I have a S9 that keeps dropping a board. It may run around 2 hours and then turn to all xxx's and not hash.the other 2 broads seem fine. Once I reset from the configure page it will hash again for anywhere from a few mins to  a couple hours. Wondering if there is a monitoring program that I can Use to restart it ever hour or 2?
I checked out cryptoglance but it does not seemed to be working for me. Thanks
Send it to Giga Watt for hosting and they also do repairs on site, cheaper than sending to China and paying shipping plus cheap hosting.

Roll Eyes This is not the shiney-new-toy of the month flighty Consumer electronics (phones, tablets, etc) world... The next drop in node size for them is unlikely to be seen until *maybe* the start of next year if not the middle of it and that assumes there is an actual need for it and is economically viable at that time.

FORGET using any consumer-style transformer like you linked to. They are crap and not intended to be used anywhere near their 'rated' load 24x7x365. Been there, done that, have two crispy-fried transformers that lasted about a month. If you use a transformer it must be an industrial/commercial rated one. They will handle full load for decades but of course are about 2x the price of the others.

Either use the EVGA you picked or Btmain's APW5 which will do fine using 120v and 1 miner on it.

Hello everyone.

I'm looking into mining bitcoin. I know the S9 has been out for a while now. Does anyone know when the model will be out (S10 or S11). To those who have the S9 how many bitcoin are you getting now ?

I don't have a 220V outlet in my place. Is there a way to set it up using 110V by either getting another type of PSU such as the EVGA SuperNOVA 1600 G2 80 or getting a transformer to covert 110v to 220V ( https://www.amazon.com/LiteFuze-LT-5000-Voltage-Converter-Transformer/dp/B008GQTW7W/ref=sr_1_8?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1496462469&sr=1-8&keywords=transformer&th=1#Ask).

For those using the EVGA are you able to connect it to the 110V outlet?

Thanks for your help.

I noticed today that some of the power connectors on the blades of my S9's are turning brown (that center connector on the middle blade is the worst of them).  The oldest S9's are actually the least affected by this and not all of the connectors are doing this.  I have EVGA 1600 G2's for all of them.  The worst one is the one and only autotune version I have (which is the one pictured), which is the newest of course.  Two of those blades are running at the highest freq of all of the blades in all of the miners so I am sure they are drawing more power than any of the other blades.

I have separated the ones that were drawing power for two connectors on a single cable but the PSU only has 9 cables and since the S9 control board requires one, that means I have to use at least one cable to two blade connectors somewhere.

I haven't been following this thread for a while but is anyone else seeing this?  Anyone had a fire from one of these?  This autotune one is I guess about 9 months old now.
Looks like a wire gauge heat issue to me.

Does anyone know where to get original or older S9 firmware? The new one I tried today to see if it would not help bring my dead boards back didn't help the issue and it has tons less settings com[are to one I had before. Like not being able to set manually fan speed and it just keep starting and stopping the fans all the day long awful. Please does anyone have the older one? I have S9 b1 650M.

Thank you

Ok so the two boards are dead.

Anyone know if there is any way how to just buy hashing board replacements? Should I try contacting Bitmain about it?
If in North America, Bitmain Warranty has them https://bitmainwarranty.com
They also do PAID repair of the boards. I highly recommend them.

Hello guys. My S9 seem to have lost two hashing boards, probably due to overheating. One is showing half of the chips, but doesn't send off any shares and the second one doesn't get recognized at all. I have tried factory reset and few more things but nothing happened. Would like to try to put on newest firmware, just to make sure I have attempted all the options. Is there any other suggestion what I could do to try to repair it?
Could someone point me where is it possible to download the newest firmware?

Thank you very much for any help.

...[dumb stuff]...[more dumb stuff]...So not too many new folks will take to BTC,unless they can mine it & that will be over very soon, already is for most due to power prices  Sad
Where do you people live that power price is an issue? I've still got 8 personal S7s running @ 775-800, paying $0.10 per KWh, and making a profit from them(and they were even making a profit when BTC was @ $700).

whe do u live that gets u power prices that low?? looking at the list of price per kwh in the us shows prices just under $.10 per kwh which fits the price listed in your post with one key piece of info left out ....
I didn't leave anything out. Thank you for, once again, showing the you picked the proper name, numbnuts. To be accurate (bill divided by usage) the answer you seek is $0.093136641221374045801526717557252 per KWh, but I figured $0.10 was close enough for the discussions in this thread.  Roll Eyes

Edit: P.S. - Since you're a fan of underclocking and intentionally reducing ROI, you don't, logically, have a leg to stand on when you think you're going to argue the $0.0068633587786259541984732824427481 "discrepancy" of ~$9 per year (especially since it's actually a lower cost and higher profit than initially discussed).  Undecided

whe do u live that gets u power prices that low?? looking at the list of price per kwh in the us shows prices just under $.10 per kwh which fits the price listed in your post with one key piece of info left out and that is the cost of distribution. the cost of pepco in maryland is $.08xx per kwh but the line distribution fee jacks the cost per kwh to the better part of double the electricity cost. but if you tell me your location or the company u use i can verify ur numbers for u. i pay $0 for power but i watch my home usage like a hawk.

i should also add my "proof" before you go spewin on about it. here is a link to the pepco doc on pepcos website showing the generation trans and distrib of power costs per kwh:

http://www.pepco.com/uploadedFiles/wwwpepcocom/Content/Page_Content/Rate_Schedules/R_Pepco%20Rate%20Schedule.pdf

My power is 13 cents per kwh, just divide total bill by kwh used & viola!!!! THAT is why it makes no cents to mine BTC ,I'm kinda spoiled after mining 900 BTC since June 2011  Wink

thats a basic way of using it but it isnt the correct amount. my reply was to the other dude because he claims to only pay $.10 per kwh and i would like to know more on that.

the reason the number isnt correct is because your bill includes many local and federally added fees and taxes for just about every charge lol. hell if you look at the rate info using the link i posted you will see they charge an extra 2.xxxx% on the line transmission fee which is only $.007xxx per khw but that quickly adds up at the end of the month. its pretty normal to see trans/distrib fees adding up to the same amount as the actual generation fees effectively doubling them almost. and when you look at the costs on websites they only list the generation fees usually and not the other stuff which throws people off big time. the bills r also way more complicated than they need to be. i dont see any justifiable reason for not charging a flat rate per kwh of usage....instead they make it harder to understand allowing things to fly under the radar much easier.
