If we assume BTC price continues to rise, mining with even S7's will continue to be profitable (might take a while for BTC value increase to offset power cost in $)... But if you have the miners and for some reason were not interested in purchasing the BTC directly, it definitely makes sense to mine with an S7 even at the $0.10 / kw-h quoted, methinks.
An S7 "should get" ~1/4 of BTC earnings now vs before halving (1/2 as per halving and 1/2 of that for doubling diff), anything over $1840 makes an S7 more profitable than back before the halving (when BTC/$ was $460).
But at 39% of that power cost S9s aren't profitable when when BTC/$ is at $2250, right Unacceptable?  Roll Eyes

However mining relative to simply purchasing bitcoin does not make sense (might make sense atm with difficulty catching up with price). ...mining at home with power at 6 cents per kwh or above is not profitable.....
Guys like me, who earn a living mining, are glad that guys like you are that bad at math (less network hashrate to compete against).  Cheesy

P.S. "at scale" = a lot more than .00000001 profit  - 10 @ 12.5TH = ~$600 p/week (above the $225 elec cost @ $0.10 KWh) Wink

...[dumb stuff]...[more dumb stuff]...So not too many new folks will take to BTC,unless they can mine it & that will be over very soon, already is for most due to power prices  Sad
Where do you people live that power price is an issue? I've still got 8 personal S7s running @ 775-800, paying $0.10 per KWh, and making a profit from them(and they were even making a profit when BTC was @ $700).
...NOW of course they are makin profit  Wink
...
They never didn't. Does mining earn anyone an amount like $1 billion a week? No. Does mining at scale earn a nice living? Yes!
Why not go back on down the road where you got all of your FUD and keep it there?

Free speech baby!!! You know what Josh Zerlan of BFL called profit?? .00000001 is profit....but is it profitable??

No,mining at home with power at 6 cents per kwh or above is not profitable..... now philipma has the only way it works, rock on philipma!!!!!!  Grin

Some questions...

I want some S9...

But...

How many timelife have the S9?

Some news about S10 or another?

When is the next halving?

1)I have some working since June of 2016, but I have had more then one breakdown.

2) No s10 the s9 is  like a god compared to any other companies miner  they have zero need to make a new miner for btc mining.

3) about  June 2020

http://bitcoinclock.com/

Please be nice to new people as btc needs to grow.

With ya on the be nice to newbies thing but.....BTC will not "grow" to involve ordinary folks....wallets are still easy to hack, especially online ones.

There are NO "refunds" or BTC returns...you send to wrong addy, you lost it...send to a scammer...you lost it...credit cards will ALWAYS have this feature,BTC will never have it.

Buying BTC is pricey...buy from an exchange there's a fee...send BTC there's a fee...oh & you need a bank account to buy BTC from most any exchange,or a credit card,so it is not anonymous & there's more fees.

Bout the only good thing about BTC is that is cheaper than banks,I think,to send large sums of money (convert to BTC,convert back to cash at receiving end) around the world.Definitely faster,kinda..

So not too many new folks will take to BTC,unless they can mine it & that will be over very soon, already is for most due to power prices  Sad

Your first two questions are answered in depth in the preceding posts in this thread and others.

The 3rd question is answered with 30 seconds of Goggle research.

What is the ROI for an S9 on Hashnest?  Is it at most 4 months at current rates?

Hashnet currently does not have any S9s for sale therefore you will need to purchase hash on the market.  When I just checked the following rates are going

Last Price: .06051 BTC/TH
Maintenance: $0.19/TH/day = .00008879 BTC/TH/day
Exchange Rate: 1 BTC = $2140
Current Difficulty: 595921917085 => 1TH = 0.000422/day

ROI = Price / Earnings per day = .06051 / (.000422 - .00008879) = 181.5 days

Also keep in mind that this is a very generic calculation that does not take into account difficulty changes or the price of BTC fluctuating.  But in general you can say it will be about a half year.

Has nothing to do with "agree to disagree" when joeyjojosmh is wrong...! You'll be hard-pressed to get one up on notfuzzy, and you didnt, and the ignore button is your prize! Nice job, noob...  Roll Eyes
guess you never read the antbleed disclosures either.  Try setting your etc/hosts file to the test ip to see if it gets shutoff.  Try taking an S9 that has not had anything done to it from April 2017 and see if it does it.  You would be suprised.
Again, this is not only a dead issue corrected by simply updating the firmware it is also OFF TOPIC for this thread. The offending code is/was in all of their BTC miners from s7 on up and all their Litecoin miners, not just the s9.

If you must insist trolling this dead issue at least have the courtesy to do so in the right thread dealing with it. https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.18761210 IMHO achow101 nailed it. Of course they are just part of the staff here so what do they know right? Wink

This has been discussed to death elsewhere sans tin hats.
What part of NEVER IMPLEMENTED not to mention that the option was user-selectable yes/no/from where have you not paid attention to. Not to mention that is is easily blocked even if it did operate.

link to elsewhere chat?
To hopefully wrap up this bit of OT, in this thread the back door hubbub start at pages 209/210. For threads specific to the topic ref my post https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.18762696 for links

Anyways, please answer this Q for the miner if you are running it and have gotten some stats on it throughout time at current difficulty, per S9.
so How much bitcoin per day do you make running one of these 24/7? at current difficulty and next soonest difficulty.
Now ya gotta know what the answer to that is going to be... For 1, if you are in it for money then miners always run 24x7x365.

Literal income per-day? Anything from zero to good money. Gotta think at least per-month to even out variance and work back from there to get average.

Case in point, I'm running 240THs on Kano and as of late been getting on average 0.0515110BTC per-block we find. The past 2 weeks had some days with us hitting between 2 to 5 blocks per day and a couple blocks that took almost 2 days.
