I guess that is because they are anticipating an increase in difficulty by then hence the lower price.

The ones that are in early will benefit the most.

Since you are slamming on facts: please give proof why the network hashrate will increase by 100-1000 Ph/s. I agree that the network hashrate will increase significantly, i expect to see an increase of x10 by end of October. This would make it at 150 Th/s, but no way it will come near 100 ph/s!

Most people want their machines to ROI in 1 night, at the very most 1 month. Failing that, its clearly not worth it.

I bought a few of D3s from the first batch. With so much FUD about profitability, what do you think about selling it for $6k or so for instant 100% gain?

You might make more money by running it in the long run, but there will be lot of uncertainties such as difficulty increase and price change of X11 coins, mainly DASH. It might make sense to just flip it for quick profit for almost no work rather than trying to hodl and mine with it.

edit: I also have some L3+ that is coming in late August. Same question: flip it or mine with it?

I get that point. You said todays profit per month is $1500/mo. Its 0 get that but theoretically as you insinuated the profit would be around $4500-$5000. The point i was making is that a 15gh machine today will fall from that and has a wider margin of profit loss. And i do agree as everyone should there will be a big hit, just not from $1500/mo
