Quite an interesting question. Someone uses it as the main income, someone as additional. In any case, the earnings here are quite good, and it does not matter how to use it.
It's more of a sidejob for me.
I would not trust bounties and ICO's to quit everything and do it as a full time job.

I can call work, be a bounty manager, for the reason that they are paid every week. and being a bounty hunter is a hobby.

In my opinion, bounty hunters are not suitable to be used as a main job.Now many ICO are failing, so still the income is not enough to give up the main job.
It can be considered as a temporary job for the unemployed, but it is not a stable job because it has too many elements required to get the bonuses. Most of the ICOs are failing, and many hunting bunnies are giving up because they are worried about the job.
Whether the bounty era will be alive will become clear very soon. Soon there will be a strong movement in Bitcoin prices. And then we will see whether the HYIP will return to the ICO.

I don't consider bounty hunting as a job because many people are not clocking in to work inside of a bounty campaign. 
If this activity is interesting and brings income, then why not engage in it for several hours a day? If you like reading this forum, and also are interested in new ICO, then it is quite logical to get some profit from this.
The payments were high enough to treat it as a job last year, not really the case anyway. Maybe ok for guys in less well off countries but tough to do it from the EU/US.
I make it for additional income. But a few years ago you would be full time bounty hunter. Because market was great. But now its not so good..
For me, participating in various bounty is just additional work and periodic earnings. Therefore, to work in this area, I spend an average of several hours a day. Although in the next few years my situation may completely change.
For some people, of course, it is a job. But only for those who recieve a little sum of the money at their previous place of work.

Some people actually participate in bounty not just as a hobby or part time but full time job. In many countries, a dedicated bounty hunter makes more than what an average government worker earns.
In my case, participation in companies bounty is one of two major ways of earning. The second is the trade of cryptocurrency. Together, they bring quite a good profit. Trade entails high risks of losing their assets, but not time-consuming . Participation in companies bounty takes a lot of time, but requires no investment of personal capital.
Old and experienced hunters who came to this field a year ago or more, work under the same conditions as beginners. We need to modernize it somehow.
