...[dumb stuff]...[more dumb stuff]...So not too many new folks will take to BTC,unless they can mine it & that will be over very soon, already is for most due to power prices  Sad
Where do you people live that power price is an issue? I've still got 8 personal S7s running @ 775-800, paying $0.10 per KWh, and making a profit from them(and they were even making a profit when BTC was @ $700).

whe do u live that gets u power prices that low?? looking at the list of price per kwh in the us shows prices just under $.10 per kwh which fits the price listed in your post with one key piece of info left out and that is the cost of distribution. the cost of pepco in maryland is $.08xx per kwh but the line distribution fee jacks the cost per kwh to the better part of double the electricity cost. but if you tell me your location or the company u use i can verify ur numbers for u. i pay $0 for power but i watch my home usage like a hawk.

i should also add my "proof" before you go spewin on about it. here is a link to the pepco doc on pepcos website showing the generation trans and distrib of power costs per kwh:

My power is 13 cents per kwh, just divide total bill by kwh used & viola!!!! THAT is why it makes no cents to mine BTC ,I'm kinda spoiled after mining 900 BTC since June 2011  Wink

Mine for a Bit
When are we going to see another S9 on the market?

Has anyone glued back on a loose heatsink? I got bitmain permission to open the case on a newly received S9 without voiding the warranty (box was beat up and there was rattling inside the unit). One heatsink is off, and it seems silly to send the entire unit back for that, but standard thermal paste doesn't seem like it will hold. I'm curious what to use, as Bitmain hasn't really been able to point me to the exact product they're using.
They use a thermal epoxy such as https://www.amazon.com/Arctic-Alumina-Thermal-Adhesive-5g/dp/B0009IQ1BU
Bigger question is: Did only the heatsink come off or did the chip come off with it.... If the chip also came off, RMA time.

Thx for the link; it's definitely just the heatsink, so I think worth a try in re-gluing before going the rma route.

Thermal adhesive (meant to adhere components and heatsinks, as well as transfer heat) is different from thermal paste (meant to aid in the transfer of heat).

Unacceptable - yes GPU mining is very profitable ATM. However you are mining in a bubble. When it breaks all value will move into BTC, so I hope you time it right to protect your wealth or are already actively selling your Alts for BTC.

I got it covered  Wink  Been at this since June 2011 sooo  Cool

An anti-Bitcon troll on a Bitcoin forum named "Bitcointalk". Methinks the troll is just mad because he's too broke to afford $1,160 for an S9.  Undecided

LOL I went back to GPU mining (with 3 year warranty on my cards!!) & making good for now... my PC stuff is free, just buy vid cards & make money  Cool

Just a FYI for the noobs thinking about wasting their hard earned money on BTC miner  Wink

Make bank guys!!!  Grin

My S9's from November already ROI'd and I still have the salvage value of the units Smiley

That said I haven't yet bought enough in bulk to experience the failure issues that have undoubtedly affected many others on this thread. Will be making a significant order soon however, I'll be sure to check back and let everyone know if I have any issues Kiss

Hey your the Computer Genius right?? You heard it folks!! Buy up those S9's,your guaranteed to be profitable!!!!!!!!!

You'll ROI in no time!! Diff will stop rising & the BTC price will hit $10,000 in a month or two!!!  Cheesy

Oh & don't let that 90 day warranty thing scare ya!! S9s are TANKS baby!! None have ever broke down & they can mine for 5 years no sweat  Grin

You really make yourself look bad with comments like this. Profitability is a conditional thing, just because you dont know how to make a profit doesnt mean other people are in the same boat. Do a little research.

A 12.5th S9 at $0.10/kwh power currently makes ~$250 in profit a month. At $0.16/kwh you are making ~$180. If you cant profit with an S9 you should seriously think about exiting the crypto mining space completely.

P.S. The s9 comes with a 180 day warranty and has for close to 6 months now....

If we assume BTC price continues to rise, mining with even S7's will continue to be profitable (might take a while for BTC value increase to offset power cost in $)... But if you have the miners and for some reason were not interested in purchasing the BTC directly, it definitely makes sense to mine with an S7 even at the $0.10 / kw-h quoted, methinks.
An S7 "should get" ~1/4 of BTC earnings now vs before halving (1/2 as per halving and 1/2 of that for doubling diff), anything over $1840 makes an S7 more profitable than back before the halving (when BTC/$ was $460).
But at 39% of that power cost S9s aren't profitable when when BTC/$ is at $2250, right Unacceptable?  Roll Eyes
