4 months of waiting, that's a long wait. Though we can't blame him for that but its an opportunity for the fans to see a big fight and now it's gone. Well, I just hope he'll heal at that estimated time so the fight could still happen as I'm sure Bivol is not happy for waiting longer since time is very important at the level of his career which he is on his prime.

Sad news for us who have been anticipating for this big fight. I haven't read the news yet but thanks for sharing. Is there any timeline or estimate as to when they'll make this fight happen?

ESPN says he will be out until at least September.

That sucks, I don't think that we can wait till September for this big fight. Although they could find someone to replaced Beterbiev as there could be good fighters. It gives me an idea though why not we see Benavidez vs Bivol though? Anyone down with that idea? hehehe.

But let's see, David Morrell or Anthony Yarde's name has been floating around as the replacement.

Hopefully, Beterbiev's injury heal the soonest so that we can see him again in the ring.

Beterbiev is still a monster, whenever he is healthy, but with the amount of injuries he has I don’t think he will be around for much longer. Maybe money will tempt him to stay around but it would be great to see him go out on top and with a perfect record.

Unfortunately, Artur Beterbiev is once again injured and this fight will be postponed. The rest of the card, which is the 5 v 5 Matchroom vs Queensberry event will still go on. It is still a good card headlined by Deontay Wilder and Zhilei Zhang but its still a disappointment that one of the most anticipated fights in recent history will not be happening.

Beterbiev is no stranger to injury. Many of his fights have been postponed due to injury. This is why he has so few fights for a 39 year old.
Yes, I was just surprised to see feeds on my social media that this fight is going to be postponed because Beterbiev got injured. I thought it was like a injury in his ribs or something in the sparring, but it was in his knees? Maybe as what we are aware of, this could be sign of old age? Anyhow, it's bad to hear this kind of news specially in a highly anticipated fight, and could be fight of the year candidate. But we can't do anything but to wait till Beterbiev heals 100%. And so the Zhang vs Wilder is relegated to full main card for now. Not that bad though, and hopefully it will be a interesting fight in the HW division and I'm looking for this fight to end in a knockout.

Latest update is Bivol will still remain in the card and the promotion is looking for a worthy opponent and there is a big possibility that David Morell will get in the picture to fight Bivol, we all know that Morrell will is scheduled to fight Radivoje Kalajdzic fans would like to see that one its a great match up if Morrell skip that fight and go for the title right away

Quote
It would be better for boxing fans, Bivol, and His Excellency if Morrell (10-0, 9 KO KOs) skipped the idea of fighting the 32-year-old Kalajdzic and went after the main WBA 175-lb title on June 1st. It wouldn’t be much time for the 26-year-old Morrell and Bivol to prepare, but if the money is good, it would be worth it.

In the coming days will see who Bivol will fight to replace Beterbiev its only a month to go I hope the replacement is a worthy one.

I think this is the most interesting or one of the most interesting fights this year. This is a classic match between a good puncher and a good technician. The whole question is whether Beterbiev will be able to deliver his heavy blow or Bivol will be able to outbox him, “out-dance”.

Not sure if you have read the post above you, but the fight is going to be postponed because Beterbiev suffered a injury in his knees. So we will have to wait for a updated date as it might take months for Beterbiev to recover.

The testosterone test may have an effect, due to which Beterbiev had minor problems in the last fight. I mean, if Beterbiev really used testosterone therapy in large quantities before this, then now he will probably be tested more and he will have to either not use it at all or reduce its amount, then his training and form in battle could be significantly worse . If I'm wrong, then he will be in approximately the same shape as in the last battles.
I think Bivol will win by decision, but this fight is very difficult to predict

The last drug testing returns "atypical" results and it was way back when he fought Callum Smith. So it means he was cleared to fight and eventually won that fight. And it's not the peds that is banned substance that is found in his system.

Beterbiev is no stranger to injury. Many of his fights have been postponed due to injury. This is why he has so few fights for a 39 year old.

The cause of the postponement is ruptured meniscus
Quote
A torn meniscus is a painful, but treatable, knee injury.
There are 3 bones in the knee. These are the femur, tibia, and patella. The ends of those bones are covered with cartilage. This smooth material cushions the bone and allows the joint to move easily without pain. The cartilage acts as a shock absorber. Between the bones of the knees are 2 crescent-shaped disks of connective tissue, called menisci. These also act as shock absorbers to cushion the lower part of the leg from the weight of the rest of the body.

Age has something to do with this based on one article and this is treatable but it will take 3 to 6 weeks or 3 to 6 months due to the severity of the rupture or tear so it is possible that the fight could happen before the end of the year, its unfortunate but since Bivol is healthy and it will take Beterbiev to heal he can still maybe we will see a Beterbiev against Benavidez since Benavidez is now campaigning in the light heavyweight.
If ever this is a surprising turn of events.

Was really waiting for this and my bet was ready for Beterbiev, although he is the older guy but his KO rate (100%) is very impressive, so it's easy to choose him to win via KO.

And if I'm not mistaken, Bivol is the slight favorite, so I would also think that the oddmakers might be right again.
I wouldn't say that Beterbiev is still in his prime, although undefeated, he is already 39 years old. Bivol for me is in his prime at 33 years old and not much of a wear and tear in his boxing career.
Also there is news that the winner might face Benavidez next.

