Take payment in BTC instead of the proposed token. That way if the project is a scam then their tokens will be useless but you are protected by having payment in Bitcoin.
Yes it's true because it's very difficult to Identify a Scam project, I also encountered a legit project but one of the team member of the project run all the money from the ICO so it tuned out to be a scam, in the end, the best thing to do now to avoid this scam bounty is to do an in-depth research about the project and also the bounty manager will do it in the first place it's a part of their job because they are the bounty manager.
Yes, because basically, those ICO scams will not steal so much money from investors if not of the works of the promoters (bounty hunters). Once you already smell the fishy smell of a scam ico, you better stay away from it immediately.
Agree to some people, you need to chose carefully what you're promoting, DYOR before campaigning for a specific project or end up not getting paid and sometimes you'll get that red trust for promoting such scam. It's not easy to see but there are some indicators that could help you distinguish legit from not

it can happen to bounty hunters promoting scam projects, this is very frightening because it is certain that the results of our hard work will not be appreciated.
actually you can't feel which project is real at the starting time of bounty. after starting ico or team activities you can some idea about scam.many expert bounty manager I have seen they are promoted fake project, so difficult to avoid a fake project. but we need to careful for choose a real bounty.

That is why as bounty hunter, we also need to check on the project that we wish to join, we should check on it thoroughly before joining. To avoid ended up getting scam project.
I agree with you, I also always check the bounty I followed so that after the bounty is finished I get my payment not only to spend my time with the bounty whose project is scam, and what I check before joining the bounty is a team, whitepaper, roadmap, the bounty manager and the most important member in the project (bounty members or ICO investors) by joining the facebook, twitter or telegram group from the ICO project.

I think you can't avoid it even though your have study thoroughly the bounty coins there are such time you can be fooled by their promises and incentive offers and I guess this is normal specially now that bearish market hit almost 11 months now. 
If you are a bounty hunter that is making careless act just for the sake of finding and joining bounty campaign without making sure that its a legit one, then surely you can be a victim of a scam project. But if you are aware on the concerns and makes verification first, then you can avoid this incident.
It is pretty obvious that we are flooded with scam project and it is sad that bounty hunters are just promoting with this. That is a big problem we face since we never know exactly if that certain campaign really works until the end or it will just vanish in few days after it started.

Sometimes we are disappointed after working for a long time, and in the end the ICO commits scams. But if we compare with investors that when they lose a lot of money caused by the ICO, our disappointment is only a small part of them. Then we don't need to cry.
THERE are a lot of possibilities to that's if you don't do some homework. Problem is, we jump into every project WWE see without any proper research and we end up loosing

that is a problem - yes, but for half a year I didn`t have once, as I take bounties very carefully, so if you take everything and deal with all bounties - yes.

If you are a bounty hunter and you are not careful enough, yes, there's a good chance you'll promote scam projects too.
And I know that it's hard to find the bounty, join before the limited number of places fills up and also research the background of the project you'll promote.
You have no chance to promote only 'not scam' ICO projects. Even when you're doing a big amount of research there can be only one guy that decide to make a really good project's environment and than you're promoting a scam ICO.
Better is to realise that and accept no payment from some amount of projects covered by promotion from your person.

If we will just jump on the project to promote and keep the eyes on the price we will end up in a scam project.
remember that joining bounty campaign is like investing in the ICO.
we should study them first and make sure that they are legit one.
Before you can be a well experienced bounty hunter you will have prompted scam project one way by the other.... Sometimes we hunters learn from our mistakes.... But also a bounty hunter who is not careful enough will end up prompting scam icos day after days.
