I just deal with bitmainwarranty.com in Denver. They should be able to fix miners for a fee.
Always courteous and fast.
At this point I don't think coupons are an option. They cost so much that $100 doesn't even put a dent in the price.

The R4's are not sold out now. You can buy one right now (1/13 @ 5:30 PM ET). They become available every few weeks and are typically sold out within a day. This blocking use of a coupon for Miners is Bitmain doing this on purpose at the expense of their customers.

That doesn'''t suprise me. Guess you could msg him about this.

Not sure there is a way to msg the Chinese company Bitmain here. I have e-mailed Bitmain (http://bitmaintech.com), waiting for a response. The issue here is that Bitmain is issuing coupons to compensate for defective products, but you can't spend the coupon when you purchase your next miner. This means that anyone that has a warranty issue must send the unit back for repair, incurring costs for shipping and loss of mining proceeds, since the coupons they are providing are worthless.

Update from the firmware recovery project, flashing the PIC firmware from the good board to the bad boards DID recover my board that failed because of the autotune firmware upgrade, but it DID NOT fix the one that failed due to a hardware failure before the firmware upgrade.

I simply used the pickit 3 and read a copy from my good board, saved it in advanced mode to a hex file, then used it as the source to program the other boards.

Both boards were instantly recovered to their pre autotune firmware state. The hardware failed board also showed up in the miner page after the update, so it did help it connect, but it didn't actually fix it's problem which I suspect is just a normal hardware failure. (Planning on sending this one in for repair)

If your boards failed because of the autotune firmware, this is a good recovery option, if they failed for any other reason then this probably won't help you.

As a side curiosity each PIC has unique firmware, that doesn't match any other. So I don't know of the long term implications of direct cloning, it's likely some board specific programming is lost, but if my board is mining again I can live with that. I'd suggest cloning from a good board from the same miner, try to match the version numbers and compare the hex files to see how major the difference is.

Considering that Bitmain support didn't even suggest this option to repair the failed board, I'd consider that good proof that they either don't care or don't know enough to suggest it as a fix. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only person that had the autotune firmware mess up a working board.

STANDARD DISCLAIMER, THIS WILL DESTROY EVERYTHING YOU HOLD DEAR AND MELT YOUR MINER INTO A PILE OF WORTHLESS SLAG, DO NOT ATTEMPT UNLESS YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING.

Is this repair applicable checklist:
1) Must be a pre autotune miner and hash board
2) You can log into and access the miner status page on your miner. (Verifies that the controller isn't the problem)
3) Hash board must have worked before the autotune firmware update and not worked at all afterwards
For the next two you have to flash back to an older pre autotune firmware
4) Hash board must not appear at all in the miner status page while running pre autotune firmware
5) Hash board has no red light at all at anytime while running pre autotune firmware

Although as a side note if anyone is interested in the future, I can probably do this repair for you for a small fee, just let me know if you're interested.

Good luck out there!

Probably because you can't orders miners at all. They are all sold old.

Last year, I purchased an S9-B2 from Bitmain and it came with a defective hash board. I was provided a $100 coupon as compensation. When attempting to purchase another Miner from Bitmain, there is no option to use your coupon and it says "No available coupons". When adding anything else to the cart, the coupon option is displayed.

When I do a View Source on the order page with the Miner, the Coupon code has been removed so it will not function. When I do a View Source on the order page for something else, a Power Supply for example, the Coupon code is present and the option to apply the coupon is there. It would appear that Bitmain prevents using any coupon when ordering Miners and I have been ripped off because I cannot use my coupon for the defective equipment I was provided on my previous order. This appears to be a dishonest business practice and I am not very happy about losing $100. Is anyone else experiencing this problem?

Thanks for great advise and kind words to everyone. Additional check of website from http://www.scamadviser.com/check-website/homemining.online is not encouraging either. 99.999% SCAM.

I see. And PayPal buyer protection does not apply since I bought bitcoin, not goods. Thanks for hint.

you should never buy a miner from anyone with bitcoins unless you get it from a trusted source and in this case the best source for s9's would be from bitmain directly even if they arent in stock. im not here to make fun of you and im glad no one else is being a dick about it too just be careful when/if you decide to purchase miners in the future. there are alot of scammers out there that wont hesitate to steal your bitcoins the first chance they get.

I was told 180 day warranty was coming.

lmao thanks for the confirmation! I guess competition is REALLY a good thing.
And "some" announcement. People must be getting told to keep a lid on things as usual. "be patient" was the word.

Annoucment will be L3 scrypt miner

I'm in BTC XTC
Actually Bitmain has already announced that all miners purchased after Oct.1 2016 have a 180 day warranty from date of shipment.  That should translate into more reliable equipment, but...  Roll Eyes

I was told 180 day warranty was coming.

I would consider this as good news only if I can send the warranty item to a US-based location.
Paying $120 to send a board to China or much more than this to send the whole miner makes no sense (to me).
In such context 90 vs 180 days is largely irrelevant.
