What's the life expectancy on the S9?  The previous models only ran about 1 year so I'm hoping these can go longer.

what are you talking about?

I know of s-1's that still work along with s-3's and s-5's

They just are not very efficient and don't earn much money even with cheap power.

The buy button for the S9 is grayed out on https://bitmaintech.com/. When will it be available again?

Ok, so since it's quite hot where I live... My hottest S9 pcb temp is around 73-75c... How would you feel about it? I'm thinking that maybe I am pushing it quite hard atm...

hi eretron, i think your PCB temp 73-75c is okie. Im stay in Malaysia, it's pretty hot here, before my S7 OC 725freq with temp 74 highest at noon, night and morning is around 70c. I have S9 unit too, with standard 600freq, temp at noon is at 72 - 74c.

I have running S7 about 6 months++ without a problem with temp below 78c.  Grin Grin

I can confirm it is just their cgminer fork renamed.

Where did you get this info?  Can you point me to the source repo?

Thanks.
Just run "strings" on the bmminer binary, it's pretty obvious that it's cgminer.

I would lower freq by 25

 650 to 625
 600 to 575

I run my 2  650 batch 1's at 600

I run my  2 600 batch 2's at 600   and I am doing    60c  more or less on all 12 boards.  yeah I am leaving some hash on the table but I do not want to burn up my gear.

I have issues with using closed source mining software, especially when it has been copied/cloned from free, open source software. i like to know there are no security risks or hash theft going on. Either way, weather the mining software was copied or not, there should be a source repo available so that it can be inspected for such problems by those that are forced into using it.

Hopefully some tech-savvy dev will be able to create an image with the proper, secure & trusted cgminer software incorporated into it - I might buy one then.

If the price goes down dramatially enough......

You should be throwing this up on you network which I assume is behind a router/firewall.   So you should be good on security as you have that between the S9 and the internet.  So as long as you have that good router/firewall there should be no issues even if there was a vulnerability(which I don't think one has been pointed out and were talking in theoreticals).

So you should be secure with your S9.  I don't see many throwing up open to internet. So for most if there is a security risk on your network the issue is bigger then your S9.  Just my feelings on it.

Electrical engineer. Mining since 2014.
... I have 4 s-9's so I am not but I mine them on kano.is  which is the best I can do.
I'm doing the same and agree this 100%

somewhere on kano thread  it is mentioned it is also mentioned somewhere in the thread.

Basically bitmaintech is in violation of software laws and has been doing that for years since no one in-forces the laws very well.

China and India have been known to do this often along with Korea.

But copyright issues abound in our world bit-torents  and tons of wrong streaming are so common what can you do to stop it. Not much

How many of us can say every song movie and piece of software on their pc is 100% purchased and paid for.

I sure some one will reply they are 100% perfect.  Good for you Grin Grin if you are.  I have 4 s-9's so I am not but I mine them on kano.is  which is the best I can do.

Anybody know how to get the antminer S9 to hash on NICEHASH it just does not hash all other sites are OK. please help A.S.A.P ?

BMMiner (most likely Bitmain's own fork of cgminer) doesn't work on Nicehash.
I can confirm it is just their cgminer fork renamed.
And If so, it violates cgminer's open-source licence.
One thing I'm not so proud of as owning one. if that is the case.

I gave it a shot and it works great. My S9 has been running for 10 minutes at 14.1th
What were you running before the update?

11.7 to 12.3 before. 1 hour since update and at 13.9th, so I'm still happy

What's your clock rate, stabilized temps, and what batch do you have?

650 clock. 57 and 88. Batch 1
