They also have a buggy trading engine, fucked up orderbook,

I've noticed the bid is sometimes higher than the ask. What is with that?

you can, and i have, put in orders a lot higher than the ask and vise versa, it will show but only for a sec, if you refresh its gone. ya supposed to automatically refresh, and it will but to speed it up then just refresh.   but it wont let you place a bid higher then 20%. i was trying to mess with it one day using like .02 bitcoins and see if it would raise the price and have it show on bitcoinity, but twenty on eather side is what it will let you do, also above 10% it gives you a warning that you are giving your money away and that your dumb lol.

So.... nobody is going to post a wall pic? What's the purpose of the thread then?

I'll begin.

I would eat that whole wall (124, while mtgox@127) but I'm out of fiat (and I never had that much to begin with).

THANK YOU!!! IT BEGINS!!!!!

I guess you mean "it's down". Still 250 BTC strong. Whoever put it made a large buy with no slippage thanks to the predictable force downwards after the rally. Quite smart person.

In the past I've seen this problem with other Bitcoin exchanges (Tradehill was one).  The issue is probably that when someone places an order it goes immediately into the order book, before the matching engine has had a chance to look at it.  This results in the book being crossed momentarily until the matching engine executes the order.

The solution to this problem is to have new orders queued and not show up on the order book until after the matching engine has processed them.

also if you want every exchange to fail and all of us to just use gox and have gox fuck up then keep being negative.  for people who belive in bitcoins you sure want it to be centralized and have one company control it. now that is so fucking sad.  Roll Eyes

Yes its sad that such lowball services get to the percent of the market share that it did. It wouldn't if there was a better option. This one is joke for any semi-serious player.

It's supposed to update in real time (without having to refresh), but it seems bids and asks are switched. I noticed this bug just when the price collapsed the 10th and it was very confusing.

Bitstamp is best EU exchange. But they are trying too hard, this may results in security flaws.

1) they accepts 3 confirmation
2) easy password reset and send via email (just one click, simple for hackers)
3) bot can operate only without 2-factor auth. (high risk)

... still I'm using their services :-)

They also have a buggy trading engine, fucked up orderbook, kinda stealing with the fees via ultra lame implementation, not to mention buggy front end JS and fucked up interface, such that you need 3 open tabs to trade.
The next best exchange. So fuckin sad.

ya a few times i had isuess but has it crashed? has it made the market go down significantly? have they had to take there servers off line for 12+  hours? if they do go down will it hurt bitcoin to the point that it will take years (mayby) to recover. just saying. we need to think out side of "the gox"Wink  bitstamp is for me the better of the two evils. if gox is going up stamp is behind so i know to buy if its going down i know to sell. ill be ahead of the game. ya there are bad things but there are also good thing. if  you have 100S of coins then ya not the most secure place to put it but if you want quick trades and you coins to fiat fast with no lag then for sure stamp. good for about a hundo coins. but i have never had a buy/sell order that didnt go threw, as in orders like ten up ten down. they are a good exchange but if you want to stick with gox that is fine but the noobs should know about this exchange and gox should not have .70% of the market imo.

RUM AND CARROTS: A PIRATE LIFE FOR ME
BITSTAMP WALL OBSERVER.

A free service brought to you by the bitcoin community

we saw today that bitstamp stopped following mt gox and did its own thing. I think this is a good idea to stop focusing on MT GOX so much and let others know that there are other exchanges out there.

today demonstration of it leaving the norm by 15 plus dollars is a good sign that wee need a tracker for bitstamp as well as mt gox. for those of you who dislike, don't use, despise,mt gox or just love the ease and smoothness of bitstamp then this is your place

feel free to post whenever neccicary, and Whenever there is a significant change in market depth, please update this thread with a new depth chart, and a good price chart with some TA is also welcome,

BITSTAMP- NEXT BEST EXCHANGE.

YA  still 4 or more dollars right now....but ive seen it at around two today as well. what arbitrage bot do you use? im not going on gox but camp bx and others i am on. i would like to start using it since im constantly monitoring the exchanges anyways.

4-5 dollars is enough?

With exchanging services, fees, AML limitations etc moving money to/for must cost more then 4% profit you are making?

I think the price is lower on BitStamp because it is easier to take fiat out of BitStamp than Gox.

it seams the arbitrator bots are not picking up on bitstamps constant reduced price for bitcoins. price has been at least 5 or >  now around four dollar differential.   currently the price at STAMP is 120 while the price at gox is 124. cheep coins over at Bitstamp right now.

also its probably a bitcoinity thing but showing sever hours of no info on stamp, two separate occasions in the last 24 hours.

Historically (if you look at the 30 day average on bitcoincharts.com) the price on Bitstamp is usually higher than Gox.  I was going to tweak my arbitrage bot now that it seems to be trending lower than Gox, but figured I would wait a few more days to see if this is just a temporary thing or not
