...
Who to say the guy posting under D D 4 B C is really DD4BC and the same person/persons doing the Ddos attacks.
I'm 100% certain it is.

If Bitalo gives me a call, I will gladly hand over my server log files and help them any way I can.

Boundy is nice, but I would help anyway because the guy called me fat and hurt my feelings.  Embarrassed

Thanks for visiting.  I have your information in my server log and would gladly hand it over to law enforcement.
There's a 110BTC bounty on the script kiddie(D D 4 B C). If you really think you can find him go ahead and claim it, but even script kiddie's usually know how to use TOR Tongue .
The instructions for Bitalo's bounty say to contact the law enforcement agency directly. More info can be found here.

Since it is apparent he has a decent botnet to even do these attacks, it is unlikely he used a trackable IP.

Also how do you know which IP address is his and which ones are random forum people that clicked the link?

Good luck in the hunt though, keep us informed. I like a good read.

Because the list is short, and also the link I posted was to a secondary domain on that site.  Narrows it down rather quickly.

For now, PLEASE SET a backup pool outside Antpool to avoid any mining loss.

You DO NOT want to see this in your account with your Mining Gears.

*60TH/S could get you this...

(removed pic to save space)

Thanks for warning.  I wish I would have read it earlier appears I lost some hashspeed as you warned.

I love the pool really hope you are able to find a fix soon.   For other miners if you want a easy way to switch put "//" infront of the antminer url and most miners will show it as dead.   Doing this your able to remove the "//" once things are fixed.

2 things:
1) If you have that information, why haven't you already handed it over?
2) I very much doubt it would be any use ... though any network savvy person would realise that Tongue

I agree that a savvy person would know better, but he may not be so savvy after all.

1)  Nobody has asked for it yet.  If and when they do, I will be happy to give it to them.
2)  IP is not from a proxy server.  It is in the US.

There are plenty of people who are lot more network savvy than I am.  That's not the point.  The point is
that I am willing to give over any information I have in my server in the hope it will help get this jerk busted.

Bitmain Guys,

Check out my website and give me a call.  I am new to using your products, but I am experienced in IT Network Security.

I have a few practical ideas I would like to bounce off of you that may just help you with your DDOS attack situation.  I will be happy
to help if I can.

Sincerely,

Tom Travis

Judging by your website, I doubt that you are expert in anything but junk food.

Thanks for visiting.  I have your information in my server log and would gladly hand it over to law enforcement.

Hello.. Bitmaintech guys.. Any update about the hacking issue? I want to switch my miners back to your pool but it has been unstable

Don't do it.

They will be unstable for a long time.
This script kiddy extortionist(D D 4 B C) will probably run out of funds to rent the botnet they are using to DDOS eventually. Just use a backup pool and he will eventually get bored and go back to eating paste.

As a Network Security Engineer/Architect.  I am really surprised companies do not design their infrastructure to handle this or mitigate it.

This is not Astrophysics.

I hold a degree in computer security.  DDOS is not a genius thing, it could be some one with not much skill.  Since not much information has been released it's hard to tell a lot about it.

My observation is they seem to be targeting Antpool specifically.  (My backup pools have not been targeted it seems).  I personally wonder who is behind it.  Since it appears no ransom will be paid (and rightfully so) who ever is doing it will not make money there.

I find the whole thing sad as I really liked this pool and was doing great on it mining.

Is it possible to counter-ping and drive the units that are part of the DDoS off-line?

Ping is old school and not likely what they are using depending what the attackers were able to find out while prepare for this attack they then customize their DDoS to be most effective.  For instance you do an nslookup and find the company runs its own DNS servers then a DNS DDoS attack might be very effective, but if their DNS is served by netsol not so much as you can not put a dent in netsol. In any case no you can not return the attack.  Cause the attack is likely coming from 1000s of places to a central point this cause being Antpool.  There are many many things they can do though both with new services/infrastructure and existing.

Maybe I should hit up Antpool for a side job lol  Grin

Not sure if it's been posted already, but I remembered reading this a while back. Seems relevant now.
