he then re-raises and you just have to pay it and see Grin
