Hi Guys,

Have 2x S9's running for over a week now, but I mentioned something strange...
I spotted some screenshots of other peoples S9's and Fan1 always runs slower than Fan2.

But here it is different? My Fan1 is running -faster- than Fan2 on the back?
Fan1= 3850 rpm Fan2=3360 rpm.

What do you think? Little mistake by Bitmain or more people having noticed this with batch 2?

The S9 uses a different fan configuration than the S7. It has a 6000rpm fan on the front (also used in the S7-F1's) and the usual 4800rpm fan on the back of the unit.
I can only assume this is due to more heatsinks and the longer case needing more air movement. On the plus side I find the S9's run a bit cooler than my S7's in the same environment. Albeit a touch more loudly.

when you flashed the firmware did you check it for a virus.
LOL. Do you realise firmware is for a different architecture, OS and can't be unpacked by antivirus?
Educate yourself before posting BS please.

Try changing your password to the miner to a real hard one.
This is interesting. I tried changing the password on that one miner but it always says 'invalid password' and doesn't accept the change. If I try to change the password to my other S9 miners it works fine. Very strange.

I have an interesting problem here with a Batch 3 S9:

1. I have set it for a static IP of 192.168.1.60
2. I have set up 3 mining pools
3. It operates as expected for a few hours, maybe up to a day.

Then, seemingly on its own, it changes its static IP address to something different (like 192.168.1.203) and changes just the first mining pool to f2pool or  peercoin pool (not my pools or credentials). Pools 2 and 3 remain untouched. I change the settings back to 192.168.1.60, and reset the first pool, but several hours later its back to some random IP address and the first pool has been changed again to something.

Has anyone else experienced something similar? I've had this happen 3 or 4 times now over the past few days. I keep changing the IP and pool information back, but in less then a day that miner is back on some random IP address and mining at some random pool. I've re flashed the firmware but that didn't help. I've reset the S9 to its factory settings by keeping the RESET button pressed for several seconds, then re-configuring, but that didn't seem to help either.

I don't know what could be causing this, or how to stop these changes from happening. I have several other S9 units on the same network and none of them exhibit this behavior.
Sure your miner is not being hijacked by a virus or hacker. when you flashed the firmware did you check it for a virus. Virus.malware, spyware can attach itself onto any program including firmware also. had it happen with a smart phone when I flashed a custom ROM KERNEL onto it. I was sending emails and calling everyone on my contact list LOL. alot of angry people calling me back thinking I was pranking them.

Just something to think about food for thought.

8 days to halving... Unless there is some explosive action to the upside in BTC the price of these will have to be halved also.  Going to be an interesting week ahead. Smiley

Yeah 2k and if lucky it comes on Tuesday or Wednesday. It could also get caught in the tax issue.

So it may be a premium of 125 USD compared to an early b4

B4 available again.  I do eventually want 1 more to replace my last S7 but I just can't conceive of paying more than 2k for one with the halving this close.

Well I just got an arrival scan for Anchorage although it wasn't before 1:30 it says 1:37.

So these clearance agency items are definitely appearing after the fact.  It has me wondering if they just didn't get around to entering it in the computer until later or if they just gathered info on the packages and then flip the coin to decide if there is a fee after the package has been carried on it's way.  So far mine does not say there is a fee but I still don't have the post about having been released from the clearance agency despite the fact that it is now in Anchorage.

I am on the plane with you: lots of action   looks like no fee and it comes on a friday not a tues..   So I may save 45 in fees and earn coins on

fri sat sun mon vs pay 45 and start earning on  tues.    it is about 100 usd difference

We got very lucky Philip.  Not only did it clear customs quick but we escaped any charges.  And if all goes well, it will arrive and be mining tomorrow evening.  The alternative being losing 3+ days of revenue with a Tuesday delivery.  Not totally there yet though.  Don't want to count my chickens just yet.

Bumped the S9 B3 up from a stable 587Mhz to 600Mhz to see if the temp/hash rate went crazy again. The hash did not go crazy but the middle board chip temp was hitting 100-101. Too high.
(It's pretty hot outside too)

So I dropped it back to 587Mhz and it runs stable with acceptable temps. I can deal with the loss of .3TH for now. After halving I may try to flash again and see if I can get it stable at 600.

Here is what it looks like now.
