Also could you explain the payout.

........

Also you returned 0.75 as someone sent 1.

Leaving only 141.0155

So 99% of this is 139.60534.

But the payout was 140.035.

YOU PAID OUT TOO MUCH?

Don't look at just the balance. If I refund money to people the end balance on blockexplorer can get screwed up a tiny bit as Bitcoin will send some of the BTC back to me at a different address. Look at BTC received and BTC sent.

Thanks.

Can you explain how the 4th Oct winner won.

See: http://bitlotto.com/details.html

On Sept 26 the method was changed. I now look at the whole hash as apposed to just the beginning. This makes it a little easier on me. For examples see: bitlotto.com/jr as there has been a few draws now using that method.

Also could you explain the payout.

I can see a lot of stupid people send more than 0.25 so is a bit confusing!

I can see before the last block there was a balance of 142.0155.
https://blockexplorer.com/a/2pBymUZQnd

Then someone entered late for 0.25!
https://blockexplorer.com/t/9UumF6xGXc

Also you returned 0.75 as someone sent 1.

Leaving only 141.0155

So 99% of this is 139.60534.

Can you explain how the 4th Oct winner won.

For the 7th Sept you had:
Winning Picks: ed40a2c75a
Winner's Hash: ed5fe74695...
And I could see that the 1st 2 letters matched (e-e and d-d), and was unlikely there was anyone with 3. So looks reasonable.

But for the 4th Nov:
Winning Picks: cc5de7979c
Winner's Hash: f67278adb7...

None match?? And there was at least one entrant:
https://blockexplorer.com/tx/cbb34261c20d86d3f8524749fcc82ad5eb8c69b07bbb6cf4b48393db83fc4a1b#o1

Where the first character matched.

What is going on? Or have I not understood.
Please update here and on the web site with fully worked examples for a few draws.

Oct 5 had the biggest jackpot in BitLotto history. 140 BTC!!!!

And the winners:

After some psycho days and nights the coooins finally walleted. It’s me, it’s really me! I could not believe it. Thanks to Bitlotto I’m now able to spread around some btc to my favourite bitcoiners for their free tools and services. That’s what I wanted to do right from the beginning of my mining experience. But with declining prices you can’t be profitable nor donationable. That’s history now. Thanks again...

btw what’s your donation address? I don't think 1% is cost-covering.

Wow, congrats! That's awesome!

Odd that someone would pay: 0.00000042 Huh
Not sure why. Oh well.
The pool is now 8.00000462 because there were two "wrong" ammounts:

0.0000042 from 1KPR5YvwrBqSvfjzUvFDi5EPhPC6CMPKvG  Huh

0.00000042 from 1Mi2bgbRs1xEWWA3gXgoj3CR9SCDYc3amq  Huh

Since they did not pay the full 0.25 BTC I assume their entries are invalid.  If either entry wins you will have a "riot" on your hands Wink

Why anyone would do this is one question.  Making sure these entries do not count is another.

Ya, only tickets that are 0.25 or more can win. (0.05 for JR game) All tickets that don't reach the min level are ignored.

Let's say one buys a ticket, but the entry/transaction shows two or more "sent from" addresses.  If that entry should win, to which address is the prize sent?
Only one address is actually the entrant's, right?  The others are change addresses or something?

This was asked, and answered here:

"Any would work.  I'd probably pick the oldest address just so there is more likelihood they have that address backed up somewhere."

To ensure that players are aware BEFORE the draw so everyone can know that I'm not changing it to change the winner, I have tweaked the algorithm for finding the winner. From my website:

Quote
(Changed Sept 26 2011 - Simplify algorithm a bit) The transaction hash that contains the most picks in sequence, without any other digits in between, starting with the first pick, is the winner. The matching sequence can be anywhere inside the hash and doesn't have to be at the beginning. If multiple transaction hashes tie for how many picks match, a tie breaker is done. From the tied group, whoever has the most occurrences of the first pick in their entire hash is the winner. When using the first pick as a tie breaker it's possible for each potential winner to have the same count. If that is the case the next pick is looked at to see if a tie can be broken. It continues until all picks are used. In the extremely rare case you still have a tie after this process, the remaining potential winners equally share the funds.

It's a little more simple and works a little better for me.

Good Luck everyone who enters!!!!