Whoever the underdog is, I think this is the kind of fight you don't want to miss. Hopefully, I can watch it live because I have been watching highlights of Beterbiev and by looking at it, Bivol has only a slight chance against him if he can easily get through those powerful jabs and his accurate punches. But we all know that Bivol is also a technician himself, he also has something against Beterbiev as well when they finally get into the ring, and if that really works, then his chance to win against a super-knockout artist will truly come true.

In terms of power, Beterbiev have it, but Bivol has one of the best upset in boxing when he won against Canelo. And he uses his jab and volume punching to outmatch Canelo. And that's why he is the slight favorite here as he might used the same strategy here to give Beterbiev at bay and he can't execute his power punch.

Also, Beterbiev is known to be a slow starter, so I guess Bivol knows that and he should take advantage of it by throwing a lot of jabs early and score points in the judges scorecard. Bivol as well have good stamina and can last the full 12 rounds. So this might be another strategy for him to tire Beterbiev and force him to go the distance and maybe Bivol can squeeze a win thru the judges scorecard.

Only VERY slight favourite.
Checking right now:
Bivol: x1.88
Beterbiev: x1.94

I wouldn't be surprised if there were betting sites out there that slightly favours Beterbiev. There are many pros that would pick Artur to win, saying he might be too much for Dmitry to handle.
He's 20-0, 100% KO record is not something to ignore.

it doesn't matter though because even if the odds will interchange, bookies are still gonna bag some commission with that odds. I would be choosing Beterbiev to win, but 1.94, I think I could increase that by betting on him to win since if he wins, I'm sure it's on KO since all his wins are in KO.

That's true, but everyone ages differently and Beterbiev still looks really sharp and handled Callum Smith pretty well in Jan. Smith had only one loss to Canelo before that fight, so was no pushover.

And looking at the odds right now,

Zhang, 1.51
Wilder, 2.45

I think the odds would justify that oddsmaker does not have confidence on Wilder anymore. With the lot of beating Wilder experience, I think he is already going through some mental problem as he was at the top and now already at the rock bottom trying to climb back, but it will not gonna happen because he isn't as confident as he was before, and probably doesn't do the same intense training.

Zhang had the better boxing skills than Wilder, and since Wilder is just looking for a one punch KO which he doesn't have it anymore, this is a clear one sided fight and Wilder are gonna experience another loss.

Yep, that's true, it's no longer the prime version of Wilder, and as we have seen on him, somewhat that lost to Fury did take a lot of toll on him mentally and he is not the same boxer after that.

On the other hand, Zhang has the power, he even knock down Parker like it is just a tap. Although he lost that fight in the judges scorecard, we can't take away that his power is real and that Wilder might not like it and bring that ghost back when he lost to Fury.

Looking at the results of the poll, the majority thinks Beterbiev will continue his undefeated, 100% KO streak, but my money would be on Bivol, likely winning by decision. He's simply a better rounded fighter with very high tactical discipline and high "fighting IQ".

It's good to have this fight finally happen, especially when both are still in their prime. Say what you want about the Saudis, but I'm glad they started to make great fights happen.

I can't understand why they wouldn't just let them speak in their own native language and just get an interpreter, the results would be much better imo.

The biggest contribution made by Saudi and Alalshikh to boxing was making the biggest promoters in the world to work together which made these great fights possible. Hopefully, PBC is also willing to offer all its fighters and stop ducking against the best.

Funny how large amounts of money can make people do that  Grin. The beef between Hearn and Warren was purely egotistical and it's not difficult to move past that when there was no real issues other than clash of personalities and a bit of jealousy from competition as they're always vying for the same fighter. Nobody can really compete with Saudi right now apart from maybe Netflix but Netflix has a business to run where they need to make money whereas Saudis don't and I imagine they're no where near to breaking even on these fights that they do. These promo videos alone must cost millions: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MzueDN3YBGc

I think that's the best one they've done so far. Very reminiscent of Early Guy Ritchie films.

Thought Beterbiev vs Bivol card will be fully Matchroom vs Queensberry but it's more like Matchroom vs Queensberry and Top Rank. And there's also Wilder and Zhang inserted. I can see Zhang beating Wilder. Zhang's 2 defeats were also close decisions so he is still mentally sharp and hungry while Wilder has minimal skills unless he lands his haymakers.

My money would be on Zhang too, though Wilder probably knows he can't just show up to this lazily like he did against Parker. It's probably going to be a matter of who lands that huge shot first. Zhang knocked down Parker twice in his last fight but couldn't muster up enough stamina to get the job done. Wilder isn't as good of a boxer as Parker is so they're both going to have to go for that KO. Wilder probably has a better gas tank than Zhang so that's in his favour as Zhang tires easily.

And looking at the odds right now,

Zhang, 1.51
Wilder, 2.45

So odd makers are leaning on Zhang as a clear favorite and I do agree. And Wilder could have issues fighter who is left handed in the early part of the fight against Luis Ortiz. So if by chance Zhang hit him in the first couple of rounds, and soften Wilder, maybe he could take him out in rounds 5-8.

But if Zhang can't score or hit his money punch, Wilder could extend this in a full 12 rounds and Zhang might not have the gas tank to survived.

Let's see how Wilder here will operate. He has been left behind, Fury, Usyk and AJ names are still the hottest in this division that we once thought that he can dominate.
