And his contract is not like a 5 fight deal that Top Rank is offering him. Reports says that his deal with Matchroom is just 2 fight, and so after that he will be a free agent again and maybe he will have his time to fight either Tank or Loma in the future.

Canelo is the one who started this years ago, signing from one promotion to another and then control the fights that he want and obviously the money. But Shakur could really fight a decent boxer after the Cordina fight. Not sure who Eddie can give him next, maybe if Shakur will try to go to 140 lbs maybe him and Devin Haney will fight for one of the biggest for Shakur and a career payday for him because that's what he wanted.

Matchroom has to be wise. Shakur isn't a coveted fighter as far as money is concerned. Hearn has to have a safety net. In the likely event that they won't get as much from Shakur and everything isn't worth it, they could quickly set him free.

God spare the sport of a Shakur-Haney fight. It might be the biggest fight for Shakur but it would be at the expense of the fans. Nobody wants to see a couple of chess players inside the ring. But if Shakur thinks Devin is already a damaged good, he might consider it. But I don't think it would be his next fight. He should've chosen another 140 lbs. fighter instead of Cordina if that were his plan. Also, such fight might not really translate into a juicy paycheck. Everybody knows both of them are boring.

However, before the loss of Devin Haney against Ryan Garcia, I reckon there were many fans who were very much excited on any mention of Haney vs. Shakur in social media. This was also including me hehehe.

At 135 lbs? yes, possible that there are fans that wanted to see that fight, specially that they keep on winning both of them. But Haney chooses to go up to 140 lbs win against  Prograis so I doubt that he can go back at 135 lbs and fight Shakur, is Stevenson willing to go up to 140 lbs?

I reckon Haney should have 2 knockout performances before accepting a fight against Shakur. Shakur should also do something similar. After this, the winner can challenge the other champions for a unification. Teo will be the last challenge.

I think for Shakur, he should really go at the top dog of 135 lbs which is Tank DAvis, or Lomachenko, as the latter will be a legacy fight for him. As for Haney, stays at 140 lbs, get a tune up fight, build his confidence again and then rematch Ryan Garcia if he wants to.

You might be right on Shakur hehe. There will be more challenges from him against the scammer Tank and Loma. Also, as a tune up fight against a boxer who is also a champion, Tank, Loma or Shakur can challenge Denys Berinchyk for a unification. However, I have heard that Shakur was angry that he was not given the chance to fight for this WBO lightweight championship. He might be the first to unify 2 championships in the weight division.

On Devin Haney, agreed, he will certainly need to prove himself. I reckon presently, no one wants to witness a rematch unless Haney will win with a knockout in his next fights. On King Ry, he does not need proof. He will only share something strange on social media and the hype will be on him heheheheh.

They know what's they got themselves here, Hearn has been in this business so for sure signing Shakur, has it's pros and cons. And it's not like a long term contract, it is just for two fights and after that, if they are willing to go a second round, then another contract extension, if not, Shakur going maybe into PBC.

It could be just for the money if Shakur-Haney fight was made. He knows the value of Haney and so he might offer this fighter a money that is enough and that they can't refused. And it's going to be a win-win situation for Shakur himself as he has been calling for big fights and maybe this is his opportunity.

And probably this is what it was only a 2 fight contract, as Eddie Hearn doesn't want to lose more money. So it's a risk that he is willing to take for now, but he could be ready for any potential L as well.

It could be a good fight and probably this could be the selling point as well of Eddie Hearn. That he could see Haney in the future. I'm not aware of who is on the stable of Hearn at 140 lbs, but there could be fighters that might be worth to see Shakur fight.

And so with that, I don't know how much Top Rank is going to promote Shakur although there are news that this could be his last fight with Bob Arum's company. So let's see who's going to handle him next. I reckon that maybe Matchroom of Eddie Hearn might want to take the risk and have him. Although we might not see him and Loma fight as we all know that Loma remains loyal with Top Rank. But a fight with Tank Davis will also be good if they can set it up. However, there are news that Loma vs Davis is being work out already from behind.

Shakur already signed with Matchroom. This could make it harder to negotiate fights against Top Rank and PBC fighters like Loma and Tank Davis. Beating Cordina is not going to make him a star but he is still getting a nice purse from the Saudis.
Oh, I didn't know that Shakur has signed with Matchroom already, I thought that this is his last fight with Top Rank and could be thinking that if he left, then there will be no Tank Davis or Lomachenko fight for him. And as I have further research, it's true that it is only 2 fights but it could be worth a lot of money for him than what Top Rank is offering him. But he isn't a crowd draw and we all know that, but Eddie Hearn takes that big risk and most likely Bob Arum could be laughing as well because he knows that Hearn are going to lose a lot of money. So let's see what is next for Stevenson, William Zepeda or Keyshawn Davis next for him?

Not only is he on the main undercard bout, he is also on pay-per-view. Boxing fans will have to pay if they want to watch his poor performance. Lucky for majority of the fans, they don't have to do that because the fight they're looking forward to is definitely Bivol and Beterbiev's. The undisputed battle of the two undefeated fighters isn't on PPV. So if you're subscribed on ESPN+, that's enough for you to watch the match live.

Anyway, Shakur's fight could be made second of the night next to Alakel's. LOL!

Even when multiple promoters work together to put together a good card like this one they still manage to shoot themselves in the foot with questionable decisions. Bivol vs. Beterbiev is one of the biggest fights of the year but they are going to limit Shakur’s visibility by putting him on a separate broadcast behind a paywall. Matchroom would rather make a few extra bucks rather than do the most logical thing.

He could be in the 3rd card on this fight though, but not sure why he made him in the second fight before the main card, we all know that Shakur is a boring fight, his style and not something that fans appreciated and maybe his personality too, somewhat brandish but he doesn't step up in the fight and just picking a fighter that he will beat, but can't knockout.

As if he really holds back something and doesn't want to take that risk, unlike other boxers when they go up in the ring, they wanted to give the fans a good fight and worth our money on buying and seeing him fight live.

The boring and unsellable Shakur is certainly the huge favorite even if he won't probably hurt Joe.
It's fitting that his fight is on the undercard rather than the main event, as it tends to be boring. I'd even prefer it if he were the third fight before the main event, so the audience still has energy left. If the crowd gets bored, they might not enjoy the main event as much—just kidding.

But seriously, fighters like him don't bring much excitement unless there's someone who can counter their strategy and beat them. For example, the fight between Ryan Garcia and Haney was entertaining, even though Garcia won, and it was later ruled a no contest. Despite that, the actual fight was still enjoyable.

I think it's indeed better for Shakur and Cordina's fight to be the third fight before the main event. Wardley and Frazer's rematch could be the main undercard. That's probably the better sequence leading to the main bout. The excitement of the crowd would be sustained before the night ends. There's the anticipated rematch followed by an undisputed championship fight.

Shakur is only on a tune-up fight against somebody who was just knocked out months ago by a boxer with only 36% knockout rate. Doesn't seem worthy to be the main supporting bout, the headline even on DAZN PPV. Good luck with their PPV numbers!

Great undercard. Comparable to the recent 5V5. The top four undercard fights could probably all be headliners. The Fabio V Clarke rematch deserves it for sure.

Indeed, the undercards offer some popular names. But aside from the main bout between Bivol and Beterbiev and the Wardley versus Clarke II rematch, which I agree they both deserve, the rest are actually lop-sided matches. The boring and unsellable Shakur is certainly the huge favorite even if he won't probably hurt Joe. Chris Eubank Jr. is also another huge favorite against the soft-punching Szeremeta. The same is true with Opetaia and Whittaker and Nicolson.

Right, and this is what HE Turki Alalshikh had promise to boxing fans, that he will put up a great card and this could be another example.

I would be interested to see Chris Eubank Jr here, I mean we thought that his career is over when he lost to Liam Smith in their first fight. If I'm not mistaken, he was the favorite but then was upset by Liam.

And then they set up a rematch and it's good that he return the favor and so it was a great comeback for his career by beating Smith in his own physical and mind game.

Video of Bivol training with the upper cut,

https://www.youtube.com/shorts/s0yVpKaamwc

Probably he will used this weapon against Beterbiev, but still, it boils down on his execution, he is a volume puncher and so he has to mix his punches too. And we all know that Beterbiev has the power and so he will have to make some distance and judge it so that he can make enough room for him to throw a lot in bunch and not let Beterbiev set his power punches.

The actual fight would be different, especially against a boxer with a 100% KO rate. It's important to have a counter-strategy because Beterbiev is sure to be very aggressive and will likely use his usual approach of trying to finish the fight early. Being a 100% KO artist, a fight that goes the distance wouldn't be in his favor. So, it's likely either he wins by KO/TKO, or he loses via decision if Bivol's uppercut doesn't send Beterbiev to the floor.

Yeah, the actual fight is different but at least we can see how determined Bivol training for this fight of his life. Beterbiev may have a 100 percent KO ratio but he has his own disadvantage on this fight and that his his age. Not going the full distance may take a toll on Beterbiev if he can't hurt Bivol early as this would go the distance and may favor the younger Bivol.

Yes, and obviously, Bivol is training for the fight to go full distance for sure, and this video did nothing to show that, except that him doing the upper cut and you can see in the background that all boxers in that gym is doing that as well.

Old age is slowly creeping in on Beterbiev, he had his injuries already that's why the fight was postponed, and for me having this kind of injuries means his body is not that cooperating. His mind could be thinking that he still possesses that power or can push himself in training. But if you are getting older, sooner or later that wear and tear is going to show thru injuries.

you can't ascertain the outcome of a match from this kind of trainings. I'm pretty sure Beterbiev isn't sitting back in the couch waiting to get ponched like a thine air bag. When it gets to real life fights where he has to do a lot of defending and ponching against a fast fighter like Beterbiev, in sure there's definitely going to be more that's needed than just a shoe of how prepared he is to throw some upper cut ponches. He's basically building more power in his punches so if every slight hit brings the fight to technical knock out but it has to be a combination of heavy punch and a lot of lighter punches that even creates better opening for you to execute a perfect upper cut.
